We have family in Braga and make it a point to stay at Melia when visiting. This is our first time back since COVID. It was just as we left it which is good and bad. It is starting to show its age and may be in need of a refresh. The mattresses are terribly hard. While the dinner and breakfast buffets are well priced, we remember the food tasting better.

Limited entertainment in room - the tv had no way of connecting to streaming apps and we couldn’t connect own entertainment devices in it. One of the robes in our room was dirty when we arrived. The cleaning lady came to our room and asked if we wanted cleaning, we said no and she just used the key card to enter the room anyway. The food selection at breakfast was very limited also.

We love the convenience of this property. Needs maintenance (bathtub spout fell off, shower door wouldn’t go on track air conditioning was not working properly) and deep cleaning. Otherwise, pool, buffet and experience is good.

I choose this place to relax in the hotel after working. They sell that they have a very fast internet connection. My work for two days were a disaster. I couldn’t even have a meeting without using my 4g phone connection. Their internet was a disgrace. I bought the full package for the meals. For a place like Braga where you can eat the best Portuguese food everywhere this hotel was very very weak, with a limit of 2 dishes and all very basic. The buffet was good in the first day, but in the dinner when things are finish they don’t bring more. I arrived once at 21h00 and basically they didn’t have more to replace the things. By the way. The 2nd day were the remains of the day before. as it wasn't to my liking at all I ended up not showing up for the last lunch I had already paid for. Even at the last breakfast, the orange juice that many people want to drink had an absolutely strange taste and when I asked to change it they brought a new one that was exactly the same. All very strange for a 5 star hotel... Finally. The Spa part of the hotel, since there weren't many people turned out to be the best part.

Lovely place. Very helpful friendly staff. Food was great with a good variety. View outside of the pool and garden was superb. Bedroom was nice and beds co.fortable and large. Room had good air conditioning.

Melia was beautiful, stunning hotel. Stayed their for my brothers wedding party. The rooms are gorgeous and spacious. Food was also amazing. Melia is our go to going forward when staying in Portugal.

Excellent hotel for a weekend stay. I especially enjoyed the indoor pool, good customer service and the breakfast delivery to the room (due to Covid restrictions). As restaurants were closed, we ordered room service - good value & quality compared to many other hotels. Small suggestions for improvement: couldn’t connect to wifi, TV image kept ‘freezing’ from time to time, bathrobes were a little worn out. But overall, we had a nice stay & hope to return soon!

Good enough but not a 5-star hotel
It was a pleasant stay but for sure it’s not a 5-star hotel. Clearly they tick the boxes to qualify for a 5-star hotel. It was disappointing that we were not welcomed with at least two bottles of water in the room. Also the bed was good but not 5-star. Usually proper 5-star hotels care about all details.

Solid 4 star class hotel
In my opinion it’s a four star (not 5) hotel by international standards, or compared to other options in Porto. The dining options and facilities should be thought of in that context. With that being said, the executive suites are a decent value and provide a comfortable stay for business trips. Plenty of space to avoid feeling trapped in your room, which is important because the location is a bit far away from the old town center. No major complaints, but I think they should add another dining option.

Good overall, attention to detail needed
Stayed here for a wedding, the hotel is lovely and service at the restaurant is top notch. Some small issues - booking a taxi via to hotel is a bit inefficient, and the body wash in my room was already used / had not been replaced. The pillows aren’t feather pillows which you’d expect from a 5* hotel. There was a lightbulb burned out above the bathroom sink. Otherwise everything was good.

Excellent 5 star hotel
The hotel is fantastic. Very modern and stylish. The room was huge, with a seating area. The bathroom is separated from the bedroom by a curtain which is unusual but wasn’t a problem, and there is a large bathtub and separate shower. We had the buffet dinner which was delicious and not overpriced. Highly recommended hotel.
