Good affordable motel in Cortez, COPosted 4-Jun-2012
Nice little motel on the south end of Town. No noise from the highway. Gas stations and restaurants are nearby.

FYI: The room/shower was going through menopause.Posted 23-Apr-2012
Pros: Friendly and amazing customer service. Family feel.
Cons: The room and shower couldn't make up their minds on a set temperature.
Location: Smaller size town, but close to Mesa Verde which offers amazing hikes as well as a rich cultural heritage. Go check out the ancient indian ruins!
This hotel is more like a motel. Each room is separated, and you park right in front of your room and enter through the door. Which was better than hauling bags up a bunch of stairs I suppose. I guess I was just disappointed because I thought it was slightly expensive for what you got. The hotel is family owned, and everyone was really nice and courteous. They offer a small mini golf course and pool, which might be fun for kids. The rooms are very clean, but smell and look like grandma's house. Both the room and shower were having a competition to see which one could regulate the temperature the worse. I was constantly jumping in and out of the water while showering because it would go from hot to cold nonstop. The room was extremely warm, but when we turned the cooler (at least it had one) on low, it would strive to meet arctic temperatures, so I fought with that all night as well. All in all, after only staying one night, it really wasn't too bad. There didn't seem to be a whole lot of better options in the area anyways. Another bummer was that there is no breakfast offered. If you stay here and have a hankering for mexican food, however, we thought that Tequila's Mexican Restaurant was awesome.

Friendly owners and staff, but some problemsPosted 18-Sep-2011
I would feel like I've misled those who might read this if I don't at least mention some challenges we found with this motel. Let me address those issues now. Unlike most motels, there is no shampoo put in the rooms as a general rule. Maybe they offer it upon request, but I find it unusual to have to do that. In the room we were in, the toilet seat would not stay up, which was no problem for my wife, but it was kind of an issue with me. The water is such that if a neighboring room is using the shower (or flushing the toilet) at the same time you are showering, the water temperature fluctuates between too hot and too cold. The tub was narrow, and the shower head was too low, and I'm only 5'9". The room we were in was very small, and there wasn't enough light above the bed to read by without eye strain. The doors don't lock automatically like most motel room doors when you leave, and we didn't find this out until we'd been out of our room a couple of times and it hadn't been locked. Luckily, no thieves had entered. And the ice machine was broken while we were there. The TVs aren't digital or in HD. The beds and pillows were very comfortable and the rate for the room was pretty cheap. The room was quite clean. The employees I talked to were extremely helpful and nice. The owner even went out of her way to apologize for a stain on a chair that had not been cleaned properly by her staff. I hadn't mentioned it to her, she came to me and apologized. I respect that a lot.

Just okayPosted 16-Sep-2011
Thought there would be more of a view. Room was clean and so was bathroom. Shower pressure was terrible, never a even temperature, either hot or cold. Motel is old and could use some remodeling, pool looks like it has been closed for several years. If all you're looking for is a clean room its okay. Had a clean bed to sleep in but was a ways from park and needs some updating.

Not Great; just OKPosted 29-Jun-2011
I picked the White Eagle Inn because of the reviews and that I like to give my money to independent owners rather than the chains. It was a inexpensive stay but I probably got what I paid for. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff were extremely nice, but the Inn has seen its better days, everything worked fine but it is a old motel that the owners are trying to repair. No breakfast, a TV with not the greatest picture and no shampoo in the bathroom. If you are just looking for a bed to sleep in, The White Eagle is OK, otherwise you will want to spend a little more money for your stay.

Friendliest and Cleanest Motel Stay EverPosted 26-Apr-2011
We enjoyed our stay at the White Eagle Inn in Cortez. Our hostess was so friendly and accommodating, and the room was remarkably clean and comfortable. The king size bed was also comfortable and we have no complaints whatsoever. I would recommend this place to anyone. Plus it was within convenient location to restaurants and downtown Cortez while still having that "out in the country" feel. We'd stay again!
