Dining
Palace Arms - Formal service, large portions, a 900-choice wine selection, and a chef who presents each dish to the guests are hallmarks of this quiet restaurant, decorated with antiques dating from 1670—including a pair of dueling pistols said to have belonged to Napoleon and Louisa—and furnished with meticulously set tables, red-leather booths, and 22 replicas of revolutionary battle flags.
Churchill Bar - Located off the atrium and across from the Palace Arms, this cigar bar is a quiet hideaway with red-leather wingback chairs and sofa, a library, and premium spirits, including single-malt scotches and small-batch bourbons. Lunch and hors d'oeuvres are also served.
Ship Tavern - Lunch and dinner are served at this casual restaurant and bar, which evokes early American waterfront taverns, with its crow's nest in the center of the room, model Clipper ships, and nautical decor. Onion soup, prime rib, seafood, signature beers, and the piano cabaret are highlights.
Ellyngton's - The Brown Palace's main dining room—a curved room with windows overlooking Denver's financial district—serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and is known locally as the place where power brokers make deals.
Champagne Brunch - Guests can choose from four tiers: Brunch only, or brunch plus Domaine Chandon, Moet et Chandon, or Dom Perignon Champagne. Advanced reservations recommended.
Traditional Afternoon Tea - Scones, pastries, and tea sandwiches. Devonshire cream shipped directly from England. Music of a harpist or pianist provided.
Atrium Cocktails and Tapas - Live music and cocktails. Drinks can be enjoyed with tapas Thursday through Saturday.

“The Victorian Bourgeoisie had great taste.”
The Brown Palace was the pinnacle of bourgeois luxury in Denver during the Victorian era and still continues with that elegance. The room was extremely comfortable. The staff was respectful and nice. The food was out of this world, but keep in mind that the price range is around what you would expect for a top notch hotel. The history of the hotel includes a Victorian murder love triangle and has hosted presidents.
“even a false fire alarm can't stop a top rating!”
Other than the fire alarm going off at 2am....the stay was perfect and the staff could not have been more friendly and accomodating. only wish i had more time to experience all the amenities the hotel offered...esp the Tavern, Churchill's Scotch & Cigar Bar, and the fine dining restaurant.....next time!!
“Wonderful and Beautiful Hotel”
I purchased an upgrade to the "Top of the Brown" level room. Terrific room, spacious, quiet, clean. Many hotels of "historic significance" trade on that status alone and the rooms/service tend to suffer. Not so with the Brown Palace. - And this hotel definately has a tremendous historical significance for Denver. Every member of the staff I came in contact with was friendly and very helpful. It was a quick trip for me, but I will definately stay again when I can enjoy all the Brown Palace has to offer.
“Great for couples”
My wife and I loved the hotel and the history. My only "complaint" is I didn't feel like going out of the hotel one night for dinner, so I tried the Ships Tavern. The first two beers I requested off the menu, they did not have. Not a big deal, but I got up and went to the Yardhouse and had my choice of 113 tap beers!
“Great value in a historic downtown hotel.”
Perfect location walking distance to 16th Street Mall shopping and restaurants. Modest sized rooms that are very nicely decorated, comfortable beds and amenities, and excellent service. This is a historic hotel that is beautifully restored.
“Historic Elegance”
Service deserves a 5 everywhere except housekeeping, which I would rate 3. The food and restaurant staff were great; the hotel is a fascinating treasure. I would definitely recommend the Brown Palace to Denver visitors who appreciate historic elegance.
“Brown Palace”
Good location, spacious clean room, and very pleasant staff - Just what I needed!
“The Brown Palace a Superb Stay for the Holiday!”
Every Staff Member we came in contact with gave us excellent service. They always expressed their desire to accomodate us and did so right away, for example, the refrigeratior was delivered to our room in a timely manner, to keep our foodstuffs cool. We really appreciated our meal at the Ships Tavern on Christmas evening. The Hotel was beautifully decorated and lifted our spirits, Thank you!
“Enjoy a trip back in time”
Wonderful old hotel. All the modern amenities while retaining the charm and appearance of a grand property. Will stay here again. Not the same cookie cutter enter city hotel
“A Great Denver Experience”
The Brown Palace is in an excellent downtown location. I was able to walk just about everywhere in the downtown area and took the free trolly on 16th street to Coors Field for a ballgame. The hotel itself had a real Old West elegance and was well maintained. The staff was friendly and attentive. My room (Signature King) was spacious and clean with a really nice bathroom. It had a walk-in shower with two showerheads, including an overhead "rain shower". There was twice-a-day maid visits with turndown service (always a nice touch) that included chocolates, a bucket of ice and a pitcher of water from the hotel's private artesian well. The restaurants, while a bit pricy as with most upscale hotels, were nicely appointed with good food and attentive service. If I ever travel to Denver in the future, I will stay at The Brown.
