Stay here only to make an AM flight out of ShannonPosted 19-Nov-2013
Pros: The staff being so helpful.
Cons: The rooms should be redecorated and updated. There is also a weird TV/computer sysytem. The linens were also old and need replacement.
Location: We stayed to get an early start to Shannion Airport so that worked out fine. We did not see anything else in Shannon.
Hotel staff was excellent! They were knowledgeable and accomodating. The hotel is in need of serious updating and decorating. The rooms are a mismatch of furniture and the rooms need additional lighting. The rooms are big but lack warmth. They are also noisy and you can hear everyone in the hallway. The bathrooms were adequate. It served our purpose to stay before an early moorning flight.

Airport Hotel, otherwise don't stayPosted 17-Nov-2013
Hotel was good initially, but requested a quiet no smoking room, we were put facing the main road, and the room had clearly been a smoking room in the past. It really smelled of stale smoke. The only reason to stay at this hotel is for the convenience, it is really close to the airport.

Nice place to rest after a transatlantic flightPosted 14-Nov-2013
Cons: Heat could be handled by customer, without asking front desk to turn it on.
Location: Close to Shannon airport, town center, and a great jumping off place for touring western Ireland.
Good food, clean, warm, quite room, friendly staff.

Character and comfortPosted 26-Sep-2013
Pros: The decor and comfort. And the fact that they have an early morning continental breakfast for those heading out.
Cons: Directions or signage or something--hard to find.
Location: There is a mall and some restaurants nearby, but we ate there and it was very good!
This hotel is very close to Shannon airport but not your typical airport hotel--it has a ton of character and is very comfortable. One thing to do--make sure you get directions--it is not obvious from just driving around the airport!

Close to the airportPosted 2-Sep-2013
Pros: Clean and comfortable!
Cons: We were told the continental breakfast opened at 5:30 a.m., but when we arrived at 6:30 a.m. it was still not totally set up..little wait involved.
Our final stop in Ireland before heading home...very comfortable stay prior to early morning flight. Front desk had our taxi waiting for us right on the dot and let us know when they were there.

WINDOWS DON'T OPEN - ROOMS STIFLINGPosted 30-Aug-2013 on Hotels.com
INTERIOR OF HOTEL LUXURY MEDIEVAL BUT ROOMS ARE AVERAGE. BUT WINDOWS DO NOT OPEN NOR IS THERE A BATHROOM EXHAUST FAN. HOTEL SHOULD SUPPLY PORTABLE FANS, ALLOW WINDOWS TO OPEN. MCDONALDS AND GAS STATION FOOD STORE NEXT DOOR VERY CONVENIENT.

Good Hotel with Access for Self-Guided ToursPosted 30-Aug-2013
Pros: Conveniently located next to major motorways, clean, and friendly staff.
Cons: Room creaked all night, every night. Needed ear plugs to get restful sleep.
Location: Cliffs of Moher (40 min), City of Galway (25 min), Kilarney National Park (2 hrs)
The Oak Wood Arms is a little older, rooms creak, and bathrooms are a little outdated. But, it was VERY CLEAN and has GREAT ACCESS to highways for those going on their own with a rental car, which afforded us less driving and more convenience to utilize Shannon as a base of operations while exploring western and southern Ireland. Hotel has a bar (open to 11pm) that serves food and a restaurant; standard hotel breakfast every morning. Pharmacy, grocery store, and shopping mall are all about a 60 second drive away from the Hotel if you need to pick something up. Running paths (along the road) right across the street. Entire staff (from Housekeeping to Bartenders) were very polite and gave great recommendations on areas in cities to visit.

Bunratty ExperiencePosted 28-Aug-2013 on Hotels.com
Lovely hotel. We had 2 rooms. One on the first floor and the other on the second. Food was good. This was my families first stop on our Ireland trip. Would loved to had been closer to Bunratty so we could walk. The drive was short though.
