“Classic old hotel with character”
I enjoyed a nice comfortable stay in WRJ at the Coolidge. It's certainly not a modern chain hotel but I'll take this type of stay over a nondiscript room. Staff at the front desk was very friendly. Room was comfortable and clean. Although I thought only tel. dial up internet was offered, WiFi is available. Nice old hotel.
“"Historically Interesting"”
The Hotel Coolidge is a wonderfully atmospheric hotel from the by-gone era of train travel. Heavy wooden banisters and lace curtains, along with sitting areas at the end of the hallways all give a feeling of a by-gone era not found in today's modern hotels. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful with all and many inquiries, especially Hannah who manned the front desk in the evenings. The hotel is just steps down from the Briggs Opera House which houses the productions of Norhtern Stage which was my reason for going to White River. Hotel, theatre and train station are all within paces of each other. The only drawback is that, other than the theatre company, if one wants to see any other sights a car is needed (which I did not have). There is a lively tavern next door, CJs, a couple coffee shops/delis and a diner, a few shops, a very nice restaurant called Elixir and a terrific floral shop called Valley Flower Company which had an incredible selection of flowers for me to choose from to send to my friend in the production at the theatre.
“Nice historic hotel”
Hotel is clean, staff was friendly, room was comfortable just a little noisy, there are train tracks near. would stay again :)
“Quite charming and adequate”
The Coolidge hotel is a very charming hotel, if a bit "tired". The price of the room (actually "suite" )we had was fair. There was no AC but just fans that --for our brief stay-- was adequate.
“Old-fashioned Vermont Charm”
This is an old-fashioned hotel in an historic building with lots of charm in the downtown area of White River Junction. A traditional lobby with a fireplace, large hallways and rooms with arm chairs, a desk, etc. I thought it was delightful!
“Needs some work”
The Hotel has charm, but is in need of modification. The hot water pipes bang very loudly at 3am and then again at 7am that woke us up. I think that the cost is fairly expensive for what it is, the rooms were not that clean. I think it is overpriced for what it is.
“Would never recommend this hotel”
I would never recommend this hotel it is in very poor repair. basicaly it is a dump.
