“A good Marriott”
As Marriotts go it wasn't bad except it was High School play off weekend with many, many kids and their adult handlers noisily filling the elevators and the lobby. The restaurant bar was peaceful but one evening our drinks cost one price and the next day the drinks were more expensive. Hmmm. The room attendants were pushed to their limit and glad that we only required more towels and not a full room service for our spacious room with a good king mattress. Good thing the sliding door could open the four inches because the room was very warm with no way other than the open window to cool it. Wish the window opened more. I won't jump--I promise. The location near the arena and across the street from the Charleston, WV Town Center was ideal. The $9 a day parking fee, not so great. Be sure to drive to Milton to see Blenko glass. It's world famous and a bargain at the site just 30 minutes away.
“Heart of Small City Charm”
Stay was very comfortable, little trouble with the room key but the staff was wonderful and accomodating. Like staying at Home.
“Starting to show age”
This hotel is extremely convenient to all downtown locations, especially the mall and the convention center; however, it is really starting to show its age. The grout is beginning to crumble in the shower, and the carpet in the hallways is becoming threadbare. On the bright side, the staff is extremely helpful, and the rooms are comfortable. Unfortunately, we arrived on a high school basketball playoff weekend, and the breakfast brunch was so crowded with teenagers, we could hardly get in. The wait was 30 minutes just to get in the restaurant, and then the wait in the omlet line was another 30 minutes. There is an Embassy Suites one block away that I will try next time i'm in Charleston, WV. It is newer, and appears less crowded with more accessable parking.
“great location!”
we stayed here for my nephew's HS graduation which was at the civic center, just across the street. it was perfect. the mall is also right across the street, and restaurants and church all a short walk away. the only problem was that some children's group was there at the same time, and they did come in and play around on the fitness equipment while we were trying to get a workout in. even with that, i definitely would stay here again.
“Nice Downtown Hotel”
Other than the fact that elevators were not working properly, it was a lovely stay. Great bed. Very clean room. Very good service in restaurant. Get the Asian shrimp skewers.
“Need help with fire drills”
This was a very nice hotel with a few exceptions. When we arrived we were told that the reservation that we had secured with Expedia did not include breakfast. We emailed Expedia and the matter was resolved. Then, in the middle of the night the fire alarm went off. We evacuated our room as instructed but when we, and the other guests got to the lobby, there was not instruction as to what we should do. We all milled around and finally went to the desk where they were acting like it was business as usual, and were told that it was a mistake.
“Comfortable & Affordable”
This hotel is a great value. The rooms are comfortable, clean and the overall price is very affordable. I think this is one of the best hotel choices in the Charleston area.
“A nice place to stay”
Nice hotel, very friendly service, very helpful staff
“Visit to W. Va”
Form what I remember 2 years ago, there have been many changes and more inconsistencies…While service, food, fitness center were superior to what I remembered, the cleanliness and upkeep of the hotel was at issue….Bathroom and plumbing were not as good, air system was old and noisy..Room needs a lot of refresh
“Good Hotel but a little pricey.”
