This was our 10th stay at Playa Azul and we'll keep coming back! The property, just like us, is showing it's age a bit, but the hallmarks that we have come to enjoy are still there, Great and Friendly staff, clean and well maintain facilities, and great food! We also enjoyed the snorkeling very much, which is right off their beach, plenty of fish to see of many varieties. Wifi coverage was fantastic. We also love the location and the tranquil surroundings. A safe running trail, which we used daily, is right out in front of the property. Cab service is easily accessed and only a 10 minute ride to city center. We had an absolutely great and relaxing time at the Playa Azul! We can't wait to go back!

Very clean and Staff was extremely polite and helpful. Rooms are older but they were clean and comfortable! Air conditioning was very good but not consistent ( so you had to manage the thermostat) but it wasnt a problem at all for us. Food at the restaurants was always good and desserts too! You can get snorkeling gear right on site and the reefs are full of lots of fish 🐠! It’s a ways away from downtown which was nice. We had scooters rented so we could go anywhere we wanted. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet spot with gorgeous sunsets and wonderful views! Also staff that were all fantastic hosts!

This is my 4th time in Cozumel and first time at this resort. The resort is small which is nice if that’s what you are looking for. The beach is probably my favorite about this resort as most beaches here are rocky. The food options are limited and quality of the food is subpar for the price you pay. For example, a lunch for myself and two other cost around $80 for tacos, a burger, and enchiladas. It would’ve been fine if it tasted good but it wasn’t. The dive shop at the resort was nice and did multiple days of diving with them. But be ready to carry cash as they don’t take credit card. Overall, you will be better off staying at an all-inclusive as they tend to be more comfortable and take credit cards for most things. The rooms are not bad but definitely old and have that old smell. Seems to be typical of resorts in this area though. The hotel uses physical key’s rather than cards like almost every where else and if you lose a key you will be charged $20. Definitely checkout restaurants downtown. A taxi ride will cost you $10 (cash) one way.

The beach front is naturally beautiful and perfectly clean. Staff is attentive, food and drinks good. Had a wonderful time, absolutely want to come back. Worst part was leaving.

I wish that a shuttle was offered as it’s a couple of miles from town, about $10 each way. Beach seating is a little limited, as recliners are paired, but there’s an overflow section on the property that is open to the public until 5-6.? I loved how peaceful it was after 10. Staff is fantastic. The included Breakfast was better than anticipated, and there’s a couple of small scale restaurants across the street. Plan on going in town for a better selection. We had a very nice week.

About half a mile up the road on the main road to town is a horrible stench that you have to endure every time you take a taxi back and forth. It was quite unpleasant. The food at both of the resort restaurants was not very good and quite expensive. The view, staff, comfort and beach area was all VERY nice.

Very nice resort, right on the beach. Snorkeling right out front, beautiful water with lots of fish. Breakfast was good, great air conditioning in the room. Island felt safe at all times. Couple of good restaurants right across the street. Staff was friendly and nice. Would defiantly return next year, wouldn't even look at other resorts, this one was perfect for the wife and I.

Wonderful staff! Front desk, housekeeping, wait staff, and bartenders are all unfailingly cheerful and very good at their positions. The entire property was cleaned and maintained all day, every day. The views from the rooms look out over the water toward Playa del Carmen, and the sunsets from the beach bar were fantastic.

Playa Azul is a beautiful original Cozumel resort located on a perfect stretch of beach with great access to neighboring beach clubs. We love the turtle sanctuary and had the pleasure of seeing bats a couple of times on certain days which was a treat. The only complaint I have is that on our last night (and it was the day AFTER carnival), many of the guests were up all night partying and we couldn't sleep that night. Very disturbing if you have an early morning wake up to not get much sleep.

This charming hotel is beautifully situated right on the beach, overlooking the azure sea. The staff are super friendly and helpful, promptly taking care of every need. The (included) buffet breakfast is extensive, with a good selection of regional hot dishes, eggs and waffles cooked to order plus the usual cereals , fresh fruit and baked goods. We're very pleased we chose Playa Azul.

The employees are working double there isn’t enough staff for cleaning and not enough towels to the next day. No time to wash and dry so not enough towels also beach towels are worn out otherwise on a positive note there isn’t any sea weeds and the room was big in Junior suit and the staff were friendly. The restaurant was good reasonable price and good exchange rate considering the peso to dollar

Second time staying at Playa Azul and was great again. Staff is friendly and happy and willing to help with anything. Quiet and not crowded, private beach. Taxi’s are available in just a few minutes. Restaurant is delicious with many options if you want to just stay there and eat. Breakfast selection is wide. We will definitely return to Playa Azul once again on our next visit to Cozumel.

I probably shouldn't broadcast here but this is the best value Hotel on Cozumel ... full breakfast buffet with omelets to order included; fabulous ocean front property with it's own private beach; wonderful spanish ambience; and the staff it top notch. You'll love this place once you discover it for yourself and it's the only hotel we stay at when visiting Cozumel.

Beautiful property! The staff was stellar and you can walk into the ocean and snorkel from there. Close to downtown 10 min drive, and far enough away to escape the crowds. Close enough to Do some shopping, dinning in town. Will be back for sure!

We met people who have returned here over again so they must do something right. We booked because of the"great tub room" near the ocean which is different than pictures and the snorkeling which was ok but weather was a bit off. Most staff were friendly and genuine. But sevice was spotty by a couple of people. The gentlman making eggs in the morning was incredible in that he tried to keep sevice up to a standard on what looked like staff shortage? One morning before a dive trip i grabbed a muffin to go and was scolded and was told only allowed this time to take food out of restaurant? Never happened to me before. We enjoyed ourselves and food is good for a couple of days. Ate at great restaurants nearby for others. That being said Pool cushions were ripped Only 2 bottles of water provided in room per day 1 roll of toilet papper!? Penny pinching? Housekeeper missed our room cleaning one day, another day they were so late we were getting ready for dinner when they were cleaning the room. Guess i forgot the "first day" tip rule for them. Wish we would have picked a cheaper room at half the cost as another couple did if i knew this was going to be the case. Was really looking forward to this stay from the amazing reviews but left a little disapointed

It was such a gem, 11years ago, but has gone downhill. They allow pets which has consequences. They don’t keep beach areas tidy. Both beach and room towels are a hassle. Food is great I will add. I love this place, but felt disappointed.

The property Here is an accurate review as it seems that the 10/10’s are false or paid for. The property is old. The room musty. The plumbing was slow and backed up and needed to be fixed twice which put us down in the lobby bathroom. The Staff Front desk It started off wrong when we arrived at 250 for a 3 oclock check in and were told the room wasnt ready. 20 min he said. 30 min later it was 20 more min. Till it got to be 430 and then 15 m more till we got to our room at 445. It had been a long day of travel. Cleaning gal was the best part of the staff as she was extremely nice and attentive, however room service dishes sat in front of rooms and on tables the entire day and seemed to be apart of the decorations. The rest of the staff hates its guests. It seems a smile is an abstract concept especially the restaurant personal. The breakfast crew talks to each other as if they cant be bothered and looks offended if you ask for coffee. The dinner crew talks to each other while your food sits on a tray and gets cold and then brings you the extremely overpriced plate to you and then ignores you as they walk away without giving you utensils. Do not order a pizza as it is frozen and soggy. Don't order dessert as it is old and the ice cream looked as if it had been the scrapings from the edge of the container. In general the place is on its way to decline and has no pride. Like their staff. The ocean was convenient and the dive shop professional.
