“Shockingly good”
We stayed at Purgatory Village while road-tripping through the area. We were obviously there in the off season and it showed. The resort and the town were like a ghost town. The room was comfortable enough -- despite some wicked static electricity that caused a shock with everything we touched. The views made up for any difficulties, however. Durango Mountain and the surrounding area were absolutely gorgeous. I would definitely go back to this resort during the regular season.
“Beautiful Views!!!!”
Beautiful area to stay in.
“Beautiful place for a little R and R”
Room very nice, had a gorgeous view. No complimentary breakfast. Only one restaurant open in the evening and no shops, but it looks pretty new and it was summer which is the off season. There was a concert the night we were there, right across the grass from our window. Great value, probably because it is new.
“Pretty sweet off-season getaway- with some caveats”
Nice condo, nice view, very nice area... however, on arrival the alarm on the entire condo went off. ( ...no biggie... although it scared one of my guests into dropping- and breaking- a $20 bottle of wine..). The hot tube was closed- as was the 'roof access' (extreme mountain view- I guess) which was what the person checking us in said "we'd have access to". ...kind of a biggie... Overall, I'm not dissatisfied but wish these guys would pay closer attention to small detail. The fireplace was sweet, we got a very good off-season price for the rental. The downside is most of the shops were closed (after Labor Day) and the place was very empty. The entire area was pretty 'dead' of activity. Good if you want to relax.
“Beautiful place to stay”
After ther difficulties checking in, everything was great. The rooms were huge and the bed comfortable. The shower in the master bedroom was a little awkward to get in and out of, but overall we loved everything about this location.
“Wish I could have stayed longer”
The lady at the front desk was extremely nice and extremely helpful. The lobby was very nice and the room was way better than expected. It was small (long and narrow) like we had read in some reviews, but it was decorated like it was your own home. It had a big screen Sony TV above the fireplace and granite countertops. This particular room had a balcony with a mountain view as well. Also included in the room was a refrigerator, microwave, stovetop, and coffee maker. The bed was also more comfortable than most hotel rooms. We only stayed a day, but we wished we could have stayed longer. Call them before you go if you want a mountain view room. If your wanting to save some money from the high Durango summer rates (ours was about half of what anyone in Durango was aking) and do not mind being 25 minutes outside of Durango, this is the place to stay. There are a few eating options nearby as long as you eat before 9 p.m., otherwise you will have to go to Durango. You will most likely have to carry your luggage up some stairs as well.
“Awesome Condo and Resort”
Everything was perfect in our 2 bedroom condo. The kitchen was better stocked than home. We had everything we needed, the price was affordable, the rooms were luxurious. There was a hot tub, sauna and steam room. Shops for some groceries and souvenirs are on site, as well as restaurants and bars. You didn't have to walk far at all to get to ski rental and the lifts. All the people who worked there were very friendly and helpful.
“Perfect place to stay”
Great value for the price! Room had a fully stocked kitchen, a balcony, and a DVD player. It was very immaculate when I entered. Garage parking in the basement was convenient. Front desk staff was very courteous.
“Worth every penny”
Hotel was very nice. The staff were quick to respond if we needed anything. It is a very beautiful area and a very nice hotel. It is in the middle of a remodel, but when finished will be perfect. Located in between Silverton and Durango, this hotel is perfect for a nice getaway.
“Can't wait to go back”
The Southwestern atmosphere of our room and balconies over looking the Village made it hard to leave the peace and quiet!
