“Hotel Gravasteen”
The hotel is situated in the centre of "Old Ghent" opposite the castle of the same name. It is part of a small chain of 3 hotels, two of which are in Ghent. The hotel is small and friendly with pleasant, airy rooms and good service. I have stayed there twice now and been impressed with the experience on both occasions. To get there from St Peter's station (from Brussels or Ostend) take the modern No.1 tram into the city from outside the station and stay on it until the Gravasteen stop. The hotel is just across the bridge on the left hand side. Our room had air conditioning (I think most of them do) and there is internet access downstairs. Bags can be left in the lobby if you arrive early or leave late. The staff are friendly and helpful and speak good English. One thing I always like is a decent shower and there this hotel is spot on - lots of nice, hot water but there is a bath as well.

Big hotel, stayed in older part (street noise at front) but big room. Great position in town, short walk to all main points of interest. Breakfast, ok, have to walk outside to breakfast room through courtyard - and up lift or stairs, still, you're hungry when you get there (self service breakfast.
“good but could be better”
Room, location A1 thgat part could not been better. But let down by poor recieption ( seem to be run by young girls ) who kept us waiting for 2.5 hours at check in saying room not ready , but all along it was . I would recomend it but not the staff .
“Wonderfully situated”
We arrived last of all the guests and had the last two rooms which were very much attic rooms but clean and reasonably comfortable although small, especially the bathroom. It is a good middle of the range hotel.
