“First time stay at a hostel - didn't let me down at all!”
Pay what you get - basic rooms but all clean. Just what you need if plan to be out exploring all day. Lockers of good size to lock your possessions away. Nice communal areas. Breakfast basic but has what you need.
“Great Place to stay!”
This Hostel is really AMAZING! It is literally 1 and 1/2 blocks from Grant Park in downtown Chicago. It is very close to downtown attractions and the "L" train. It is also very secure. After hours you have to swipe your room key five times to get to your room: 1) swipe to get in the building 2) swipe to get into the elevator 3) swipe to select your floor in the elevator 4) swipe to get into your complex of rooms 5) swipe to get into your room You really can't feel more safe anywhere else! The room is nice too. We had a two man room. There is a bunk bed. The bottom bed was a double and the top bed was a twin. There are sheets/blankets/towels provided and the room is air conditioned/heated. You also have access to a refrigerator/stove/microwave that you share with the other four rooms. You also share two sinks/a shower and a toilet with the other four rooms which was always very clean. In the morning there is a free continental breakfast with juice, coffee, bagels, muffins, croissants, fruit and cereal. You do have to wash your dishes when you are done. Please note that there is no alcohol allowed on the premises. The hostel staff was VERY helpful and knowledgeable about the area and offered discounts to many area attractions and restaurants. There also always seemed to be something going on to allow you to meet the other guests. I was very pleased and would stay there any time I'm in the Chicago area.
“Why Stay Anywhere Else”
I feel like I've made a great find. This place was amazing.
“Just as good or better than a 2-Star hotel”
Just like a really nice dorm room. Cleaner and had a better breakfast than a 1.5-star hotel. Very friendly staff and guests. Looked just like the pictures. Perfect for the traveler on a small budget. Tip: bring your own lock.
“Great choice for Chicago visitors”
This is my first Hostel experience, and so fortunately I chose here! Simply fantastic! However, it's a little bit too cold in the room, and I can hear rail sound at night because it's near the loop.
“Excited to Check Out Other Hostels!”
I had such a great experience at this hostel that I've started to look into joining Hosteling International and staying at other hostels. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, the amenities were very basic, but exactly what I wanted. It's a very DIY experience, from making your own bed to washing your own breakfast plates. If you enjoy independence while traveling, this is a great place for you! They're currently remodeling, which made for a bit of noise in the lobby, but it looks like it's going to be absolutely beautiful when it's finished. The website does not do justice to this hostel - I can't wait to go back!
“Outstanding hostel!”
This hostel was far more luxurious than the hotel I stayed at last year in Chicago in the same neighborhood. The linens, pillows and towels were spotless and high quality. The complimentary continental breakfast was fresh and satisfying. Staff were helpful in giving us a map of the downtown area. Despite staying at this hostel during Lollapalooza weekend when one would expect rowdy, noisy guests, the atmosphere was quiet and peaceful. I will certainly return to this property if I travel to Chicago again.
“cheap, clean, great location”
This is an incredible location, on the south end of the loop very close to everything. The room was clean. I thought that the Hostel was very secure. We had to pass through four levels of security before getting into our rooms. It would have been nice if there had been more bathrooms and showers. The extra bathroom and shower down the hall on the sixth floor were always locked and I presume out of order. I either had to go down to the fifth floor or wait. I would come back.
“Cross between a hostel and a hotel”
This hostel was pretty awesome. However, it is not well known, a lot of cab drivers never heard of it even after giving the address. Highly secure though, you must swipe hotel room key to get in the doors to the elevator, and to press the floor you want once in elevator and the community room where your actual room is and of course your room. So I felt very safe and secure. Nice cafe located right in the hostel too, there's also a DQ and Panera Bread you can see. You do get towels and covers. The room was a little warm and the free breakfast was pretty disappointing. But if you love cereal, orange juice, toast and apples, you'll be fine.
“the cheapiest place in Chicago Downtown”
close to everything -in heart of cChicago -you will love it; clean, convinient with marvelous stuff. Nobody can beat this offer - breakfast incluided private room
