“Pretty good, but bring ethernet cable.”

This hotel was a small, comfortable hotel with large rooms and excellent service with friendly receptionists. The complimentary breakfast was great as well. The only problem was that the wireless was more or less non-existent and even though I was on the first floor, I had to go sit in the dining room to use the internet. I wished I had an ethernet cable.

“Excellent location for all the sights”

We chose this hotel for the location, 5 minutes walk from Princes Street and all the sights. For the excellent location alone I would recommend this hotel. However, you should note that there are no lifts (we had to haul our suitcases up all the stairs to the 4th floor). Also, a bit disappointed that the 'king size' bed turned out to be 2 singles pushed together with king size bedding on it and we never did find the hair dryer. But the room was comfortable, always hot water in the shower (no bath), and the view from our window was superb. Staff werealways friendly and helpful and the continental breakfast was good so no need to pay extra for the Scottish breakfast.

“Ballantrae Hotel - Good”

Admittedly the Ballantrae Hotel was upgrading some areas but care could have been taken to limit the dust and disruption. The rooms were a nice size but far too warm even with the window open. The Continental breakfast which was ok, but not exciting nor I suspect fresh (the first thing I thought of was defrosted food). I hope they will offer a better quality breakfast in the near future. Car parking is very limited to say three or four vehicles so be early to get it for free but access is very limited. Would I use this hotel again? Yes.
