“Storm watching”
Nothing better than sitting in the warm by a log fire watching the wildest storm of November through the windows. It was the best weekend away ever.
“Wished we could have afforded to stay longer”
This hotel was amazing. It has the old charm of a hotel built in the 1800s, but has modern touches, clean and very welcoming. We were greated when we arrived and were offered our bags carried up to our rooms. We declined as they were only light, but the lady on reception showed us up to our room and explained where everything was. We had dinner in the main restaurant the first night and in the bar the second night. Bother were delicious. The bed was so comfy, the shower had very good pressure and the toileries smelt delicious. The breakfast, which was included, had a very good selection of cereals and pastries and then we were able to choose from a menu for a freshly cooked breakfast as well. The view from all of he places we ate was amazing, being right on the coast we watched the waves crash in and the kite surfers. It is within walking distance to the town, but we had a car so were able to drive around Cornwall, which was why we were there. There are also amazing coastal walks with stairs leading down from the hotel. There are cozy and welcoming seatng areas and a grand stair case to walk up and down to make you feel like royalty. It really was with sadness that we had to go back to he madness of London after such a relaxing time at the hotel.
“Perfect Honeymoon!!!! Will Go Again!”
On reading other visitor comments we were concerned with the description of the hotel maintenence. However, on arrival nothing can prepare you for the grandeur that you see from the moment you enter the grounds to the rooms. This hotel is OLD (built 100 years ago!) but any shabbiness is inkeeping with the hotel characteristics and we couldn't fault it. The staff are the biggest asset to this hotel on walking round the hotel and grounds you are ALWAYS greeted with a smile and verbal acknowledegment.
“Great Hotel, Fab Service”
The Headland was a great place to stay, the food was lovely and the staff fantastic. The hotel is a little shabby but clean and the service more than made up for the scuffed walls. Can't wait to go back!
“"Impeccable indulgence, we miss it already"”
On arrival we were pleasantly welcomed, and offered assistance with our luggage. The first impressions of the hotel and staff were excellent, very smart, well mannered and impeccably styled. Our room was delightlful, the decor, size, onsuite, ane the position were all lovely - not to mention the sight and sound of the sea from our windows. We arrived late afternoon, so just had time to book a reservation in the main dining room at 20:45. The meal was lovely, but in retrospect we probably would have gone for the 'Terrace restaurant' (that we discovered later) which was a less formal alternative. In the morning, the breakfast was a lovely experience. The main dining area was a welcoming atmosphere of luxury with a inviting array of beautifully prepared and presented culinary alternatives. What more could one want than to be served a handsome breakfast, in a luxurious setting with outstanding views out to sea - heaven on a plate! We only a short two day stay, but we wished it had been longer, and will hopefully, most definately, return.
“Very nice hotel for couples”
I can only say i really enjoyed out stay. The hotel i situated directly next to the beach and in a beautiful countryside. The view in the restaurant is spectacular and the service was very good. Only the shower (low water pressure, no constant water temperature) would be one negative point.
“Brilliant Hotel - and friendly staff”
This is a fantastic hotel with amazing views and a real sense of luxury. The staff seemed very friendly and I would certainly love to go back. The only thing that wasn't brilliant was the small indoor pool - no shampoo in the showers and needs upgrading a bit, but they do have a big renovation planned for the next couple of years which will incorporate this.
“Fantastic Hotel”
This was our 1st trip to Newquay and found the hotel very easily and it is perfectly placed for the main Fistral Beach. The views from the hotel are brilliant and you can settle down in a comfy sofa and watch the storms and waves coming in. The room was comfortable although I would upgrade to a sea view or a garden view next time as I looked out on a wall. The double bed was a bit small for 2 people and would have expected a larger one but it was very clean and warm. The hotel facilities including the pool, spa bath and sauna were much needed after long walks and the restaurant provided great food and service and the buffet breakfast was the best I have tasted for a long time - all of it locally sourced. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone who is going to Cornwall - be it families or couples for a weekend away.
“Well impressed with the hotel”
The hotel serves good breakfasts. The hotel is well located within easy access to the sea. You can see the waves smashing on the rocks from your table in the dining room.
“Great service, great view.”
Lovely hotel in a lovely location. The view from our room was spectacular and we had wonderful service for our entire stay. The included breakfast was great and included much more than we would expect. There was great parking and Newquay was a great spot for exploring the Cornwall area.
