Not the best room in the house
Room 12 Yellow / Black warning tape on entrance to corridor King size bed ! Two singles shoved together. Decor : Very tired very very tired. Smell : Indescribable Shower : Very hot or Very hot, unajustable Kettle: Not sure what has happed to the Kettle, could have used as a grill.

We were travelling home from the Highlands
Moffat seemed the perfect overnight stop and we couldn't have been more pleased with the choice of our hotel, we stayed in the Cottage which was perfect for our family. It was spotlessly clean and had everything to make our stay enjoyable. The staff in the hotel were helpful and friendly at all levels. The food in The Oaktree was delicious. We would definately stay again.

Horrible experience! Don't stay here.
My brother and I were in separate rooms for two nights. The first morning, when I tried to take a shower, no water came out of the hot water faucet (I don't mean that the water was cold, I mean that NO WATER came out of the faucet). I tried to call the front desk but my telephone didn't work. I had to put on clothes and walk across the parking lot in the rain to get to reception, and when I arrived, there was only the cook available and she couldn't do anything. I went to my brother's room (in the main building) and took a luke warm shower (he had had hot water earlier, but by 7:30am the hot water was no longer hot). After breakfast, I explained the situation to the receptionist on duty and asked that the shower and telephone be fixed by the time I returned from our day of touring. When I returned that afternoon, the receptionist told me that both the shower and telephone had been fixed. I went to my room and into my bathroom to try it and still no water came out of the hot water faucet. I went back to reception to tell her and she came to my room to see for herself. Still no water would come out of the hot water faucet. And the telephone had not been fixed. She moved me to another room for the night. I would not recommend this hotel and in fact, I own a tour company and am going to find another hotel for my groups. I spoke with several of the hotel employees, and with the exception of one who had worked there for several months, all had been employees for a few days or weeks

Pleasant Surprise
Very good service. The King bed is actually two single mattresses together, which is okay as long as you stay to one side of the gap. No complaints though - will come again. Outstanding for the price.

Nice hotel in quiet town near M74
We discovered this lovely hotel a few years ago and now always use it when travelling to northern Scotland. Always clean with friendly staff. Breakfast is superb.

My room was a single. Not good value for money. £45 without breakfast. Shower room was very small. Single bed was comfy and it had tea/coffee and a tv. Needed a freshen up.

Overall we enjoyed our stay in this lovely hotel in nice surroundings. The food was very good and service friendly and efficient. Rooms are a little tired but didn't detract from overall experience!

All fine except for one very poor evening meal, where a so called main course tart was a small piece of cheese was on a puff pastry - no flavour and not as described on the menu! Also no rose wine '' due to a wedding the previous weekend '' - may also explain the poor meal!

Convenient location but very basic.
My single room was very small on second floor with no lift. I felt I had gone back to the 1950s! En Suite shower room very cramped and I could not find how to make the shower work; apparently it had two switches to turn it on! The tiny sink was so small I could not fill the kettle from the tap! The 'Full Scottish Breakfast' was well below average for the price. The Dinner in the Restaurant was also very average for the almost"West End" price. My sirloin steak had a thick rim of fat and gristle to be cut away and this left a much smaller steak though the flavour was good. The wedge chips were soggy, mushrooms out of a tin and flavourless and the "Diane" sauce also very lifeless. The staff however were very nice and helpful, doing their best in a less than charming environment.

A place to sleep
Only needed a room as we were spending our days renovating a property. Never saw the rest of the hotel but was very pleased with our room. It was very clean and spacious.

Reasonable overnight stop near motorway
We stayed in a room at the top of the hotel only for a brief overnight stay and did not have breakfast. The room was comfortable but a bit in need of TLC. There was all the amenities in terms of bathroom accessories and tea making but the wifi signal was non existent at the top of the hotel. The sink was blocked in the bathroom which we reported to the hotel staff in the morning who just said they would get it fixed. Reasonable value for the £60 we paid for one night.

Lovely room, disappointing place
Our deluxe room was beautiful and the hotel staff were friendly and attentive. The bathroom was average and the shower curtain needed changing. The hotel bar was a little run down and I was disappointed with Moffat in general, we really struggled to find a nice bar for a drink and some food. We didn't sleep well as we were near the main door which kept banging through the night and quite a lot of noise from the room above us. Overall, not a place I would return to in a hurry.

On the whole, the Hotel was clean and the staff were receptive and polite. The room however, was rather sparse which included a round table with two hard chairs to sit on, "not very relaxing after a long journey".The double bed was wide enough for a couple of "Hobbits" and I felt there were a couple of health and safety issues. The kettle was located directly under the TV in room 7 and a Christmas tree blocked the fire exit in the dining room. That aside, the accommodation was what it was. "cut price", or as Hotels.com lists it a "Special Offer". Our stay was pleasant though and the food was amazing.

Lovely hotel in a lovely town
one night stay en-route to Livingston. Moffat is a beautiful small town, full of character and the hotel sits in the heart of the town. It was a very comfortable stay in a lovely room which was well priced. My only slight niggle was the inconsistent wi-fi. Great value.

Room 8 Bathroom!!!, towel rail hanging off the wall, shower door fell off in my hands and power shower was missing the "power". Bathroom was of poor design galley style and did not work if two people wanted to use it together. I booked a "bathroom with tub/shower combo" what I actually got was a single small shower cubicle that was in poor condition with no water pressure Room ok but could do with a touch up. Overall not a great Best Western

Lovely hotel in a very pleasant town.
We stopped off in Moffat on the way to visit friends in the Highlands and a very pleasant experience it was. We booked a family room which was in a separate block and easily accommodated all 5 of us. Although parts of the hotel are looking a bit tired our room had clearly had a make over and was decently decorated and equipped. The food in the hotel was excellent and the evening waiting staff first class. The breakfast was equally good quality although the staff looked a little more stressed and service suffered a little as a result. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel.

Stayed 1 night on a 16-night trip from Lands End to John O'Groats. This was the best place we stayed in. Right in the centre of town with plenty of parking out front. Room was bright and comfortable. Nice sun lounge and terrace at the back. Staff were all cheery and helpful. Didn't eat here but the food did look good.

Beautiful charachter hotel set in Moffat. We had booked in as a stop over on our trip back to Manchester. The hotel is well sotuated in the town with good off-road parking, rooms are spacious with a standard batroom/shower. Overall good value for money and we would stay there again if in the area.
