Hilton Hotel Let Down

Posted 24-Nov-2014
Pros: It was clean, at least I think it was. Hard to tell in the extremely dark room. The housekeeping staff was nice in passing.
Cons: Hotel room lighting. Description...it's rather misleading. Bathtub size is a joke. Shouldn't be an extra daily fee to use the fitness center.
Location: Only thing kind of nearby was the breakfast restaurant Yolk. Still a walk, but closer than anything else. Don't stay here if you want shopping proxy.
I've stayed in several Hiltons & I don't stay in hotels with less than a 4 star rating. However this was the most I've ever paid for a hotel stay & the worst hotel experience I've had. We chose the hotel based on the fitness center & location. I should've researched the actual location. "Magnificent Mile"? Not even close. Nearly 2 miles from everything. The fitness center was nice, but you had to pay a fee to use it, on top of the expensive hotel rate. Our room was so tiny, my husband & I could barely move around without bumping into each other (I'm a small/petite person). The room was so dark, you could barely see what you were doing. I've never been in a hotel room with such poor lighting. Opening the window shades did little to rectify it. The bathtub would've barely fit two toddlers. I called & asked if all the bathtubs were that size - answer was yes, but I find that hard to believe. I accidentally left my 5 lbs weights in the room when we checked out. I called the next day & asked if someone could retrieve them for me, but they wouldn't even go to the room and look for them. Said they'd call me if anyone turned them in. We chose to use the valet service for our car at an astronomical fee per night. But it took 10-20 minutes to get our car when we needed it each time. We even called ahead on our way out, and still had to wait 15 mins after being told it would be brought around in 5 mins. Stood outside waiting in 20 degree weather, instead of our dark hotel room.

Hilton Chicago

Posted 21-Nov-2014
Booked this hotel Becuase it's a Hilton and thought that would be a safe choice. It was very poor, extremely dated hotel, for the price and it felt cheap and tacky. The wifi didn't work in my room and I had to move rooms.

Very nice and accommodating staff!!!

Posted 14-Nov-2014
Pros: Staff.
Cons: Nothing!!!
Location: It was a bit of a trip (walking) to where the action was...I wish it would have been a little more North...Then it would have been ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!
We didn't have towels in our room, and they sent somebody up right away!!! There was a mess up with our parking charges, and they took care of it with a smile!!! Coffee good.

Not a 4 star

Posted 11-Nov-2014
We went here for a long family weekend. The room was not vacuumed and towels had stains. Trying to get towels for 4 people instead of 2 took 3 calls in 4 days but no issue when we had a problem with our 13 dollar per day wi fi service. Also amenities given on phone were not even at hotel, so more $ had to be paid.

never again

Posted 10-Nov-2014
Pros: nothing
Cons: better staff, upgrade in surroundings, very outdated hotel and very expensive
first of all charging for parking self and valet totally outrageous.....52 dollars for self parking!!!!!! total rip off. for the cost of the rooms, the parking should be cheaper. also the hotel should have informed us that there was a 15k/5k race across the street at grant park, instead of being woken up at 4 am from a women voice over a loud speaker giving instructions to the races.....was totally ridiculous....and when complained at the front desk, the guy basically just laughed at me and said yeah i know was totally surprized when i came into work this morning......well didn't help since i was woken up at 4am and this went on with the loud speaker till 7am. won't stay there again.

Double beds.....Are you serious!

Posted 9-Nov-2014
Pros: The Indoor heated pool
Cons: BIGGER BEDS!!!!! Who sleeps in double beds anymore unless you are a kid. Onsite coin operated guest laundry Free water per person/day
Location: Field Museum and Soldier stadium
We spent 5 horrible nights sleep on 2 x double beds - 2 adults and 2 kids (7 & 10). The room wasnt cheap - we opted for one with 2 bathrooms (as it was also renovated), one of which had a big huge old mould stain above the bath, they had tried to wallpaper over it. I dislike how they nickel and dime you on everything, plus didn't even provide us with a free bottle of water. I should no better but I keep trying Hilton only to be let down. The one good thing was the lovely guy at the fitness centre (which we never used) he greeted our boys the 2 times we used the indoor pool. We were locked out of our room for approx 1 hr going up and down to reception trying to get keys that worked - eventually after 3 times they discovered the battery in our door lock was flat. They did comp us breakfast and 2 nites of room upgrade fees, but overall I can never justify the price. Sorry Hilton, but we wont be back.
