Small room and somewhat dated decor; the shower was poor. I did have thecsmallest and cheapest room. However, a really comfortable bed and crisp bedding. The staff were fantastic, proper old school attentive and friendly. The breakfast was excellent and freshly cooked for you. My son is a student and lives in Edinburgh, I asked if he could join me for breakfast. Not only did they say yes, they said there was no charge - how nice is that? I used this as a scouting visit to see if I will come again with my wife. It's a resounding yes! I highly recommend this hotel, special thanks to David and all the staff for making my stay so pleasant. It's clean, got good bus service outside the front door (no 11 to Princes Street), brilliant staff and a proper Scottish breakfast.

Host was very informative about the area with suggestions about restaurant options and bus transportation available (2 stops within steps of the front door). Walked me to my room and informed me of its quirks. Room was cozy and quiet; I did not mind being on the third floor at all. Easy access in and out of the hotel from the street with a special key. Included breakfast made to order from the menu was delicious.

Wonderful stay here. Lovely old townhouse in a good location for the Cuty Centre and Leith, by bus. Comfortablw room, shower a little difficult to get right but good. Full Scottish breakfast amaxing.

The host was very helpful with our plans during our visit. He accommodated us for an extra night when our flight was cancelled at the last minute. The breakfast is superb and freshly cooked to order. The room was clean and comfortable. The hotel is situated on a number of bus routes making easy access to the city centre. Recommended at a good price

David and staff are outstanding hosts! The rooms are clean and comfortable, and breakfast tasty and offers good choice. We walked to downtown along a quiet path next to a creek, and found great restaurants 20 minutes away. We highly recommend A Haven!

Great hosts, great Scottish Breakfast. Secure onsite parking. I had a room on the top floor so the water pressure in the shower wasn’t great but all in all a comfortable stay within touching reach of everything i needed.

This is a lovely house run by lovely people. Our only 1 little gripe, bottom sheet on bed - did not fit. I am a restless sleeper so had to keep pulling sheet back over bed do not to be sleeping direct on mattress protector...does not take awsy lovely BnB. Would recommend.

A Haven Townhouse - a wonderful BnB
A Haven Townhouse is located in Leith which was a lovely location with access to the Leith Docks about a mile away. The hotel itself is very nice and quaint. I was traveling alone and the room I had was small but perfect for my needs. The Inn Keeper, David, was great. Full of information and had a lovely sense of Scottish humor. The full breakfast was perfect. I would definitely stay here again.

Was only here a couple of nights but would have happily stayed longer. I had read reviews about out of date decor and it being creepy being taken to your room but i feel it was a pleasant service and was nice to chat about what can be done in the local area, and the decor suits the style and was nuce and relaxing to not be the same environment as home. Best bit was definitely being well taken care of over breakfast, food was lovely and they were always ready to offer you more if you wanted it

Bathroom needed deep clean and updating. Weird idea of not having bed sheets but just a flat sheet that didn't tuck in so when you slept it ruckled up and you ended up lying on the mattress itself. Not hygienic!! Staff very friendly and helpful.

A lovely place to relax. The area itself didn’t seem to have many restaurants but I found some easily within a 20 min walking distance. Very friendly staff and a delicious breakfast.

Close to Leith area. Only a bus ride to centre of Edinburgh. Excellent hotel with Scottish characters. Highly recommend for Scottish highland breakfast.

Scottish hospitality at its finest.
Inkeeper David and his staff insured our stay, was exceptionally pleasant. Scottish breakfast provided was outstanding. David gave us a brief orientation on how to access local Edinburgh sites of interests and restaurants via a very convenient bus line. Room was clean, comfortable and quiet. Scottish hospitality at its finest!

A haven certainly not heaven
We were allocated attic en-suite accomodation. The room was small. The en-suite had been a built in wardrobe or cupboard therefore it was not large enough to suit the purpose,you could barely turn around.Avoid attic accommodation. We arrived early on a Friday afternoon. It was a cold day and were told central heating would not kick in till 5pm. At 3pm it was so cold we asked for a plug in electric fire the Manager said that would'nt be possible.Saturday was a dreadful, wet windy and cold day.Facing the possibility we might spend more time in a room,without heating,we checked out a day early.

Staff are very friendly and the service was excellent. Room was small but clean. Shower was terrible, no pressure and took about 15 - 20 minutes to get hot. Car park has a gate so your car is very secure. Would definitely stay there again

Lovely place to stay
We stayed at A Haven for 5 nights. We were given lots of information and the added bonus was the onsite secure parking. Our room was clean with a very comfy bed. The staff were amazing, so friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious. The location is quite near to the the Royal Yacht Britannia and the botanical gardens and not too far to walk into Edinburgh. If you don't feel like a walk there is a bus stop over the road. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would stay again if we went to Edinburgh.

Amazing little gem!
We really had an incredible service from all the staff. David, in particular, has been extremely kind and accomodating. This place is also well located as you can get downtown commuting around 25 min. You can also walk to "The Shore" where you will find great little bar and restaurants (about 12-15 min walk). Thank you for making our stay so great!

David is the perfect host, the hotel is clean, quiet and right on a bus route, leave the car in the secure car park and enjoy Edinburgh stress free. Breakfast was excellent and the facilities as good as any. We booked another short break for our wedding anniversary next year when we checked out

Weekend in Edinburgh
We were made very welcome, as it was Christmas time everything looked very festive. Breakfast was very good, the only down side was lighting was a bit too dim, had problems reading in the lounge, could do with some brighter lights.

A haven in the city
We arrived early so the proprietor offered us breakfast. He was helpful in every way from giving change for bus fares, to giving directions and offering discount cards for nearby attractions.
