“Nice hotel”
Old building and high level location, kindly people and nice reception. Room is so clean and comfortable.
“Refreshingly quiet”
Where to begin?! There are so many things to like about The Homestead! Perhaps best of all is the quiet atmosphere: no nerve-shredding Muzak, no squawking TV in the breakfast room, forcing you to hear the latest on Angelina Jolie's leg. Staying at The Homestead is like taking a trip in a time machine, and I mean that in the best possible way. Our dinner at the in-house restaurant, The Quince, also was a delightful experience. The lakeshore is just a few blocks away, perfect for a quick "constitutional." Lots of interesting shops and restaurants are close by, as well. I would not hesitate to stay there again; in fact, I'm looking forward to it.

I'm a Chicagoan, But now live in Ky. I go home at least once a year to visit, and always book hotes in Chicago, this time I decided to look for something more economical and found the Homestead. Wasn't sure what to expect, it was a nice older hotel with wonderful staff, they were friendly and helpful! The room was clean, and nice. Comparable to hotels in Chicago, including the Drake the Fairfield the Congress and others I've stayed in. Good price, I did enjoy my stay and will probably stay there again! And it's only mins from Chicago which I really liked!
“little gem in Evanston”
Quaint inn in the heart of Evanston, which makes Chicago readily available thru private car or mass transit. Loved the free parking garage. Extremely friendly staff.
“Like a parisian hotel”
It is a very nice 1920 hotel, verycute and clean.The restaurant is fantastic.It feels like to be in some place in Paris.
“Happy traveler”
The staff was extremely friendly. It was the first time in a very long time that I had an actual metal key, and in my hurry o get to a reunion dinner I went off and left it on the bed. Then the front desk was not open after 11 pm (which I had not been warned). But the on call person arrived quickly and was very helpful. The best part of the stay was the so called "continental breakfast"which included breads, cheeses, yogurt, fresh fruit, cereal, great coffe and even hard boiled eggs. All this served with nice white fabric napkins and table cloths. They kept the buffet constantly supplied and area cleaned up. This was a decent business room with a desk, good TV and bathroom, but the individual air conditioners were noisey. The location and free parking (around the corner) were good.
“Quiet and comfortable”
Quiet and nicely located. Easy walk to the L and thus access to a good part of Chicago. Close to Northwestern University.
“Our stay”
This is a nice hotel but very old. Our first room, Rm 612 needed a new bed, so when I complained about it they gave us a new room, Rm 212 which had a new and comfortable bed. Rooms have window air conditioners which were not in service at the time we were there. The windows open up nicely but the screens are somewhat mis-aligned and broken. In need of maintenance. Staff was great and friendly always except the person managing the Continental Breakfast. Vary bored looking. Free parking is nice but you have to park one block away in a parking garage which was well kept and monitored.
