It's an older place that looks like it's in the process of renovation. It served it's purpose as a place to sleep when I need a place at the last minute when I had a vrbo cancel on me at the last minute. The floors needed a vacuum underneath the table and bed and the floor mopped before we checked in.

We liked the Atlantic ocean view from the property pool side was great! The pool water warm. Excellent beach front sand. If you are a surfer, great spot. Guarded and secure- life guard and plane alerts were seen when rip tides occurred. The property main building is being rennervated, and we hope that when we return next year, there would be vast improvement in cleaning the rooms, and the exterior/ interior of the building. It is located in a great area.

We have been coming to this property for 8 years now. It has progressively went downhill over the past 2 years. This spring break was atrocious tho. The front desk staff is amazing but the crackheads they have cleaning the place need lessons. We had no towels in our room upon arriving besides used ones in the bathroom and kitchen still wet. The floor was filthy along with shaved hair all over the vanity counter. Fake fingernails on the bathroom floor and Marijuana roaches on the balcony. Dirty dishes in the sink and a dead roach in the back of the bible left in the drawer. The pool has been redone and they are under new management probably trying to fix all the wrongs but we wont be back. I did let front desk know and he brought me plenty of cleaning supplies along with so many apologies. I understand he does not clean the rooms. He was great. But renovations have nothing to do with cleanliness. I would not ever recommend the Makai to anyone's else.

Oh where to start… first pulling up we thought this is not our hotel, very old, run down, just looks like it lacking alot of maintenance and tlc. Checking in was great, staff super friendly and no issues. Then we experienced our room… no air conditioning for day 1 had to move us to another room for our 2nd night, there was mold inside the ac unit, it smelled clean but everything was dingy or stained, rusted lamps on the bottom, side chairs stained, bathroom… so many things, just gross! Very large dead bug as we entered also! Lock on door to the patio was not only broke but you could see outside from the hole. It was directly on the beach but parking is allowed in front of hotel so you have everyone coming up from the beach to jump in the pool. Pool chairs were nice but lacking many. Pool was clean. Parking wasn’t bad. Lots of mischief at nite, and the smell of weed is constant everywhere all day/night. Which wasn’t bad compared to a lot of things lol Price was good, would I stay again NO!!!! It felt unsafe and unsanitary overall. Not enough good to out weigh the endless amounts of bad, I’m not sure how they even pass inspection, yes that bad!!!

Property has been declining for years. Old owners have sold it. New owners seem to want to make changes. The hot breakfast isn’t there as room being renovated. Grab n go was offered. Didn’t know til check in for that. Staffing is big issue. Yes it was beek week. But rooms not ready til after 6 pm is a bit crazy. Parking for trailer is nice but was told had to stay at hotel for that. The paper showed non hotel guess could pay to park for $10 more. So can stay at nicer hotels and still have space to park. House keeping was nice and tried to accommodate but just not enough of them to cover whole hotel.

The location was perfect for Daytona bike week. The room rates were increased because of it being bike week which is normal with function like this. But the room was only cleaned on the next day after we arrived, and never cleaned for the rest of the week. The rooms were ok, just could use some updates everything was very aged.

It was a complete dump, the grossest place. I've ever seen. I couldn't even stay. I open the door walked in. Turn around and walked out, could not get my money back. I'm gonna call Expedia when I get time. See if I get some money back. They want high end price as well

To be fair, I had an idea that the hotel was not a new building. The concrete structure is crubling from decades of salty air/water. This building has had its run, it needs tore down. When something terrible happens the government that allows this facility to remain open should be held accountable in a court of law.

The motel was dirty. Balcony was not cleaned. Trash left. Nothing in bathtub i was afraid i would fall. I will never stay there again. No breakfast too much money for what we got. It was old but they could have cleaned it. Rooms not ready until 4pm. A little late for check in

thank you Ms. Caroline for your review. 4PM is standard check in time. We can not put bath mats in the tubs, per Health Dept., because someone might trip on them. We are renovating the breakfast area so although one does not pay for the complimentary breakfast, we do provide Grab-n-Go bags while we are upgrading. So sorry the hotel did not live up to your expectations. Hope you will come again after the renovations are complete.

It was NOISY because it was bike week and we had a bathroom window that was on the street. ALSO, they had many bikers that came in late. Not the fault of the lodge at all. They are obviously making many improvements to the lodge. The dining area was being remodeled. Again out of their control. STAFF WAS EXCELLENT ! Pool are and hot tub were beautiful. Lots of improvements after the hurricanes that had devastated this area. I WOULD stay here again.

Place was filthy doors, door frames fixtures all grimy to the touch. They had a schedule for room cleaning NEVER came to clean room. Sheets didn’t look clean that were on the bed to start I don’t know how the rooms were connected but noisy each night hard to sleep Dusty dirty filthy place stay away. I would have left but it was the Daytona 500 weekend no rooms available so had to just live through it Never stay there again

So during events like the 500, we tend to the reservation rooms and ask guests to come to the front desk for any needs they might have.

All the pool and hot tub areas on which I booked for are not working and have been drained out. We could not get our heat to work it was freezing in the room and you can hear everything the people next to you are doing

Room not worth the $268 nightly rate. Once checked in, the bathroom had no toilet paper. When I tried to call front desk, phone did not work, had too much static to hear anything. Guy at front desk had to come to the room to Ask if all ok and bring toilet paper. When I showered I realized folded towel had big hole from one end to half the towel. Since phone didn’t work I had to take it to front desk to exchange. Room had one plastic cup with no cover and found dirty EarPod left behind and obviously overlooked when cleaning. Overall a very unpleasant experience. I would give half a star if had I had the option.

This property was absolutely awful. Save your money and do not stay here! The staff was beyond unfriendly flat out rude. We almost got stuck in the elevator that should not be in use. There was a burn hole in the blanket for the bed. Everything is rusty and in terrible condition. The chair in the room almost looks moldy. The toilet didn’t work. We had originally booked a king bed with a pull out sofa. To find out they don’t even have a room like that available so we switched too a double bed room. Again our inconvenience but the staff was far from easy to work with. Upon check out I was told the pictures online are probably from about 1960 beyond misleading. I have many pictures of how disgusting this place is. Beyond disappointed.

The first room they gave had a horrible smell as if something dies in there. The tub was gross, the oven looked like it hadnt been cleaned in months! The second room was at least clean but the bedding was poor, it was noisy people slamming doors, kids screaming!! I will never stay there again

This property is older but under new ownership. They are renovating and updating. Because of hurricane damage some serviices were not available as they usually are but renovations and repairs are ongoing. Including repairs from huricane damage. The staff is wonderful.. Lauren went out of her way to make our stay memorable. Thank you

This property was a last minute change for us. While the decor inside is older it was clean. The outside has been redone and the beachfront and pool areas were very nice and well tended
