“Week end at the Gables”

Excellent breakfast. Very friendly staff (Bit too jolly for me first thing in the morning!) but better than being miseable first thing like me.

“Excellent Service”

Our stay at The Gables was very enjoyable. The owners are very welcoming and accomodating. The family room was surprisingly large compared to previous places we have stayed at. Parking is limited however there is also on street parking which is free after 18.00 until 10.00 the following day. Located in the centre of Ambleside it is easy to walk to local restaurants. English breakfasts are fresh cooked for each guest with enough to keep you going all day. Additionally a fridge is provided for guests use which is a nice touch. Would thouroughly recommend it.

“Homely B&B”

Ambleside is a great centre to explore the Lakes District and the Gables a friendly home away from home to return to each night. The staff was very helpful, my room was clean and comfortable, and restaurants were close by. A small car park at the side of the hotel allowed for off street parking.

“precis of our stay”

The Gables Guest House is ideally located in Ambleside for our 3 night stay. There is limited car parking available. Our room on the second floor had pleasant views from 2 windows overlooking the nearby church and mountains and the other across sports area. The bed was very comfortable and breakfast was great. The only complaint we had with our stay was lack of hot water for morning showers. We did let the owner know but wasn't fixed.
