Hotel Run by Incompetent or Dishonest Management

Posted 27-Dec-2014
Pros: It was clean.
Cons: Management needs to be changed. Not a single person we encountered at the desk over a two-day period was properly trained or professional. Terrible!
Location: Convenient location to shopping, Texas A&M University, and the George Bush Presidential Library.
We found the facilities to be nice and clean. That's where the positives ended. Through Expedia we booked a 5-room block. All rooms were prepaid a month in advance. On arrival, we were given keys to a room already occupied by another member of our party. Staff member who checked us in admitted to being new and less than fully trained. Worse than that, we returned home to find that ALL FIVE FAMILIES IN OUR BLOCK WERE CHARGED AGAIN FOR OUR ROOMS. They took our credit cards "for incidentals" (which in this hotel would be nearly impossible to incur - no mini bar, etc.) and then charged us for the rooms that they knew had already been paid. When we discovered the issue by checking credit card / bank statements, the excuse again was that a person who was "poorly trained" "made a mistake". And Expedia doesn't escape criticism either. We paid $35 per room more through Expedia (that's 22% more per room) than we would have paid booking directly with the hotel. So we now have two claims for refunds in process - one from the hotel and one from Expedia. Never again will I stay at this hotel and never again will I use Expedia's "guaranteed lowest rates".

It is a good place to stay.

The carpeting is somewhat old but clean and the toilets are low but the rooms are large and the bathroom is separate from the bedroom. The TV was fine but somewhat channel restrictive - no gold channel. It is an excellent place for a one or two nigh stay. The breakfast was better than the La Quinta.

A&M/ Thanksgiving day.

Posted 29-Nov-2014
Due to a traffic accident we had to detour around we did not arrive till 1:30 am Thanksgiving morning. Staff was very friendly and room was better than I expected. The only negative was the water pressure in the shower. The pressure was so low I had to turn off the shower and put my head under the faucet to get the shampoo out of my hair. Other than that will definitely stay there again.

I liked it

We had never stayed at a Quality Suites before so I was a little apprehensive, but we were pleasantly surprised. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and suited our needs just fine. There were a couple of minor things about the room/bathroom - a light bulb was burned out in the bathroom (we stayed 2 nights, and the maid had cleaned up our room so I don't think I can say it had just burned out); the sink was either on full blast or not at all; and it would've been helpful to have lamps with USB ports. We were in town to visit our A&M student, and while this wasn't right next to the campus, it was a very short drive (within 10 minutes). I did not take advantage of the breakfast, but my husband did, and seemed to feel that it was fine - except for the coffee. He said it tasted like cardboard. The water in College Station is very soft and doesn't taste good so that may have been the reason why the coffee didn't taste good. We are staying here again in April so it will hopefully be just as good!

Nice hotel but overpriced.

Posted 21-Sep-2014
Pros: The room was large and comfortable.
Cons: Replace old TVs with flat screen TVs, do something about the smell in the elevator, and have friendlier front desk attendants.
Overall, it was a good hotel, the room was very nice and clean. However, for the price of the room, they should upgrade their TVs to flat screens. The hotel was clean but the elevator had a bad smell. Also, I thought their breakfast should have been a lot better considering the price of the room, at least use real eggs instead of powder eggs that were really dry. The person at the front desk was never there. Luckily for us, we had prepaid the room and didn't have to wait to check out.

Nothing fancy but a fine hotel. Front desk staff seemed unavailable in the evening. We couldn't get extra towels or bedding. Breakfast was good and always stocked.
