“reasonable”
If you want to find a place with a reasonable price and not too far from the metro, it is the motel.

“Unexpected service and room conditions”
We did not receive the service that we expected. The person in charge of the front desk is kind of rude. We booked for a room in a non-smoking area, but we got an smoking area room. However, for the price, it can be just ok.
“Washington DC lodging choice”
We were disappointed that Expedia would not allow cancelation or even review of other reviews before booking. I must take exception to many of the other reviews. We found the lodging clean, smoke free and fairly well maintained. It had been recently remodeled and there were some rough spots (obviously not up to a Hilton or Marriot standard) but we also paid far below the Washington market rate for lodging. We were a short 10-15 minute walk to and from the Metro transportation and we walked that every day in the morning and then again after dark and felt safe at all times. The cleanliness was good and the staff was friendly and helpful. There was construction going on across the street but was not bothersome at all because of the schedule we maintained. There were also many local and international restaurants along the walk to the Metro which gave a good variety for evening meals. Overall, we felt this was a very good value for Washington lodging and would use them again if and when we travel to Washington DC again.
“Worst Hotel I've Ever Stayed In!”
I am a seasoned traveler and usually stay at Holiday Inn Express or similar. I was traveling all week and Washington DC was one stop. We needed a hotel for two nights and thought we would save some money with Travelodge, considering it was close to the Metro. The room was relatively clean though needed a lot of repair work. New granite counter tops were put in but the furniture looked like it came from Good Will and there were paint drips on the toilet from a recent (?) bathroom ceiling paint job. I think there was mold on the light fixture. The drapes were in horrible condition that didn't fit the window, so the sun streamed in first thing in the morning. They were high up so I think our privacy was not compromised. I would have switched hotels for the second night but we were on a very tight schedule and decided to make the best of it. The two good things about the hotel is that the people working there were extremely friendly and professional. Also the Metro station is about a 20 minute walk from the hotel. I wish I had spent a little extra money so that I could feel comfortable sleeping!
“You get what you pay for”
I stayed here on a short vacation because it was dirt cheap and a mile walk to the Metro. While it wasn't horrible, there were a lot of little inconveniences, i.e. non-working lights and electrical outlets, very, very poor wifi and something loose on the roof that would bang in the middle of the night. It should be mentioned that at the time I'm writing this (September 2010), there is a big construction project being started directly across the street, facing the hotel. If you like to sleep in, this could be a problem. The neighborhood is decent, with fast food, Ethiopian and a fantastic seafood restaurant within half a mile.
“Never go back!! Would rather pay more!”
I got it through unpublished hotel since I had really good experience with it before. But I was totally disappointed this time. This room is really dirty. TV has very limited channels (I couldn't even get ABC or FOX or any basic channels). Wireless was claimed working but not for me! Fortunately I was only staying for one night.
“Nope!”
The first room I was assigned had a problem with the bathroom ceiling... Looked like water damage and mold from the second floor... Over night the ceiling fell into the bath tub and on to the bathroom floor... Fun... NOT! I waited for another room to become available... The rest of the stay was OK... Wi-Fi was a bit intermittent... would go from "good" to "very weak" while I used my PC. Motel seems to be in the middle of renovations... I guess I was in the wrong room at the wrong time.
“Too much money for the inconvenient features.”
Internet access, TV cable, phone communications were troublesome. Far away from work and commercial attractions. Too much money for the returns received.
“Okay for the money”
The Internet connection went down for two days. This is not a bad place to stay for the money. It is a 10-minute walk from the Metro and close to a number of services. The hotel itself is a bit beat up and the rooms are not in great condition, but it is livable for a short trip if you are on a tight budget.
