Saying Goodbye!

Pros: Free ongoing shuttle to Kings Island; affordable rates; bar/restaurant with good food at a cheap price; indoor and outdoor pool; friendly staff
Cons: get rid of the chalets; re-open the rest of the resort
Location: Kings Island
Kings Island Resort became a 2nd home for my son and I the last five or six years. It was sad learning the owners are planning on tearing it down in December. The bad reviews are from those that stayed in the older chalets. I think those should be torn down, but leave the rest. There is no comparable affordable option to stay when going to Kings Island. I will miss the friends I made there.

We found out that the hotel was closing its' doors on Nov 2, 2014. That explains why the room was not stocked. The lady explained that alot of employees left as soon as they found out, so they were short staff.

The room was very dirty, i usually dont complain about our rooms but their was dirty towels and wash clothes left in the bathroom. We like the location because it is very close to Kings Island and they also have a shuttle that runs all day to take you over their. But the rooms all need a very good cleaning!

Coffee pot in room had old coffee in it with large amounts of mold growing. I wonder what else had not been cleaned in a long time. Staff at desk was not concerned about my complaint. Mold in bathroom as well

The hotel seriously needs updated. Staff was wonderful our room was kinda musty and there was blood stains on the side of our mattress that we did not see till our last day. Honestly I would not stay here again. Unless there were major renovations.

Pros: Despite our room problems, the desk staff was very pleasant and easy to work with.
Cons: Rooms are much overdue for an overhaul. Very outdated. Also rooms need to be cleaned much better than what we experienced.
Location: We were spending the day at Kings Island and the location is perfect for this. Plenty of places nearby to eat too.
While the staff was very pleasant and helpful, especially after asking to switch rooms, it was the first impression of the room that was very disappointing. The room smelled of mildew and mustiness, a large centipede type bug was on one wall and cobwebs were on two others; showing that the room was not kept very clean. We also found a used towel in the bathroom and upon turning down the sheets found grass and food crumbs all over one of the beds; we can only assume that instead of changing the sheets prior to our arrival, they reused these and just remade the bed. The overall appearance of the room was severely outdated and the paint and wall paper were both peeling off the walls and the lamps and outlets by the beds did not work. The only good part was that when we requested another room, the staff was very accommodating and helpful, even allowing us to inspect the new room before switching. Although smaller then we had originally booked, it was clean and didn't have any bad smells.

hotel is closing Nov 1 so they are short staffed. No one is cleaning the place so as you leave they don't clean the room. rooms smell musty. Linens were dirty so we went and bought some for the week end

First off the whole reason we chose this hotel was because we've previously stayed here, the convenience of it's location (close to kings island amusement park) and it has a pool. When we checked in they informed us that the pool was not open because of sanitary issues from a previous party they had that day. Since we complained they said they'd have the pool ready by 9pm. Which they did. ( keep in mind that check in was at 4pm so that's 5 hours the pool was not available during our stay) Any place that I've ever stayed at including this place provides you with towels to dry off for after swimming. No towels were provided! My husband even walked to the front desk and asked for towels that night and the following morning, still no towels were ever provided which left us to air dry. We were told that housekeeping would be right there with fresh towels for our convenience but no one ever came. The pool bathrooms were dirty and the women's was locked forcing myself and my daughter to use the men's. Our beds didn't have fitted sheets, so as you would expect while your sleeping you couldn't keep the sheets on the mattress which in my opinion is disgusting. There were no extra blankets or pillows for the sofa bed so my children couldn't even sleep on or enjoy it. Also the door to our room didn't close properly, so all night it sounded like someone was breaking in as the wind blew it a good inch back and forth. Very unsatisfied costumer!!!

Very outdated hotel...but not bad if you're just wanting a place to crash near Kings Island.
