“Le britannia hotel de Conventry : Si vous parlez bien Anglais, hotel excellent”

Quand nous avons vu les photos extérieures de l'hôtel nous avons été un peu effrayé, mais une fois à l'intérieur....quel délice, la chambre et le lit vraiment excellent, ce qui n'est pas toujours le cas ! Le petit déjeûner, un grand plaisir également, et la situation de l'hôtel, idéale à côté de la gare routière et à 10mns à pied de la gare. Seul bémol : la reception, si vous comprenez peu ou pas l'anglais, les trois receptionnistes diffèrents à qui nous avons eu affaire n'ont pas été compréhensifs, mais parmi le personnel autre, femmes de ménage et "placiers" pour le petit déjeuner ayant fait beaucoup d'effort... comme quoi, le "petit personnel" a été plus intelligent que celui placé plus haut. Encore bravo tout de même, superbe hôtel, nous y renviendrons...avec quelque entrainement nécessaire en Anglais...

“Excellent all round, will use again”

This hotel was faultless, don't allow yourself to be put off by the location, it's on a busy main road and looks as though it will be a little tatty from the outside. Once inside, you will be in a small yet welcoming reception area, with the bar and restaurant further down the adjoining corridor. The room was excellent, clean and well maintained, all laundry and toiletries ready - serviced every day with no problem. For food I only had breakfast, there was a choice between the Full English and Continental, but there was plenty to eat. In the evening, the bar was always staffed, very quiet with only the TV on, which might not suit all but I found it very relaxing.

“If you can stay somewhere else, do so”

The hotel was OK, the room was clean and comfortable, what bothered me was the attitude of the staff, it was like they couldn't care less that I was staying there and they were doing me a favor by doing their work. I've been in better hotels and I'll try to stay away from this one.

I have stayed at the Brittania for the past three years when I visit Coventry. It is the most convenient hotel for everything. Public buses are right across the street and coaches that take you all over the uk to sightseeing areas. It is close to shopping, restuarants, pubs and museums and Coventry Cathedral all within walking distance.

“Almost ideal Coventry hotel”

This is outwardly a rather dated concrete block of a hotel and inside it's not all that pretty either but it enjoys an enviable position adjacent to the cathedral and close to all amenities including a Sainsbury's which is only a few steps away. The bus station is just across the road and the only disadvantage for the public transport using traveller is the fact that it's quite a hike from the railway station - but then it is really from nearly everywhere central. The room was spacious, well appointed with a shower/bath in one room and a loo in a separate room and the bed (a double) was extremely comfortable. The shower incidentally was powerful and effective (and I've tried lots of hotel showers). The in-room TV was a bit old by today's standards but adequate. The lifts were a bit shabby on the inside but they worked! The hotel bar was spacious and comfortable and the prices were reasonable. I didn't try the restaurant on this occasion. There is a pleasant room to sit in off the foyer and you can use free wi-fi there. You can store your luggage on departure. Overall this hotel was both very reasonably priced and very comfortable and ideal for visiting the cathedral.

“Well located!!!”

Excellent location close to the cathedral. Walking distance to main shopping areas and great for Ice Hockey fans for the Skydome.

“Pleasantly Surprised”

I had all kind of reservations about this before I went because I always check reviews before I book a hotel, however as I have an internet business myself I know that people do not always give an accurate picture. I was pleasantly surprised with this very affordable hotel with an excellent location. Yes some of it is dated but so what at the price I booked this for I could not care if it was built in the last Ice Age. I would stay again no problem and at this time when finances are feeling the pinch this hotel is ideal.

Considering the price of the hotel it was good value for money,i would use it again.

“It's ok”

We were satisfied with value for money at this hotel. It seemed a bit understaffed, and there was some street noise. Location was great.

“Long weekend visit”

Hotel was reasonably priced and got what I paid for. The bed was a little uncomfortable as it leaned towards an angle giving the feeling that I was going to roll out of bed. Cured it by sticking a towel under the mattress to balance it out. I also requested a room away from the road because I am a light sleeper. The room I got was directly above the main road which ran underneath my bedroom. However, they swapped my room without any problems which was much appreciated. Staff were very friendly and polite. Housekeeping were excellent. Overall, positive experience. Would stay at hotel again.
