“Perfect 'home-base' for a golf vacation!”
The room was clean, we had fresh (although somewhat small) towels, and the included continental breakfast (cereal, instant oatmeal, fresh fruit, bagels, toast, muffins, juice, milk, coffee, and tea) was good. It did appear that they were doing maintenance during their off-season...working on the outdoor pool, repainting stairwells, etc. To me, the maintenance is a good sign of customer service - not letting the place go. We were out golfing most of the time during the day - Rutland Country Club is about 20 minutes away, Green Mountain Golf Course is about 10 minutes away, and the Killington Golf Course is in the same complex - we could see the sixth hole from our room. All three courses are beautiful, by the way, and highly recommended. Overall, I'd guess the negative reviews of this hotel come from folks who are accustomed to 4 and 5 star hotels. For those who are generally happy with a clean room, clean bed, and a few extras (such as a coffee maker and mini-fridge in the room), it is a great place to stay. Note: there was not an iron and ironing board in the room, although I'm sure we could have called the front desk to have one brought to us. Also, there was no WiFi in our room, but it was available in the breakfast area and other common seating areas.
“Pleasant hotel, let down by temperature control.”
Pleasant hotel, good value but a few problems with temperature control of the room. Cookie time at 4pm an added bonus.
“Mid-week ski trip”
Easy check-in. Limited interaction with hotel staff. Morning breakfast provided with standard items including cereals, packaged oatmeal, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, potatos, pancakes, bagels, bread, fruit, juices, coffee, tea, hot chocolate. Evening food service was limited but plenty of surrounding restaurants to enjoy. Good value with Expedia discount off regular room rate. Would have liked to see more use of the lobby and first floor fireplaces. Pool and both jacuzzi and outdoor hot tub were in clean working order. One car in the parking lot was broken into overnight with the driver's window smashed - a reminder not to leave valubles in any vehicle, otherwise sufficient parking available. Rooms facing the main road may be too noisy for some if there were more cars traveling past the hotel. Basically clean and comfortable. Traveler expecting higher end services and decor might rate this hotel a 3.
“A great deal, with some reservations”
We were very impressed with the Inn of the Six Mountain's Web site and, of course, the rate we were quoted. We felt it was a deal we couldn't pass up. The hotel is very nice. The staff is very friendly. The room left a little to be desired - damaged lampshade, closet door and some trim needed painting, the shower was difficult to use. Also, there was no air conditioning, but we were supplied with a fan. Our room was over the courtyard, where people gathered to smoke and chat rather loudly at 7:30 a.m. and 10 p.m. The smoke drifted up to our room through the open windows. We did use the indoor whirlpool and the indoor and outdoor swimming pools. We enjoyed them very much, but they've all seen better days. We enjoyed the continental breakfast. We had dinner in the restaurant, and the meal was excellent. However, the waiter failed to give us the dessert that came with the meal, and we ended up paying extra. Also, the clerk at the front desk couldn't produce for me upon our checking out, which was very annoying.
“Inn of NYE”
We headed up to Killington for a holiday getaway over New Years. We only had a few days to spare, but Inn of the Six Mountains helped us make the most of it. Easy to find and warm, charming atmosphere. We were very cozy for our 3 day stay. The fireplace and friendly staff helped. Centrally located and able to walk to local restaurant/bars. If I had to point of a few flaws, I would start with the number of children! Yes, it was the holidays but they ruled the pool and both (yes, 2) hot tubs. Also, the common spaces could use a little sprucing up, but it's the nature of a ski lodge that it takes a beating ever day (skis are not clean of graceful to travel with).
“perfectly fine”
I stayed at this hotel two nights, to attend a wedding at another hotel. Thought that it was a little bit pricey for what it was, but it was clean and well maintained. A little old if you are looking to stay for a while (no central air) , but very adequate for my purposes, which was just to change and to sleep. I would certainly stay there again.
“Good place on the hill”
The hotel was clean and the staff very friendly. It's very close to the Killington and the local restaurants (like Claude's Choice). The bartender was informative, but cranky. How about a "buy back"?
“Nice place to visit but........”
Back room, telephone poles and cables just out the window, kitchen staff break and smoking area just below. Moguls "bar" across the street from room window.
“GOOD BREAKFAST haha”
yay for hot breakfasts that don't suck! Our room was very clean, I really had no complaints. You're there to ski, not sit in your room. Oh, the room had a DVD player in it which was really nice. Don't expect anything amazing, but it was clean and I will definitely go back if I can get another deal. Maybe 1-2 minutes tops to snowshed/ramshead lift area.
“Good hotel for the money”
We found the Inn of the Six Mountains to be conveniently located, the service polite and helpful, and the room clean. The continental breakfast was very poor. The first day, there was a small amount of cereal, runny scrambled eggs, 1 bagel, and a few slices of white bread. We arrived in the middle of the breakfast hours, and it was obvious that they did not replenish food as it was eaten. The second day was worse. There were no utensils, three pieces of fruit, and the large bread basket had crumbs and only 1 piece of bread. This was at the height of their designated breakfast hours. If you stay, plan on having breakfast elsewhere.
