    Sam Marino Hotel Guide

Medieval mountaintop fortresses and showy military pomp entice visitors to explore history-steeped San Marino. One of the smallest and wealthiest countries in the world, San Marino is a welcoming step back in time where locals gather in cozy public squares, national treasures are proudly displayed, and visitors indulge in iconic Italian dishes at a discount. Cheap hotel deals in San Marino are plentiful, making the charming country even more alluring.

Completely surrounded by Italy, San Marino encompasses the Appenine Mountains. Perched high atop Monte Titano, the City of San Marino is the country's capital. Here, there are plenty of gorgeous sites to explore and even more San Marino hotel deals to accommodate visitors on a budget. Most San Marino hotels are located within the capital, ranging from special resorts to moderate lodgings. If you are travelling in the summer, you'll want to book your rooms early to receive reservations at the best prices.

Atop the cliffs, ancient walls encircle the community, offering a majestic city gate entrance leading to the Three Towers on each of Titano's peaks. At 11th-century Guaita, climb to the top of the medieval structure's tower, marvel at the wall carvings, and relish the Chapel of Rocca's serenity.

From Guaita, walk along the city wall to the second tower, Cesta Castle. A 13th-century site, Cesta is home to the Museum of Archaic Arms. Climb up to its tower for the best view of the valleys and Adriatic Sea.

In addition to breathtaking fortresses, San Marino offers plenty of impressive attractions. Savour the beauty of Basilica di San Marino, its surrounding square and the town hall at Palazzo Pubblico. Don't miss the colourful changing of the guard ceremony performed by vibrantly uniformed soldiers at the Palazzo. Once you've explored the city, take the funicular down the mountain to Borgo Maggiore for abundant shopping and the Ferrari Museum.

Because San Marino doesn't charge the taxes found in Italy, restaurants, souvenirs, and hotels in San Marino are generally cheaper than in nearby Italy. Dogana is just west of Italian seaside town Rimini and makes a good base point for touring Rimini. Alternately, during busy summer months, less expensive San Marino hotel packages may offer better rates in Rimini. A cheap San Marino hotel deal is not difficult to find and can turn your stunning excursion to San Marino into the trip of a lifetime.

    "Marvelous place, great location"
The rooms have nice views and are comfortable while being a bit small. Beds are wonderful and big. We had dinner at the restaurant and that was a nice experience too. Very clean and fresh. As we climbed hill in our car, we asked where to park as it was scarce, we were told parking 5, but hotel then gave us a pass for lot 6. It was a great place and we wish we had more then a day there.

    "GREAT LOCATION, BEAUTIFUL VIEW!"
San Marino is a great visit and it's location near Rimini Beach is wonderful during the summer season. The Hotel is near a Parking area and, while there is a charge, it is relatively cheap. The Hotel is clean and modern. We had a corner room and an upper floor. The view was incredible! The breakfast was nice, they even freshly cooked eggs for us on demand. Shopping and eating at San Marino is neverending. The hikes around the Republic are difficult but worth the time and energy. On the weekends you can make it down below at the Gelateria for live music and Mojitos! We visited many ciites and stayed at many hotels during our excusion to Italy, Hotel Cesare won the contest for the smallest shower!

    "Nice hotel with pool"
We chose this hotel for the enclosed pool for our children. Room was spacious, comfortable and clean. Breakfast was very good with a lot of choices. Only a 15-20 minute drive to the historical center parking lots so not far from activity but the view was of a highway on one side and a rock wall on the other, although it was a nice view on the other side of the highway. Our children enjoyed the pool, however, the hot tub was not very good. It was room temperature and looked like it could use a cleaning. Other than that the hotel was great and would recommend it to families.

    "Comfortable little find, nightmare arrival."
The hotel in itself is great, for the price, really friendly staff, nice room, not expensive, everything. The problem lies in the fact that it is right on a highway. The website may say that it is a few hundred metres from the stop for buses to/from Rimini - what it does not say is that you are practically taking your life in your hands to walk alongside a highway to get to it, especially in the dark. My only way to reach it was by taxi, for the sake of 300 dangerous metres - and the minimum call-out charge is 15 euros. Otherwise, the hotel is perfectly acceptable and a pleasure to stay in. Nice little restaurant alongside too.

"Smart apartments, long way from San Marino Old Tow"
A long way from the old town, which is the main (only) reason to come to San Marino for most people, but walking distance to the football ground, which was handy for us. Reception staff didn't speak any English. Clean and very nice apartments though.
