“A Fantastic 4* Hotel in Copenhagen!!!”

This hotel was perfect for our 5 day break in Copenhagen over Easter 2009. The location is Fantastic & the hotel has recently been renovated so everything is new, clean and modern. I would highly recommend this hotel as it is very reasonably priced and the location is ideal for exploring the city. The only small gripe we had was that the air con didn't seem to do anything and it was very noisy so we just kept the window open instead as the weather was lovely while we there! Copenhagen is a lovely city with lots to see & do but it is extremely expenive - it was 7.5 Danish Krone to the British Pound when we were there and we found that lagers in most places were between 50 & 60 krone (that's up to 8 Great British Pounds) so you best get saving now!

“It filled our needs ...”

This hotel is great if you like to be in the heart of things where the action is. But it's also older despite the renovations and the plaza it's on was usually crowded and noisy. It was okay for a short stay but would rather be somewhere more comfortable for a stay of longer than a couple of days. The pedestrian street is just around the corner and Tivoli is just across the plaza. So it's convenient, but not especially nice - not bad though, we like nice places so we may be a bit spoiled.

“Not Impressed”

We had to wait 20 minutes for a table for Breakfast and they did not clear the table. You had to find your own cutlerly and cups and eat with dirty plates on the table. The breakfast staff were most unhelpful. The room was nice but the drains smelled and the water took ages to drain from the bath. We would not stay here again or recommend it.

“Disappointing”

The hotel room was nice and stylish. Staff on the front desk were helpful and friendly however the bells in the clock tower were very loud and strike right up until midnight. The hotel has a lot of history and it sounds like it was considered to be palatial in it' day however that day is over and it really feels very basic. Mini bar was empty, the parts of the breakfast that were mean to be hot were stone cold, the buffet area was so small it was always crowded, they didn't clean the room until I asked them to and even then they were too tight to replace the coffee! Copenhagen is lovely though!!

“A Word of Warning”

The Palace Hotel has the perfect location - less than five minutes from the Tivoli, the Stoget shopping district and the central train station. The 100+ year old building is a true landmark and the staff was friendly and helpful. It is currently in renovations(May '08)that will take it from its current 4 star rating to 5 stars. The new rooms are very attractive and comfortable. There is only 1 major draw back that would prevent me from staying there again. It is located right across the street from the Radhuset (Town Hall)and the Town Hall's Bell Tower - the bells ring every 15 minutes. They do suspend the ringing from Midnight to 8:00 am, but unless you are able to schedule your sleep for those 8 hours - I think you will find it a little off putting. Trust me on this - I live in Manhattan and I am use to a certain level of city noise.

“In need of a makeover”

great location, great hotel group, but sadly a very tired and out of date hotel. Shame to see such a great building fall into disrepair. Wait till it's refurbished before staying there.

“Wait until next year.”

Wait to book until stay is after January 2009. This hotel is trying to become a 5 star but isn't even a 3 star due to construction and undertrained staff. No A/C. Had to have windows open to my smelly alley view. Fan broke. Two calls to replace. Cable outages on TV. No hooks in bathroom. In-room instant Expresso pre-sweetened with sugar. Elevators and lobby a mess. Incorrect/incomplete info on nearby resturants by front desk. Maybe next year!

“Disappointing visit”

We have stayed in Meridien owned hotels in Europe before and were very satisfied. We were wrong to assume the Palace would be the same experience. Upon check-in we were offered a room upgrade. It turned out to be an extremely noisy uncomfortable room. You couldn't hear yourself think with all the activity outside in the square below. The first night there was a rock band, and the next night a soccer match with a jumbotron tv set up well before the game started. When we complained that we shouldn't be offered an 'upgrade' thereby paying more for less comfort, we were shown an extremely small smoke-smelly room which we didn't accept due to allergies. The upgrade room itself is poorly designed. The bathroom is split into two areas. One with a shower and no towels, the other with the toilet and towels. So if you forget your towel you have to trot across the room to get one. The soap dispenser fell off the wall at some point. We didn't get much sleep, and were resentful that we had to pay upgrade prices for such a poor experience. Upon checkout, when we suggested they might consider installing double-paned windows like many hotels do, we were told 'we have very good windows'. Well I can testify in all honesty they do not.
