The hotel is not terrible but would probably be more a 3 stars than a 4. The pool is small, there are not enough deck chairs for even half of the guests and nobody at reception knows anything about neighbouring vineyards, despite the fact that the hotel is nestled in the middle of the vinho verde region and literally surrounded by wine producers. The quality of the breakfast is risible and the staff is - apart from a couple of exceptions - quite unfriendly and with really basic English. The rooms are small and dark, the whole feel of the place is more of a ski chalet than a hotel for all seasons and it's also quite difficult to find. Honestly, I wouldn't go back.

My husband and I spent our honeymoon here, and it was truly delightful. We were welcomed warmly and treated to lots of special touches, including lemonade at check in and chocolates at bedtime. The owner is amazingly gracious and gave us a detailed tour of the house, which is a real treat for anyone interested in historic homes. It's beautifully maintained with a spectacular garden and pool--plus the cutest chocolate labrador named Mel.

A beautiful oasis in the hills of Douro. Three acres of gardens, outdoor pool, even a disused chapel with all the fittings intact. A perfect place to unwind.
The hosts, Catherine and Tony, speak French and Portuguese only; my partner and I speak only English. Despite the language barrier we had a great time and they were the perfect hosts, treating us almost as family.
Generous, big-hearted people. We look forward to visiting again; next time with at least the rudiments of French.

This is a place where I could see myself stay for a longer time to relax and calm down. The area is stunningly beautiful and the Quinta overlooks the Douro river. It is also a good place to explore the region. The personnel is great, the new rooms are very nice, and their port and wines are very good. Probably the best place to stay at the Douro!
As an example of the good service I just mentioned to them that I thought the bed was a bit hard, and they immediately added an additional layer to the bed making it softer.

A recommander !
