“Are You Looking for More than the usual Hotel Stay?”

The ALTA Cebu Village Garden Resort is not the usual hotel. If you are looking for a place to stay that is more than a room in a building with a nice lobby and a place to eat, try the ALTA. Every aspect of the property has well thought out details and is visually very appealing. The term hotel does not fit. This place, to me, is a mix of a bed and breakfast and boutique hotel. The hotel is surrounded by a well thought out garden, the owners live on the grounds. The place has such a relaxing atmosphere and is so pleasant, it is a pleasure to spend time chatting with the owner, other guests as if this were a family gathering. The pool area, like the rest of the place, is very attractive. Instead of being in a vertical building of concrete, this hotel is woven into a meandering garden with paths giving a feeling of spaciousness. You can enjoy being outside in the canopy of greenery with the smells of earth and garden and softened sunlight. I enjoyed the staff and the tour they gave, the owners and other guests. Everyone was in a good mood in this setting... The food and drink is quite nice. The location is near to but just far enough from the CEB Airport so that you can see the planes pass by but not be bothered by the noise.

“I enjoyed the barbeque night @ ALTA CEBU!!!”

This resort is very good . The friendliness of staff and owner was genuine. I like that they make the effort to remember all the guests names. The gardens by the pool are enchanting, especially at nighttime. I was very satisfied with every aspect of this wonderful gem of a resort. Staff are friendly, helpful and polite, the rooms are comfortable, they have a good restaurant and the meals are well prepared. They often announce night time events, such as barbeque, live music, party games and other planned activies so it is easy to meet and make friends with other guests. I was quite impressed how the owner takes time to introduce himself and to chat with guests. He told me that the resort is only a few years old. Even though it was slow season, there were many guests, probably because he keeps the price affordable. It is obvious to us that this unique boutique resort was developed and run by owners who genuinely care about providing ambiance and friendly atmosphere to make for a relaxing vacation to remember.

“Romantic Getaway”

I stayed here the night before leaving Cebu, my girlfriend had never stayed in such a nice hotel like this before. It was a very romantic and quiet area, unfortunately I only booked 1 night however I will return. I believe that most of the staff was new employees because they weren't sure of a lot of things. But they found your answers and bent over backwards to make your stay enjoyable. I will return and stay for 3 days or more on my next trip, this hotel would be perfect for a honeymoon.

“A great place close enough to the city for fun and far enough away to relax afterwards!”

Upon arriving I had some minor misunderstanding that were quickly resolved by the owner and staff. I spent a week at the Waterfront, Lahug prior to spending a week at Alta. If you compare the prices you probably expect a lot less from Alta than Waterfront and you would be wrong as I was. While I agree this hotel is not for everyone, I do strongly suggest it if you want a private resort without the hustle and bustle of a big city hotel. A very inexpensive taxi ride will put you in any city of your choice. They also have a p.c. room with internet access, in case you don't have your laptop with you. There Wi-Fi was as good as any other in the region and worked in my room as well as the common areas. The rooms do have some murals on the wall for the tropical feel and they might not be considered "elegant", but they go with the theme and if you aren't uptight you will come to appreciate them. They are also very comfortable and I loved the bed. I had a problem with the cable, but was given a dvd player and a large selection of movies to keep me occupied. The restaraunt is great and the chefs will do whatever they can to make something for you that isn't on the menu. The owner is also on site and very willing to listen to any input you might offer, as well as socialize. Also had plenty of entertainment if I wanted to stay in. This is a resort, not a corporate hotel for busybodies. Relax and enjoy the Philippines they way it was intended.

“Exceeded Expectations”

I had the pleasure of staying at Alta Cebu Resort for a total of four nights. The hotel is in great condition and has many amenities. The staff and management were extremely friendly and professional and went above and beyond. The room was in good condition and was very clean. As far as location is concerned, the hotel is located near all the main beaches. It's also very easy to get a free shuttle service. The restaurant located on site was enjoyable as well. The menu had a wide variety of menu options and the food was excellent. I would highly recommend Alta Cebu to anyone who is looking for a relaxing vacation in a guest friendly environment.

“Wish I had a longer vacation leave! Can't wait to go back.”

I have been to Cebu many times and tried most of the mid priced resorts before staying at ALTA recently. As to being remote, I find that ALTA is actually closer than almost all the other resorts to Cebu City. The airport is about 5 miles away. Planes are pretty high when they pass overhead (I just mention this since I’ve read a review from other guests on this). But it did not bother me in the slightest. I actually like seeing airplanes; it reminds me I am on vacation. The room I got was very nice (compared to other hotels I’ve stayed at before which cost a lot more)… ALTA may not be a luxury resort by western standard, but it has a lot to offer… Top notch food! And the prices are just in line with similar resorts. Almost everything else is free here, such as billiards, wall climb, internet, both in the room and in their net café, ping pong, games, mini zoo, etc. The staff is always smiling… friendly, professional and efficient people. Alta Cebu has exceptionally well maintained gardens, rooms, pools etc.... ALTA CEBU is suited for romantics and people who want to relax. I can describe it as a serene native paradise, hosting modern amenities, a pleasing blend of tradition. ALTA Cebu is a distinctively different boutique resort" If I were to rate the hotel on value basis, it should be #1.

“Nice Room and Great Staff”

I was very pleased with everything at the hotel. I enjoyed the sparkling clear swimming pool, eating at the hotel restaurant, the very nice and attentive staff. I travel Asia extensively and was pleased with the ombiance and design of the hotel and gardens. It is out of the hussel and bussel of the city and it took about a 10 minute taxi ride to get to the malls. For me this was a plus since I like a peaceful and quiet surroundings. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

“My privet Paradise”

I’ve been there on two different occasions and I will definitely go back again. Had a few little issues with the rooms but Larry the owner more than compensated me for it with an upgraded room. Me and my girlfriend had a great time there. Memories we’ll never forget. The only bad thing, I hated to leave.

As an American traveller who has visited 28 countries and hundreds of resorts over the years, I have to say that Alta Resort is by far one of the very best I have ever had the pleasure of staying at. The resort itself is a beautiful oasis to relax and socialize in. The modern facilities were outstanding in everyway. The greeting I experienced at the spacious and comfortable lobby was very friendly and organized. It was so nice to receive a sincere welcoming with a warm smile and refreshing beverage. The guest room I stayed at was extremely clean, spacious, and comfortable. The giant king size bed with the surrounding curtains made me feel as if I was sleeping in a palace. I also really appreciated the incredible view from my room of the evening skyline of Cebu City. The view was spectaculor. One of my favorite parts of the resort was the swimming pool area. The pool water had a perfect temperature and the hours of operation were extensive so night swimming was truly a joy. The lounge chairs were large, fully reclining, and comfortable. I think that the most special quality of Alta Resort was the comfortable, relaxing, and fun ambiance that was evident throughout the resort. It was so easy to just relax and have quiet solitude but it was also easy to meet guests at the resort because of the unique layout of the Monkey Bar, swimming pool, and lounge area. I was also very impressed with the management and ownership of this resort. Very friendly!

“My friends and I will come back”

Alta resort was a lot better than the place I stayed the first time I visit the Philippines The owner Larry was just like a buddy and the staff was very great!! I would come back I tell everyone at work about the place . I made a lot of new friends there guest and staff. Jerry
