We stayed in one of the larger rooms that had a beautiful view out to the entrance road and out to the hills. Love the old world charm of the room and the property. It used to be a small village originally. Bed was comfortable. Shower was a claw foot tub with curtain. Only minor issue is we could hear guests outside in the courtyard when they were coming and going from the property when our window was open. This is only noticeable because of how quiet it is out in Tuscany. Easy access out to the main outdoor eating area and restaurant/bar from our room (116). Food was great. The two pools were nice. Recommend you bring some bug spray if you come during the summer to early fall months. There were a lot of flies and mosquitos at the lower pool during our stay. The property is about a 20-30 min drive from Poggibonsi if you come in via train and cost us 45 euros. Others in our group came in via rental car or hired van.

The place was wonderful! Great staff, clean and very comfortable rooms. The food is excellent and the overall ambiance was fantastic. Very good location for visiting other small towns!

Owner/Manager is lovely welcoming woman who is very helpful and patient. Food is outstanding. Rooms are updated and spacious. We had a wonderful stay and the prices were reasonable for such high quality. Only issue is the rocky dirt entrance road. It needs grading. It is very rough.

Wonderful hotel, wonderful location
Set on an idyllic setting in the chianti hills this place is just so special. Lovely staff, fantastic food, Somewhere to rest and relax but also a great base to use for sightseeing in Siena/Florence/San Gimeagno. Our second visit here and we are already planning our third!

Great Property for Tuscan Getaway
Situated at the end of a lane on a hilltop, Tenuta do Ricava is a great property with a rich history within half an hour from Florence. The staff is friendly and accomodating. Dinner was set outside and was very good. An extensive breakfast buffet in the morning was included making our stay enjoyable and a great value. I would highly recommended Tenuta do Ricava.

This gem in the Chianti region of Tuscany was a delightful find. This small resort is beautiful, comfortable, and convenient to Castellina and other historic towns in the area. The people were friendly and helpful, the restaurant was excellent, the service was great. Our room was spacious, lovely, and comfortable on a corner with views from two sides. It was quiet and beautiful. After dinner you can read by the fire sipping port. It is seasonal, open April into October. We loved our stay.

I don't think I've given 5 out of 5 for anything in my life, but here it is! My partner and I had the best night's stay, and wish we were there longer. Perfectly located, but obviously need a car to get there. Will definitely come back in a few years!

Perfect Tuscan Getaway
This is a beautiful, secluded, well managed hotel. The restaurant and staff were amazing. The location is perfect if you love wine, food and Tuscany. The hotel has great character. It consists of several historic buildings with architecture that fits perfectly with the Tuscan surroundings. Rooms are large, modern and clean. The food is outstanding! Great Tuscan cuisine made by a wonderful chef. The service is outstanding, too. The owner/manager is very friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend this hotel as a perfect place to spend your holiday.

Ideal in so many ways
Tenuta di Ricavo was a perfect retreat for us. It's ideal in so many ways for the following reasons, among others: - it's in the center of things. Less than 1 hour from Florence and San Gimignano; just over an hour from Siena; within 10 minutes of Castellina of Chianti; within 30 minutes of Radda. These weren't the only places visited, but they're on the top of the list if you're in Chianti and should help you get a sense of how quickly you can access points north/south/east/west - it's unbelievably charming, tucked away from all sounds but that of nature - the staff are so kind and generous with their time and expertise, offering many suggestions and solutions to consider for your day trips. All are so warm and friendly. I can't say enough about them - they have a restaurant for all meals of the day which offers delicious options, and it's not exclusive to hotel guests - the rooms are extremely clean and cozy - the views surrounding and within make you want to linger - plenty of free parking - two pools with great space for sunbathing or just reading under an umbrella - their wine selection was wonderful. I'm not an oenophile but I witnessed many guests lingering on the patios enjoying wines purchased from the hotel or brought back from various vineyard tours - they have wonderful common space rooms for guests to read, gather by a fire, enjoy drinks and meals together, etc.

Charming Chianti Hotel in a Tiny Vilalge
Very friendly hotel staff at this adorable hotel occupying most of Ricavo, a tiny ancient village just outside of Castellina in Chianti, driving distance to all of the best wineries. The beds were a little bit uncomfortable but did not negatively impact our fabulous stay this hotel.

beautiful hamlet tucked into the woods of Tuscany. if you are looking for gorgeous, quiet seclusion, this is on point. very good restaurant, helpful staff, nice gym. RENT A CAR BEFORE ARRIVING! it's difficult to get here without a car, and you will absolutely need one to get around. Vespa is also an awesome option!

Great hotel located in beautiful Tuscan countryside. The hotel provides everything you could possibly need and the staff are friendly and helpful. There's a great restaurant providing breakfast, lunch and dinner. The hotel is well located for visiting the local hill towns, such as Siena. The hotel is pretty remote so a car is recommended.

Great little spot in the heart of Chianti
This was a great little hotel and restaurant. We are glad we stayed. It is nicely north of Siena so that you do not get all of the tourist traffic from there. But you get a nice little hide-away in the woods. The surrounding towns are all fun and driving around is a blast. The only thing would be if they could spend a little money on the bedding (not the sheets - very nice, but the mattress and pillows). But the rest was great.

A jem in Chianti
Great quiet place, do not worry when arriving down a step gravel 1 lane road, once there, it is an ideal location. You will need to use your car since you are approx. 5 km north of Castellina in Chianti. Restaurent was good but a little expensive. Room was large and clean, we were in the main building facing the back side of the resort. Very quiet, wke-up in the morning by singing birds, this resort is in the middle of a lush forest. Only negative, with its great location, it is sad that management was not able to put restaurent in location with view. Breakfast good but beware, only 'american' coffe is included, espresso, capuccino and latte will be charged to your room (staff did not mention this upon ordering). 2 pools with nice forest view. Overall great choice, strongly recommend it.

Lovely Chianti Location
We had a lovely time staying 2 nights at this well looked after hotel. The Castellina vineyard is a 2 minutes drive away, where we were explained the type of grape and olives with a bit of history to it. Of course, we bought some of it home ! A recommendation to those who want a little peace and a nice drive, rather than the urban streets of florence. Only improvement I would suggest would be the bathroom, but many may prefer the contemporary style.
