“Great Hotel to stay but keep the staff on their toes”

As I frequently stay at this particular Marriott during my visits to Columbia, SC (our head quarters are located in downtown, Columbia, SC). Upon arrival at the airport I called the hotel for their complimentary shuttle service and while it did not work out for me to get a pick up, they did pay for a taxi to bring me to hotel. Check in - The check in was friendly and fast but they put me in a room that was very small. To all travelers avoid any room in the Columbia Marriott that is an even thousand number on any floor as the rooms are very small. Food and Service - Service was very good but the food order was incorrect on two occasions (vegetables missing off one meal and hamburger prepared rare vs. the requested medium). Gym - Great facility, clean and maintained well.

“Disappointed that my reserved king bed was not available when I arrived”

I had reserved a nonsmoking king room through Expedia. When I arrived, the front desk clerk that checked me in did not inform me that there were no such rooms available and instead sent me to room with double beds. When I called down to complain, they said unfortunately all of the king size rooms were taken, even for Marriott Elite members such as myself. I am 6 ft. 5 in. tall, so this was a big let down, especially since I had driven all the way from Raleigh to get there.

“Suited our purpose for one night.”

Did not wish to take advantage of the pool because it did not look clean. Room was fine but nothing spectacular.

“Was better the last time I stayed there in 2007”

I think it was a nice hotel and the customer service was excellent, but there were a few things wrong. (Didn't have our dinner reservations, the remote control in the room was missing, the jacuzzi had a malfunction.) These were minor problems, but left me feeling as if we had to annoy the front desk one too many times. I stayed at the hotel 3 years ago and had no problems or questions for the front desk at all. I remembered it as the best hotel in the city, so was a little disappointed that they're no longer at the top of their game.

“Masters Golf”

We've found it very convenient to stay in Columbia rather than Augusta for the Masters. Prices are much lower, there are good restaurants and a better airport. The Marriot isn't as nice as some of the other Marriots I've stayed at, but still pretty good. Dark, quiet rooms; firm beds, good pillows, nice breakfast. And easy to get to the interstate. Hotel staff wasn't bad, just a little less than usual Marriot service.

“No sleep”

They put me on 2nd floor. The pool is on the 2nd floor. Screaming kids and BS ALL night. I was recovering from bronchitis and really needed that nights sleep. Terrible. I called downstairs. Nothing done. Never again.

“"Not impressed "”

Check is was at 4:00 - room was not ready until 6:30 , when we finally went to our room it was the last room at the end of a long hallway with a fan outside of it in the hallway , with a moldy smell in the hallway , room was very tiny for 4 people and the rug was a little wet-- the next morning went to print something and was told that the printer cartridge was out , I asked when could it be replaced a very rude front desk personnel answered when we get a minute. Would never go back to this hotel!!

“I can't believe this was a Marriott Hotel”

The staff was not very friendly. The valet parking cost was very expensive. I could not believe the room was a Deluxe Room. I had to put the coffee pot on the floor to plug it in and make coffee. The toilet ran all night. It was quite noisy. They did not bring my breakfast room service. I would never stay in this hotel again and I am not sure I will ever stay in a Marriott again.
