“Comfortable hotel with a helful staff”

Only stayed one night but aside from a little age on the furnishings, it was as good a room as I've ever had anywhere and the staff was very helpful.

Our visit to Chicago was wonderful, in large part because the Chicago Super 8 was so clean and competently managed. Every member of the staff was friendly and helpful. We are keen on using public transportation in big cities, and the manager directed us to the best bus and train stops for our various day-trips. We also saved a lot over downtown hotels, and got free parking!

“Great Hotel, Location, and Price!”

The have a fenced in covered parking garage which made us feel really safe leaving our car there the whole weekend and taking the L train everywhere. The continental breakfast is the best!!

“Great Find”

This hotel was a great find. It was very comfortable, the room was huge, and it even had a mini fridge, microwave, and table! The staff was friendly and helpful. The bed was comfortable, even after a long stay. What I really liked was the proximity to the train into Chicago (while not being close enough for noise), so we didn't have to drive anywhere and the neighborhood felt safe. There was also an internal AC/heater so you can control your room temperature. If you don't mind a longer drive and a train ride into Chicago, this location is great in comparison to staying in the suburbs. The trains go directly to downtown and along the lake, so there is minimal transferring necessary unless you're going more towards the center of Chicago. Also, the train and buses both use the CTA transit passes (suburbs use different train), which is a cheap unlimited option. These can be found at Walgreens and other places, 1 day $5.75, 3 day $14, 7 day $27, etc., all on a 24 hour basis. The only downside is actually getting to the hotel, as there is no major highway in that direction. We had to drive on the major roads of the suburbs and city areas in that direction. Also, you may want to bring a powerstrip if you plan on plugging more than one thing in as there are not many power outlets in the rooms. (I've found it's like this at many hotels.)

“Affordable Hotel Convenient to Northwestern University”

This hotel offers free parking onsite, which was a very nice suprise! Our room was equipped with a mini fridge and a microwave, which we also did not expect. The room was large and comfortable. The decor seemed outdated, but that is generally expected when staying at a hotel that leans more toward the economy end of the spectrum. The room and the bathroom were clean and in good repair. The water pressure from the shower was lacking, and the shower head was oddly positioned very low on the wall. When we arrived at the hotel on Friday night, the night attendant was away from the desk and we did feel we waited a long time for him to come back. Once he was back at his post, he was friendly and helpful. We went up to our room and relaxed for awhile, then attempted to hook up our laptop to the wireless internet. We had some trouble doing this, and when we went back down to the desk to get help, he was gone again and there was another group of travelers appearing visibly frustrating that the desk was unattended. We then gave up on the internet and went to bed. We attended a football game at Ryan Field on campus at Northwestern University, and we thought the hotel location was convenient to the field.

“Great Location”

The breakfast area is tiny - 2 small tables with seating for 6 and there is no business center. However the location is excellent -- near Lake Michigan in a nice quiet neighborhood with bus service directly to the Loop.

“Good Value”

If you're looking for an inexpensive place to stay near downtown Chicago and Wrigley Field, this is a good option. The parking lot is gated and the L is an easy 5 minute walk away through what seems to be a safe, residential area. Our room had a mini fridge, microwave, ironing board with iron and a hair drier. It's about 30 min by train to the mag mile.
