“Great Hotel, wonderful location!”
My wife and I spent 5 nights at The Whitehall and had a great stay. The staff were all very friendly and helpful during our time there. Our room was very comfortable although a little tired in places and the provision of a safe in the room was very useful. We had breakfast in the restaurant one morning and the food was good and reasonably priced (although we went to The Original Pancake House two blocks away the other days) but the Hotel is in a great area for other eateries. We could not have asked for a better location for a Hotel in Chicago and we would definately stay at The Whitehall again.
“Great Value, Food and Location”
Nice hotel with good value between Michigan Avenue and Rush Streets. Great location. We go there for special occasions, like anniversaries or valentines day. Good restaurants also. Quiet and intimate.
“Old style - formal, yet charming...”
The room size was a pleasant surprise - very roomy! The bathroom was the best part...although small, it was very nicely decorated. The room was very clean and quiet. Small elevators, but never a long wait. Great location and the hotel was very friendly and helpful.
“elegant boutique hotel”
the Whitehall was a very comfortable hotel with a great location. The staff were very friendly especially Francico at the front desk as well as the doormen. Rooms were tasteful and every morning they served the best complimentary coffee. The downstairs were furnished with antiques and a feeling of an old home persisted. Great place.
“Best Service and Great Location”
My daughter and I were spending a girls weekend in Chicago and booked a room at the Whitehall. Upon check-in we were upgraded to a room with 2 beds. We were given great advice on restaurants and how to get around town. The room was clean and comfortable with the old world charm you find in hotels in Europe. The staff could not have been more lovely. They were helpful, friendly and genuinely nice people. We can't wait to stay there again.
“perfect for couple”
The Whitehall is a cozy, older hotel in a perfect location. It is couple blocks to the L and about a block to the Hancock. The staff was very nice. We would have gone somewhere else for breakfast, though. It was very over-priced and each morning they were out of a good portion of their menu. The rooms are smaller, but perfect for a couple. The room size isn't fitting for families. The rooms themselves were very nice. Our KIng size bed was super comfortable, with down comforters. The bathrooms was very nice, as well. Also, we were given a corner room on a top floor without having to request it. So, we had a gorgeous view of downtown from two windows. This hotel was a "secret hotel" when i booked through expedia. But we were very satisfied and will definitely stay here again.
“Small lobby but a quaint surprise.”
Staff very friendly, and you feel like you are in a home rather than a large Hotel. the small lobby always had the elevator ready to use. A winding hallway took you to the adjacent restaurant and bar area. would recommend getting a king sized bed, as the double is a bit small (unless you are accustomed to such a thing). An older hotel, that shows its age, but remembering that in its day it was likely a big thing, made it a pleasurable stay.
“Great Service!!”
This hotel had really great service. The whole staff was genuinely nice and concerned about our comfort. They told us about all the cool things to do and where to go. Around the corner is Magnificent Mile-great for shopping. The hotel is surrounded by great restaurants as well. The bed was super comfortable. Nice bath robes.
“This is the fifth year I've stayed there on my annual trip to Chicago. I'll make it a 6th year.”
Everyone was so kind and thoughtful and made the trip perfect.
“Great!”
The room was very pleasant; bed very comfortable. The bathroom was small but clean and functional with a nice shower head. The location was awesome for Michigan Avenue shopping. The concierge was extremely helpful and delightful. The only downside was that the view from our room was of a building wall across the alley/street. No in-room coffee.
