“Excellent family run guesthouse in great location”

My wife and I just had a 2 night stay in this guesthouse. We were very impressed with character and facilities that this guesthouse had to offer. There is a safe and convenient place to park your vehicle. We were greeted by the owner at chekin. He took the time to give us a map of the local area and point out places of interest and recommended places to eat and visit during our stay. The guesthouse is walking distance from both the towns of Bowness and Windemere which made it a great location to make our base. The accommodation was fitted out to a high standard and is decorated with a lot of antique memorabilia and furniture which truly gave this place so much character. There was a nice menu on offer for breakfast in the morning.

“Very friendly service”

Very friendly and knowledgeable service from the proprietor. Stayed in a super-king room with 4-poster, very comfortable, well-equipped, and well decorated (faux victorian) room. Room was impressively clean, and plenty of thought was put into the accoutrements, with wine glasses provided and plenty of tea and coffee. There was a large lounge with travel guides and books for guests to borrow. In addition, the proprietor made some very good recommendations for restaurants in Bowness (the Postilion, and Jacksons bistro). Breakfast was good with good choices available. The quality of the full english was the weakest part of the stay, but by no means bad! Would perhaps have benefited from an additional evening [cold] food service, but again I'm really nitpicking at what was an extremely comfortable and well-done guesthouse.

“Highly recommended guest house”

This is a very comfortable guest house, well positioned (to access Windermere and Bowness on foot) and with the word quality going through it like a stick of rock! The hosts couldn't do enough for you and the breakfast was generous, hot plated and really tasty. Parking on site was a great bonus too, especially as we could see how others visiting the area, were parking in the already busy streets. Thank you June and Ross, you were the perfect hosts!

“Newstead in Windermere.”

Very friendly and great breakfast in the morning!! Great location to Windermere, 5 minute walk or 10 - 15 minutes down the road to Bowness on Windermere.

“Fab”

This hotel/guest house was great. The owners were so helpful when we arrived, telling us where the best places to eat were in both Windermere and Bowness. Giving us details of good drives etc. The hotel was only minutes away from the town - so easy enough to walk in for a drink or to eat. The room was spotless (though I did miss a bath to soak in after a days walking!). However, small point. The food was lovely and the choice impressive. I would definitely recommend this hotel as a great base from which to explore the Lake District.

“Fab Location”

Lovely welcome when arriving with plenty information if your new to the area or needing help in what to do. Local attractions are a short walk around this location and some really nice Cafe and restaurants to eat in. We'll be back
