“Simply a nice, clean hotel”
I enjoyed my stay at the Amalfi. I didn't spend a lot of time there, but the staff was very attentive. Having a continental breakfast on the same floor as my room was a treat. I will say a few times it seemed like the doormen had pre-programmed responses as they didn't always relate to anything I said to them, but they were still quite friendly. Also, the TV signal was okay, but picture was not as clear as I would have liked. I can't say anything really "wowed" me about this hotel, but it was nice, clean, and definitely a place I'd consider staying at again.
“First good impressions are lasting”
The location is prime, well within reach of shopping and transportation. The breakfast was nothing to write hoem about, but it was convenient to have all available in the same floor and the fact that you could bring it to the room was a plus. The cocktails at night was in my opinion the highlight of this hotel. Is was a great way start your evening if you were planning to go out. A great experience at this hotel.
“Great Location”
Great location in the heart of the river north section of Chicago. Step outside and a few blocks walk from mag. mile shopping, great dining, theater district and many more. The morning breakfast outside your hotel door is a great pick me up for beginning your day and before heading out for the night stop for by the cocktail reception to enjoy complimentary drinks and appetizers. The walls were paper thin and could hear the guest on the other side just talking. The staff was always courteous and they even allow you to bring fido here. Would def stay here again on next trip to Chicago.
“Great find in the heart of Chicago!”
We had a lovely time at Hotel Amalfi. Rooms are clean and bed is super confi. Breakfast is fine (could be healthier but OK for being complimentary). The 5:30 pm happy hours with free drinks and food is great. Don't miss this! The staff is extremely friendly, helpful and diverse (which we appreciated). Walking distance from everything. Great value!
“Amalfi Hotel excellent choice”
Everything about the hotel was excellent, the staff, the room, the breakfast buffet and their desire to please. When I arrived early in the morning due to my early flight they let me check in early and gave me my room within five minutes. When it was time to leave I needed an extra hour and they accommodated that as well. The room was attractively furnished and the bed very comfortable. An extra nice touch was the robe and slippers as well as the fine quality soaps and shampoo. The location was conveniently located for all the Michugan Avenue shopping.
“Definitely would stay here again!”
We were in Chicago for a weekend and stayed at the Amalfi. Jose at the front desk was extremely courteous and helped us with dinner reservations at the last minute (great latin/indian restaurant called The Vermilion). The hotel is very close to everything on Michigan Ave and a quick cab ride anywhere else. They had a fun cocktail hour in the evening on the 6th floor. (We met a lovely couple from Dublin also staying there.) There was also a nice continental breakfast on each floor in the am. The rooms were very clean and well appointed although a little small maybe. But, hey, it's downtown Chicago so most rooms are a little small. The rooms were very, very quiet (we were on the 4th floor). There was a muffled sound that was a baby crying and I kept thinking thank goodness it wasn't next to us, but then realized the next day it actually was in the room next door! Could hardly make it out and that's unusual in any hotel. We didn't use valet/car parking but they did have it. We had a great rate on our stay in comparison to other hotels at the same caliper. All in all, a very nice stay. We will for sure be back as we have family in the area! Thanks to Amalfi for a wonderful, stress-free weekend!
“A great stay”
We enjoyed the time at Amalfi. The room was not large, but not many are in Chicago. It was well appointed and extremely convenient to the area. The exercise room was well equipped. The continental breakfast on each floor and the free cocktail evening reception with appetizers were great. Tips: Use public transportation instead of cabs from O'Hare, take the Architecture Tour on the river and go to Hugo Frogs. Take a 1.5 hour carriage ride through Gold Coast, Old Town and German town.
“decent for overall price”
Nice location but room was fairly small and next to the elevator and breakfast area. very loud during morning hours!!!
“Funky Boutique Hotel in the Heart of Chicago”
This was my second stay at the Amalfi and was equally as happy as the first stay! What I love about this hotel is the location, the attentiveness of the staff, the amazing FREE cocktail hour from 5:30 -7pm and the FREE continental breakfast located on each floor, so you can grab a coffee without going but ten steps outside your hotel room! The rooms are comfortable and clean. They have Aveda products in the bathrooms and the moment I entered the hotel they asked if I wanted a bottled water for refreshment from my travels. There are quite a few restaurants like Harry Careys and the Public Bar and Grill within steps of the hotel. This was my gem of a find and will stay there anytime I go to Chicago!
“Great location, cozy rooms - very cozy”
The staff was friendly and courteous, allowing us to check in 8 hours early., The room, clean, stylish with very comfortable beds. Room was small, had to get up from the desk chair to get down the side of the bed. Mini bar stocked regularly and of modest cost. Close to all the sights, just down the street from the Chicago Theater. The breakfast spread is wonderful, just the best stuff. View was blah but we were on the second floor, I'm sure top floors has a nice view. Overall good stay.
