    Cambodia Hotel Guide

Cambodia has earned its place on the Southeast Asian tourist trail thanks to its stunning temples, white-sand beaches, forest-laden hills, lush jungles, laid-back offshore islands, and lively capital. The intoxicating present is wrapped up in a vibrant culture and incredible landscape waiting to be discovered by adventurous travellers.

Today's Cambodia was born of the mighty Khmer empire that once ruled over what are modern Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand. Remnants of the fabled empire can still be seen at the temples of Angkor. The most iconic temple in the country, Angkor Wat, astounds with its fusion of spiritual devotion and creative innovation, and its symmetry, size, and scale are awe-inspiring. Many Cambodia hotels are located close to this slice of heaven on earth; the heart and soul of the country.

Many visitors come to Cambodia for the temples, but fall in love with the cities and villages. The capital of Phnom Penh is a feast for the senses. From the banks of the Mekong River, the city is an undiscovered gem where crowded markets sell fresh fruits and religious icons, museums highlight the country's fascinating history, and the air of the many monasteries is thick with the aroma of incense.

Some of the best cheap hotel deals in Cambodia can be found in Phnom Penh. Book rooms in the Boeng Kak neighbourhood to mingle with backpackers and expats, find Cambodia hotel deals near Samdech Sothearos Boulevard to be close to major sights like the Royal Palace, National Assembly and Silver Pagoda, or look for Cambodia hotel packages near the riverfront to experience the chicest part of the city.

To experience the timeless landscapes of rice paddies and enjoy the rhythm of rural life, look for a cheap Cambodia hotel deal on the tropical south coast or near the Cardamom Mountains where exotic wildlife thrives and eco-tourism reigns. The astonishingly beautiful mountain range is home to Asian elephants, tigers, pangolins, Siamese crocodiles, and other threatened species. Trekking through the thick jungle is one of the most special experiences in Cambodia.

    When to Go

It is always warm in Cambodia, but the temperatures become stifling in April and May, and June and July are often marked by heavy rains. One of the best times to book hotels in Cambodia is during the cool season in September and October when both the heat and rain dissipate. Make reservations early at the top hotels to get the lowest rates during this season, or visit during the wet season to get special discount prices on rooms. Even during the rainiest parts of the year, it usually only rains for a few hours in the afternoon or evenings, leaving you plenty of time to explore the country.

"Great breakfast but room was just ok"
The room was 3-star, nothing to shout about. Buffet breakfast was great, with lots of choices. Plenty of restaurants in the casino hotel complex. Fairly good location, between airport and downtown. Fitness facility was new and more than adequate.

    "Good location and nice hotel"
I stayed 4 nights at the Ohana. My room/bed were clean and comfortable (I like hard mattresses!). The shower was fine although the water temp changed from hot to tepid on a regular cycle. A/C was fine. There was some noise from the street at night but not enough to keep me awake (there are 2 nightclubs directly opposite and a market a few metres down the street). Staff were friendly and the pool area looked nice. I ate at the restaurant and the meal was lovely and no more expensive than others restaurants I'd eaten at. Breakfast on the top floor was fine although I only ever eat fruit and pastries. There seemed to be heaps of local food on offer though. I loved the breakfast room which had a open area where you could perch overlooking the Mekong - a nice way to start the day.

    "Great location and staff"
This hotel is located within walking distance of restaurants, pubs and shops and if you want to go further there are tuk tuk lined up out side. The roof pool was refreshing and clean. My partner was never out of it.staff are always willing to help. There are some works going on currently but this is only during the day we didn't mind this. Our sink wobbled but it worked. The bed is massive and the room spacious. The views from the roof are amazing. I would go to this hotel again. Well worth the money

    "Nice and quiet"
The hotel is not in the main tourist area which is good and bad. The good is it is quiet. The bad is you will need to use tuk tuks or rent a motorbike to get around. Hotel got us a minibike for 6usd a day. It appears that the hotel was recently renovated so everything worked great. The only exception was the mini fridge, which was quite old, so maybe it was a holdover from times gone by. The pictures on expedia are accurate in the depection of the room. Breakfast was served in your patio which was nice. However the meal selection was very limited (the picture of food on expeda is of a meal that I was never offered). Hotel lost power twice in one day, but I can not fault them as it appeared to be city wide. However the back up generator only runs an emergency light and water pump, so no ac or any other electrical supplies. I liked this hotel and would gladly stay at it again.

"Great hotel, but Expedia booking problem!"
Booked flight and hotel package online. Hotel did not get flight details from Expedia. No requirement stated on confirmation email from Expedia. Meant we waited for free shuttle, ended up taking taxi. Hotel staff are very friendly and resort is well maintained. Highly recommended. It's out of town, so great for families, and the pool is fantastic after a day at the temples. The bathroom shower water did not drain, but a call to housekeeping resulted in maintenance coming up immediately and sorting out the problem. Overall a good stay.

Great hotel and comfy room. Only thing is takes a few days for the room to cool down with the air conditioning to make it comfortable to sleep. Food was good. Can't say enough how friendly the staff was.
