Great Stay

Posted 4-Jul-2014
Pros: Breakfast, happy hour, and pool.
Cons: just renovating some rooms.
Location: It is roughly 30 minutes from downtown which was cool, found some hotspots to eat at. Yelp.com totally helped with finding great ratings for food !
Overall, the hotel was nice. The breakfast was pretty good - they would make your omelet the way you like it which was a plus. Room was graciously big and I love that the suite split off from bedroom to lounge area. The only thing that was a let down was the first room we checked into had a some paint peeling and the air conditioning metal cover appeared to be pulled apart. As soon as I notified them of this they switched my room and the next room was great. The staff is very efficient and polite. I would go to an embassy suites after this stay !

Nice... not glamorous but nice.

Posted 30-Jun-2014
Pros: Happy hour, openness, breakfast, spacious room.
Cons: The pool was freezing... but I can understand since it was half indoor, half outdoor.
Location: N/A
We needed a place to stop halfway between NC or IL. The kids wanted a place to swim as well. The pool was freezing but my daughter swam it anyway. GREAT happy hour and GREAT breakfast in the AM. We always try to stay at Embassy Suites.

Poor service.

Posted 24-Jun-2014
Pros: Breakfast was very good.
Cons: Better management.
Location: Nothing real close. Downtown Columbus is 15 miles away.
One elevator was down making waits long. When we arrived they only had one person at desk which ended up taking 35 minutes to check in. Wifi is super slow, newspapers cost $2. Nice hotel but poor customer service.

Couldn't have asked for better

Posted 14-Jun-2014
Pros: Manager's reception, pool, bedroom separated from living area of room
Location: Columbus Zoo was about 20 minutes away
This was the only hotel I could find that offered a separate bedroom in addition to the living area. Since we traveled with a 3 year old this was important so that my husband and I didn't have to go to sleep at 8! The room was large, the pull out sofa was more than adequate for our daughter. The only complaint I have about the room is that although we were there for 2 nights, no one ever made the bed or cleaned the room-I don't have a problem with the sheets not being changed, but it would have been nice to have the trash emptied. Our room was at the very end of the hall, so we never had any issues with noise from the atrium that other people complained about. The pool and hot tub were clean, the hot tub was slightly too hot but the management took care of that after people mentioned it. The pool did get a little crowded on Saturday afternoon, but that's to be expected. I liked that you had the option to use either the indoor portion or the outside area and still be right next to your family. The manager's reception was way beyond my expectations! I wish I could remember the bartender's name because she was awesome!! Very friendly, funny and fast! A Vegetable platter, chips, hummus with pita chips (Delicious!). Breakfast was very good, the line for omlettes was too long but there were plenty of other options. Coffee was fantastic, probably the best I've ever had at a hotel!! If all Embassy Suites are like this, I wouldn't stay anywhere else! It was perfect for our family.

Conveniently located

Posted 31-May-2014
Pros: Very nice complimentary breakfast buffet.
Cons: There was no safe in the room. This is a fairly standard thing in most other hotels I've stayed. Elevators were painfully slow.
Overall good experience. Staff was friendly, rooms were clean and spacious. We stayed in a room where our bedroom was on the side facing the highway and it was a bit noisy.. We could hear the highway traffic.

Not What You Would Expect From Embassy Suites

Posted 27-May-2014
Pros: Free breakfast buffet, free happy hour.
Cons: There are many things that need to be improved here but the lack of cleanliness and an unaccommodating, lackadaisical staff need addressed for sure.
Location: Columbus, OH (north side). Columbus Zoo and Zoombezi Bay.
My wife, two sons (ages 6 & 1) and myself arrived an hour after the check in time and our room was still not ready. Prior to our trip I noticed on the hotel website that crib's were available. Since we have a 1 yr old I thought having a crib was necessary so I called ahead and ordered a crib for the room. They said that wouldn't be a problem and that there would be one in the room upon our arrival. We did not get a crib but got a pack n play instead. This is not a problem for some but our 1 yr old has never liked sleeping in a pack n play. I called the front desk and asked for a crib and was told that they don't have cribs even though they advertise cribs on their website so, for three nights I had to sleep on the sleeper sofa with my son so that my wife and 1 yr old could have the king bed. On the first night my 6 yr old wanted to go swimming so he and I went to the indoor pool as it was too chilly to go to the outdoor pool. The indoor pool water was freezing cold even for my 6 yr old because the indoor and outdoor pool are connected and the pool water was disgusting. It had obviously not been cleaned in a while because there were "things" floating in the water and the dirt on the bottom of the pool was obvious. We didn't use the pool after that night. Also, the carpet in our room was so dirty that we couldn't let our 1 yr old crawl on the floor without his hands and feet turning black. This hotel has a noisy interior courtyard which is a bother until about 11pm.
