“Excellent value and location”
This hotel is the ultimate location, right behind the Hancock Building. We were greeted with an upgrade to our room and it was beautiful. The only complaint we had was the chilliness of the bedroom, as there was no thermostat to control it; only the livingroom had a thermostat. Keeping in mind that we booked a room with two double beds and ended up in a suite, we are not unhappy at all. Breakfast was fast and delicious both mornings.
“Great location, clean, and affordable.”
I was very surprised to find such an affordable room in such a great location near the Hancock building. The room was so large that I almost felt unusual staying in it by myself. It is obvious that the building used to be apartments, but it is very clean and well-maintained. I've paid more than twice as much to stay at other hotels that were half as nice as this one. One thing to note is that the parking garage next door is not run by the hotel. This means you can't just add the parking fee to your room bill; you will have to pay the garage attendant in cash when you leave. Luckily, there is an ATM in the hotel lobby.
“Will stay again”
This is a great hotel. I've been traveling to Chicago regularly on business for the past 15 years and don't know how we missed staying here previously. The location is excellent. The rooms were huge (we were upgraded into very large suites as a VIP perk). Everyone of the restaurants downstairs was good - the wine bar in the basement was our favorite spot and even when the upstairs bar was packed - it was quiet and a good place to escape. We had a group of several people traveling for business and sharing rooms - having the suites made this a much more comfortable experience, our rooms seemed like apartments with full kitchens. They would be great if you were traveling with a family as well. We'll be back for our next trip for sure.
“Hidden Gem!”
Wonderful gem in a great location. The rooms are large and the bed comfortable.
“A very nice hotel for a bargain price”
We've probably stayed in downtown Chicago hotels 50 times over the years and this Seneca stay was the best such experience we've ever had. Even tho we took the cheapest Expedia option (queen bed in a single room) they gave us a king bed in a suite. It was actually an apartment with a full kitchen, including a side-by-side frig with ice thru the door, a large living room, an equally large bedroom and a two-person bath with Jacuzzi. We thought it was great! And everyone on the staff seemed very nice, too--none of that big city attitude. Even the guy in the cafe serving our (free) breakfast was nice even tho he was really running to take care of everyone. There are two other restaurants in the building, too, and we had room service from one of them one nite. The young woman who took our order was quite helpful and cheerful and the food was not only good, there was none of the usual crazy high price for a room service meal. They just charged their regular menu price without even any delivery charge (so we tipped real good). We'll definately be going back again to the Seneca!
“Sorry to see it go”

“Excellent Value”
Our stay was delightful. The location, delicious hot breakfast and comfortable beds were excellent value for the reasonable cost.
“Great for a romantic weekend”
Great location, very nice hotel, good value for a downtown hotel
“Wonderful Stay!”
Wonderful stay at The Seneca! Just off the Magnificent Mile, GREAT staff, and they upgraded us for FREE to a suite. Too bad they are turning it into all apartments. :0(
