“Great Hotel in Christchurch”
We have family in Christchurch so have never stayed in a hotel there before, this was a 'surprise' visit so we were in hiding and knew that there had been a vast amount of damage to the City and hotels. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the hotel and the staff were fabulous. Would also like to recommend the restaurant - the food was superb.
“Stay at the Chateau”
If you are looking for a place to stay in Christchurch that is quiet, has great staff, good scenary, delicious food, but is still near to town and offer shuttles to get to town than this is a great place to stay. The only disadvantage I found was that the shuttle only came to town and left from town at specific hours and there was no service outside those hours.

Hotel is an interesting design, but some effects of the earthquakes. Staff is friendly and helpfull. Resturant is acceptable.

A very nice hotel. It is not like the modern chains you might see in the US. It does look like a private (non-chain) hotel you might find off the beaten path. It was clean and the staff was nice and very helpful. We particularly liked that 4 hours of free WiFi were provided every day which we found to be much more than the other (non-Auckland) New Zealand hotels we stayed in. The food was a bit above average but only that.
“Best affordable location to Christchurch City”
Best location to christchurch city at unbelievable rate. Have used on many occassions for business and will keep returning. The Hotel is right across the road from Hagley Park which links walkways and cycle paths to city, museum, and adjacent areas. Riccarton shopping centre is 5 mins drive from hotel and 30 minutes easy drive to the beautiful seaside town of Sumner.
“Perfect for one nighter and off to airport”
Perfect hotel for a one night stay for getting to the airport fast. Clean and tidy and useful self laundering facility for tourists. Hotel needs an uplift to attract us to stay any longer and restaurant looks somewhat of a utility breakfast area in the foyer - However food is good and fine for those who need dinner/bed/breakfast and away. Friendly staff
“Ok.”
The staff are the restaurant serving breakfast are unfriendly. There is no luggage service, you carry your own bags. Breakfast items are good, buffet is great. Room is okay. The provision of internet serverice free is so good. TV channels are limited. Location is a bit away from town and the shuttle service is limited.
“Not impressed”
Had thought it was of a higher standard than I found. When I entered room it was cold had to rack up the heating. Only two pillows on the bed would have liked to see more. House keeping knocked on my door to find out if I had left before I was ready. (I had NOT lit up to say the room was ready to service). If I had booked room for a couple would have been short of towels. Bedside light did not work on the right side of the bed.
