As always a fabulous stay. The walk through the woods to Lynmouth via WatersMeet was as excellent as always.

Excellent location to the moors, the East Lyn river and Lynmouth. The Bly drawback is the uphill walk back to the hotel after a day of walking the area.

The perfect English inn experience
My wife and I had a wonderful stay at the Blue Ball Inn. We were looking for a perfectly English country inn experience with some contemporary comforts and we found them at this B'nB steeped in 600+ years of tradition. The approach of the staff is very accommodating and adeptly practice modern hospitality while maintaining their casualness. eg. for every breakfast/dinner we found a table reserved in our name, blocked with a simple name card on it. Being in the midst of Devon and Exmoor they realize guests are keen to go on walks- to that end they have detailed many walks of varying durations and ease of outing, and have printed copies of each on hand as well. Their website is very professional, up to date and helpful, and the differences and features of each room is well laid out. Our room was a queen + single bed and very spacious. Bed was comfortable, the bathroom was modern with new fittings and a nice bath/shower combination. The meals were very satisfying- my wife is vegetarian and at breakfast was offered a tasty, substantial vegetarian 'sausage' in lieu of meat. The full English breakfast is cooked to your specific order. The dinner menu and quality were really good too, changed daily- the duck breast was done great, very springy and tasty. Lastly, they have a great pub/bar with local brews (they are a Casque Marque- lost on me unfortunately but a standard of pub excellence for serving cask ale) as well as ice cold taps.

Really nice place, can’t really find fault, the food was absolutely fabulous, as was the service given by everyone ,and it was very clear it was because they really cared ,not because they are told to. Fantastic if you’re a dog owner and still fun if not , did not smell of dogs at all. Dogs are made very welcome, and the town of Lynmouth is simply stunning, Recommended

Blue Ball Inn
The Blue Ball Inn is a great place to stay. The only real downside to the stay was the fact that they could not provide Wheat and Gluten free bread or cereal for my wife at breakfast. As these are readily available I can not understand why neither are stocked. Apart from that gripe everything else was very good.

Excellent base to explore North Devon...
The staff were all friendly and made us very welcome, a very dog friendly pub/hotel. The food was excellent, being well cooked, tasty and served hot. The breakfast was plentiful and the options good. The room was comfortable and clean but my only minor complaint is that it being on the corner of the building it was a tad on the cold side due to the winter weather. The windows could do with being fixed as the wild exmoor wind whistled through despite them being shut.! The noise woke me in the early hours. An excellent base to explore Devon with lots of superb walks and sights to visit close to hand. An excellent hotelthat is dog friendly, superb food and welcoming staff. Brilliant..!

Stopover at The Blue Ball Inn
Had a really good one night stop at the Blue Ball. Room was bright and airy if slightly 'tired' however the cost was excellent so you shouldn't expect 5*. The dinner food was great and really good value. Staff were friendly and attentive and the beer was excellent. Only negative was at breakfast, son just wanted sausage rather than a full english but could only have two (rather than 3 asked for) as they only order in the exact amount per day??? Bizarre. Other than that the stay was great and would definitely stop again but next time would take some extra bangers as back up.

This was a trip down memory lane for my wife and me, we hadn't visited this area for over fifty year
The welcome we received was wonderful. The natives were friendly, the food was very good and the scenery spectacular in this lovely area of North Devon. The owners and staff were very attentive and our only adverse comment would be that the bed could have been more comfortable. It has taken us over fifty years to rediscover this delightful area of Devon that we had almost forgotten and it hasn't changed a bit. we also took the opportunity to visit friends in the area from our youth that we hadn't seen in a long time. I suspect we'll be back again soon.
