Great place to chill outPosted 23-Jun-2013
Pros: English Garden
Cons: The leaky roof and the non-existence of a covered area to enjoy the beauty of the hills even while its raining Cs&Ds.
Location: a 5-star for the guys who are not coming to Mussoorie only to catch up on Reading!!!
The monsoons are a dreadful time to be in this hotel. I was there in mid-June 2013. The roof leakages are almost everywhere-be it the Restaurant or Hanging Garden-just save your plate so that your toast does not become soggy! The manpower is trained very well. They are smart guys who are adequately trained to brace-up with the ever-smarting Dilliwallahs-who drive in their SUVs at the faintest hint of an extended weekend. The room rates are fine given their huge locational advantage-close to the Mall(to take care of the ladies' shopping pangs) as well as close to nature on the garden side(The English Garden is a huge PULL for this property). The executive rooms are a wee bit cramped. The Valley-facing ones may be fine but they come with a biggish premium. You will do well to stay here, just make sure that you google the weather forecast for the days of your stay before booking. I must disclose here that I did not-and paid for it. As a disclaimer I must add here that the monsoons this time were somewhat early and very severe(The Uttarakhand devastation has caught all eye-balls). Even the locals were surprised by the 10-11degree Celsius in mid-June. This was my 2nd consecutive stay at the same property-so take it with a pinch of salt!!!

Over priced, joke it was a 4 star propertyPosted 26-Jul-2012
Pros: Absolute Nothing
Location: In the photos you see that they have good view. But it was full of waste and very bad view.
The place was not clean according to the expectation. Staff had laid back attitude. I dont recommend this hotel to anyone. Never ever go there.

Disappointing Stay in MussooriePosted 10-Jul-2012
Cons: Attitude of the management
Location: Choose the time of year carefully - The highlight of Mussoorie really are the views (when you an see them!)
What can I say - it's not what it says it is. The photos on the website are misleading, it appears much grander than it actually is. Its all a bit tired and shabby, the management are unhelpful (even when their own staff make mistakes), the restaurant only offers a buffet, no wireless connectivity, etc etc etc. Our stay started badly, we booked for 4 people as a family, were given 2 adjacent rooms that didn't connect - upon querying this we were offered two extra beds in the one room, then a suite (still with one bed, but they would supply the extras). Then the suite offer was withdrawn, the 2 extra beds wouldn't fit in the room, so my son slept on the sofa! The bathroom was tatty and not that clean, with a leaking toilet and a constant smell of drains. All the carpets in the place were worn and dirty, the whole decor all knocked and worst for wear. On expressing my dissatisfaction with the whole place, including the service, and that I was tempted to check out there and then I was greeted with 'We'll survive!". It didn't end there, when checking out it took nearly an hour to get the bill, payable only in cash - be warned that ATM's here will only dispense Rs4000 in Rs100 notes - if you can find one that works. Activities in the hotel, just a worn out table tennis set and a few broken bats in a function room littered with chairs and looking like the last function had just finished, there is a pool table available at extra charge. Spa? We avoided it. Hotel, best avoid!
