“Great hotel, great holiday”
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Valamar Dubrovnik President. Our 'standard' rooms were very comfortable and spacious, and the facilities were excellent, especially the pool (very quiet and much larger than it looked on the website photo) and beach (small and pebbly but right on the doorstep, and great for snorkelling even close to the shore). The breakfast buffet was very good both in quality and choice, and the view from the outdoor tables across to the islands is stunning. The bus trip into the beautiful old city is easy - the hotel sells tickets at reception, and the bus leaves from right outside the hotel, every 10 minutes. As the hotel is at the end of the bus route, there is almost always a bus waiting. There are some useful attractions locally - Copecabana Beach, 10 minutes walk away, has bars, restaurant, and watersports including kayaks and jet skis for hire. We ate mostly in the old town in the evenings, but there are a few bars and restaurants in the small shopping centre about 5 minutes from the hotel (also some souvenir and food shops). The hotel arranges excursions - we went on an island-hopping boat trip that picked us up from the hotel beach (although we got a discounted price by booking it at the company's office in the shopping centre, rather than through the hotel), and a day trip to Mostar which was fascinating. Overall, we thoroughly recommend the hotel and the area for a great combination of culture, relaxation and activities.
“First time in Dubrovnik but will return”
We were very happy with all aspects of our stay in the President in Aug/Sep 2011. The staff were all very helpful, friendly and welcoming. The "romantic" room had a large balcony with stunning Adriatic views. The food was very good in the hotel although we dined most nights in Dubrovnik Old Town which we reached by the shuttle bus outside the hotel (we never waited more than 5 minutes for a bus) Free wifi in the room was appreciated. We would highly recommend the President
“Great base for a family visit to Dubrovnik”
We stayed two nights and it proved a great base for a short visit. There are frequent buses to the old town (about 10-15 minutes). The best places to swim in Dubrovnik are in walking distance along an attractive path. The children enjoyed the outside lift and the fantastic breakfasts - everything fresh and amazing choice. Rooms completely quiet and restful - fantastic views of the Elafiti islands from the balconies. Hotel staff really helpful.
“Wonderful view”
Hotel had a great ocean view with large outside deck. The rooms were large and had an open feeling. I would highly recommend this hotel The staff was very polite and helpful.
“valamar president”
nice hotel, wonderful staff, easy to manage with 2 year old, bus into town was no problem
“off-peak delight with an edge”
The Valamar Dubrovnik President Hotel is one of several owned by the same group and co-located with 3 others on this same peninsula. Bombed and occupied by refugees in the Homeland War between 1990-1995, the hotel has been been refurbished to a very comfortable, modern and spacious standard. The rooms are a good size with generous balconies all overlooking the Adriatic and the nearer Elafiti Islands; however, they are close together and the walls not particularly think, so if you are unfortunate to have Italian, German or Baltic nationals next to you, you will need to turn up your TV. The common parts are spacious and chilled, but beware that the indoor pool is part of the Wellness Centre for which there is an admission charge. The charm of Dubrovnik is within its Old City which is about 5km distant. Taxis are expensive, as are restaurants, but the No6 bus to the Old City stops right outside the hotel, is frequent and easy to use (tickets from reception are cheaper than on the bus itself). There is a lovely walkway from the hotel to the Lapad cove (20 mins), complete with bars and restaurants. There are numerous boat excursions from the Old City to the islands and to Cavtats (reminiscent of the old Mediterranean villages though now under the flight path some 1km away). One of these conveniently stops at the jetty below the hotel. Croatians are friendly, proud of their heritage - and most speak some English! Would definitely return - off season - for another chilled week.
“Best Holiday We Have Ever Had!”
This hotel should be 5 star. The rooms were spotless and the sea view perfect. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We both really enjoyed the breakfast buffet which covered all tastes. We ate the evening buffet once and that was very good too. It was nice for the hotel to have its own beach. It is a pebble beach so water shoes are advisible. The water is clear and clean. Sunbeds and towels were free to hotel guests. Having a local bus outside the hotel going to Old Town Dubrovnik every 10 minutes was an added plus. I have already recommended this hotel and your whole package to our friends.
“A very pleasant experience”
From our arrival at the President Hotel we were very impressed with the friendliness of the staff. Friendly and courteous but not stiff. We were asked about our trip and whether we were tired or not. Very nice. The room we were given was very clean. This is a quality that I value above all. The bed was comfortable, and our room was ample. We had a double bed, and the room had a sitting area as well. The balcony was exceptional - and the sunsets provided a beautiful end of day experience. The hotel breakfast was bountiful, from grains and fruits to eggs fried on request. Meats, juices, crepes, etc. was fresh and plentiful. We ate dinner at the restaurant and the food was well presented, and the service was good. When we return to Dubrovnik we will be staying at this hotel again.
“Would highly reccommend:)”
My wife and I stayed at the Valamar Dubrovnik Hotel in July and it was one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. The rooms were very spacious and the sea views were amazing. The staff were all very friendly and could not do enough for us. The food in the hotel was first class, at breakfast you had a choice of fresh fruits(not tinned), breads, cheese's, hams and even cooked selections. There was a very relaxed atmosphere around the hotel and at night there was always some form of entertainment in the bar. The photos on the hotel's website (although very accurate) do not do it justice until you actually get there and take in the views etc for yourself it is amazing!! The hotel is a bit outside of the old city but the bus stop is right outside the hotel door and as its the first stop you are always gauranteed a seat and it is only around 90p down to the old city We will definately be going back to this hotel again as it was a most wonderful experience which just made our holiday that little bit special. A big thanks to all the staff in the hotel for your professional manner and friendliness.
“Quality hotel in a lovely position”
Just returned (beg. of Oct 2008)from a 3 night stay at this hotel. The hotel was everything we expect from a 4 star hotel. The bed was wide & comfortable, plenty of hot water, lovely balcony with fabulous views out to sea.The swimming pool was clean, large & warm & we shared it with only a few other guests. The spa facilities were also very good. We liked the position of the hotel on the Babin Kuk peninsula with its lovely coastal paths & it is only a 10 minute bus ride from the old city of Dubruvnik. You need to eat either at the hotel(a wide selection of food to suit all tastes) or in Dubrovnik as we couldn't find particularly appealing restaurants nearby. We did find Croation food slightly over-salted for our taste wherever we ate. I would be happy to return to this hotel.
