“Great place to stay, off the main street, but very accessible!”
Desk person was great! Very polite, accomodating and friendly! Room was very clean and up to date. This hotel was off the main street in Deadwood but very accessible. Trolley service was right at front door! The only negative was the screaming, running kids but that has nothing to do with the hotel quality. Hard to find a hotel with steel walls and floors. Just remember it is a tourist area and there will always be unruley kids and oblivious parents.
“We will be returning to stay here again.”
We were pleased with the accomondations at the Hickok House. We had a good time even though the weather was not the best. The staff were friendly and helped us to schedule our return during Sturgis week (they actually had openings.) The rooms were clean and comfortable. The restaurant had good food and the staff there was funny and very nice.
“Deadwood's finest”
Had a wonderful experience in Deadwood thanks to the Best Western's Hickok House.
“fun and conveant”
everything was fun and relaxed
“Good stay in Deadwood”
This hotel met our expectations. Our room was clean and comfortable. We ate at the on-site restaurant twice for breakfast. Food was good, prices were reasonable and it was very convenient. Our only complaint is that the hot tub was not heated properly when we first tried to use it. The manager turned onthe heat, but we weren't able to enjoy it as planned.
“Friendly, clean, good location”
A Best Western so smaller room sizes than most but still perfectly adequate. Clean, no fridge / microwave but did have coffee making facilities in room. The staff were very accomodating and the on site bar with a few gaming machines was the ideal place for a pre or post dinner drink. Sue was especially lovely and great company. Deadwood centre is a pleasant ten minute walk away or the trolly stops right outside (a dollar each way). The hills surrounding the hotel / town are beautiful and we would recommend a night or two in Deadwood, althought you could easily spend a week in the area. We will definitely return to the Hicock and the beautiful Black Hills.
“Would not be my first choice”
Staff was friendly. Our room had 2 different heaters and 3 thermostats, very confusing. We actually laughed about the 3rd one running the heater in the next room. The bed was horrible, the boxspring had no 'box' and the matress was worn in the middle so we kept sliding to the middle of the bed all night. The shower was ok, unless someone else in a nearby room started their shower or flushed the toilet, then it was blazing hot or freezing cold. Very 'out of the way', nice if you're not there to take advantage of all of the casinos on Main Street. The main reason we stayed there was because we were only going for one night, booked online and they were only 1 of 2 hotels that would let us book one night. Would choose the other hotel next time.
“Not what I was expecting:(”
The hotel's heating system was not adequate. It was warm on one side of the room and freezing on the other. There was a gap at the bottom of the door and you could see daylight. You could hear just about everything that went on outside of the room. We had horrible people next to us and the parking isn't very good either. On the other hand, the food in the restaurant was excellent and the people that waited on us were AWESOME! I gambled a bit in their casino and the people there was very nice also.
“Hotel service was good but the room just plain sucked”
The room was old and it needed some work done to it
