“Good room, good service, horrible gym.”

I actually would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Urbana area for the night. It wasn't perfect, but it was cozy and clean - suprisingly clean actually for what I was bracing myself for. The only thing that my husband and I really didn't appreciate was the quality of the "gym." The "gym" consisted of 3 machines in a 5x10 space. The treadmill was so old, it turned off on me twice while I was running. The bike worked, but was from the '80s and while the weight machine was newer (2002 maybe) it was broken and didn't even have a sign on it to indicate that it was broken. This could be a hazard for those about to use the weights and all of a sudden the handle flys across the room. Great stay for sleep and breakfast, but if you are looking for a workout, this is definitely not a good choice.

“Marathon weekend stay”

Except for the carpeting, the room was clean. The light by the door was broken. If you just need a clean bed to sleep for the night, this is OK. Not somewhere I would spend my vacation.

“At the Right Price, It's OK”

But supply & demand set the price at what we've paid for better hotels in the area (Wisconsin was in town for football game), so it was over-priced. Room was actually nicer than I expected but it was uncomfortably warm, even with heat turned off, and the bathroom fan did not work. Also, it seemed breakfast on a Sunday should go past 9am. Service at desk was friendly so no complaints about that. Location is decent, very easy to get to campus or downtown Urbana or Champaign.

“My stay in Urbana at Sleep Inn”

Well, the front desk and the staff that clean the rooms were great. The hallway and stairway carpets were filthy. The pool was cloudy, and it is below ground level and the windows start at parking lot level on one side, and it is very disturbing that most of the windows were open WITHOUT screens. I closed those and locked them. the lobby was filled with cobwebs on the vault ceiling, and the plants caked with dust. It seems the owners are too cheap to do these extra things that make all the difference...including upgrading the dollar store breakfast for the money. I would not stay there again.

“Second time pool was not available to use and no compensation-unacceptable!”

We asked two managers at the front desk to give us a discount or refund for our cost, considering we did not have the advertised swimming pool available. This was the second time we have gone to this Sleep Inn motel and had the pool closed for maintenance, without warning. Good location, clean enough rooms, simple and adequate continental breakfast, but NO use of the pool. Had the manager(s) offered to refund or discount our cost of stay or pay for us to stay at a nearby motel which had a working pool, we might not want to besmirch the name of the hotel chain and Expedia. Two different managers refused to give us any compensation, or hardly any sympathy, stating that they couldn't change anything since we made our reservation through Expedia. Well, that is a convenient policy for getting out of being responsible. We came to my hometown to clean out my late mother's house, which is being sold and to be torn down. We thought being able to swim after our long day's work would be helpful for our spirits. Our daughter who has Down syndrome can tolerate going along on a rough trip when she is able to swim. The least the manager could have done would have been direct us to an indoor pool, like a YMCA, and paid our guest rate. Service and consideration of guests' comfort just aren't what they once were. I hope my message motivates you to make some changes, at least, for someone else.

“Never stay at one of these again!!!”

We got there at 5:30PM. Check in was anytime after 3:00PM. When we got to the room it was dirty, coffee cups everywhere, towells on floor and bed was unmade and had been slept in. They did give us another room. We were tired and hot and anxious to spend time in the pool, one of the reason we chose this hotel from the list was for the pool. We went to the pool and the area was very dirty, water was milky looking and there was hair floating all over the top. No pool for us!! I wasn't about to get into that! My husband and I were very upset at the condition this place was in. We feel we wasted our money there. We do not reccomend this hotel to anyone and I wouldn't mind a refund either!!
