We would have liked the pictures to show the true different rooms. I guess we thought we were getting the Presidential Suite per the pictures. I thought we were staying in the villa but were in a different building. Thought there was a hot tub but that is in the PS. When we arrived they were very flustered by having booked 4 rooms thru Expedia. They were friendly but very overwhelmed. They gave us the key to someone else’s room so we went it to a room with other peoples belongings (for one room). To turn on the ac you needed to go back to the front desk for them to turn on and then back again to get a remote. Once settled we all wanted pizza. So we ordered pizza from take out and we brought back to the hotel to be told we needed to sit outside. We were not allowed to eat in the hotel because they didn’t serve pizza. We sat on the terrace and were eating and then told NO you can’t eat here you need to go to the pool and eat on the small tables. And then when we went to move we were told we could stay there just that night don’t do it again. The following night I was walking thru the hotel to watch the same staff member moving tables and chairs to accommodate two other parties with pizza. And he told me it was because Superman delivered the pizza. So we ordered pizza again and this time was allowed to eat the pizza in the bar area. Not happy at all! All 7 of us were very offended.

Bad location, incompetent reception staff
The hotel was clean and well maintained. It was not in a good location at all for visiting the centre or beach. If you have no car, expect to pay a minimum of €30 return for a trip to the centre. There are no restaurants nearby so that is the only option. The buses are unreliable and infrequent. The reception staff were not forthcoming with any information and often inaccurate. The shuttle bus to the beach and city centre operated at peculiar times and was only able to take 8 passengers in the van. If you booked the 0930 bus out, you could only take the 1630 bus back- only two trips there and back! There was no evening shuttle to the centre,the last bus going in at 1830. We booked the hotel taxi (€10 one way) in the evening for three consecutive trips into the centre. My daughter was not well enough to go into the centre on the first night so we cancelled that day. The receptionist then cancelled the remaining trips without telling us and no explanation was given. Very poor! We booked the hotel taxi to take us to the airport on our departure and it didn’t turn up. No apology given by the receptionist or the manager or explanation. We nearly missed our flight. The restaurant menu was lacking variety and imagination and overpriced. The restaurant staff were lovely though. It would be better to get a hotel more centrally located and nearer to the bus station. The taxis are a rip off ,too.

Very bad!! Didn't even stay one night of our four night stay because the hotel was so terrible. The beds are horribly uncomfortable, my boyfriend laid down for a 10 minute nap after we checked in and he woke up with neck and back pain, we asked if we could switch rooms but were told all the mattresses throughout the hotel are the same, we were given one additional pillow which obviously did not help. At reception, the staff argued with us about not giving us our money back. The hotel is not as advertised online. The pool is very small, the free shuttle service offered must be reserved a full day in advance, and it's very, very noisy, you can hear everything that goes on in the halls and upstairs. We were told the manager and owner cannot be contacted and of course the receptionist didn't have the authority to reimburse us but would'nt call the manager or owner for approval and would'nt give us the phone number, which seems rather shady... Reception told us we had to come back the following morning at 8am to speak with the manager, who might not even be there. Very odd. We were either going to book another hotel or get flights out of the city and end our holiday short. This hotel was SO bad that we legitimately considered just leaving the country. We ended up staying at the Four Points by Sheraton which was a much nicer experience. I would highly suggest anyone considering staying at Hotel Villa Del Bosco reconsiders and looks at the Four Points by Sheraton instead.

Bad shower, very small, door didn’t shut, wet bathroom afterparty showering. Onlusten a roof window, no window with a view, no window to open. Whole hotel needed a renovation very badly. Only staf in the restaurant & driver of the shuttle were friemelt. Wouldn’t recommand to stay there.

The Staff were very helpful. The Shuttle bus was a great asset and the Driver went out of his way to be helpful. The meals were very good quality. The pool area and patio were delightful and if it had been a little warmer it would have been lovely. The only drawbacks were 1) No kettle in room as stated and 2) the hotel website should make it clear that the private beach does not open until later in the Year.

We have stayed at this Hotel on 6 occasions and each time the experience is remarkable. The staff are welcoming and attentive. We will return again. The Bar/Lounge is extremely comfortable and enjoyable and an experience like no other. The rooms are exceptionable and the view of Mount Etna and the Sea add to the magic of the Hotel. Catania is something else...and a great "jumping off place" to Taormina and Siracusa for example. In addition,Catania has it's own treasures to explore.

Out of city hotel but with character, great staff
We stayed at the Hotel Del Bosco for a week and could not fault the staff. They were all unfailingly polite, friendly and helpful. In particular the ladies at breakfast time deserve a special mention and we even gave them a small tip the last day which we have never done before. Wish it could have been more. We stayed in the Gold Presidential Suite and on first impressions it was very luxurious but spending a week somewhere shows up the faults. There was no kettle in the room and we like our particular brand of coffee first thing in the morning. There was a coffee machine and supplies were regularly topped up. Also we were told we could have hot water delivered to our room if required. We enjoyed the rooftop Jacuzzi twice during our stay, with views across Catania to the sea. The small outdoor pool was however too cold, but it was November. The worst thing about our room was the noise from the air conditioning unit on the roof above it was very loud and the sound reverberated down the pillar in the bedroom. We complained about the noise and although it was dealt with well and an maintenance man came to the room it appeared nothing could be done. I bought some ear plugs and that helped a little. The bed was very comfortable and nice bedding. The curtains were sufficient to keep out the light which was good. Plenty of towels and toiletries in the bathroom but the washbasin plug didn’t seem to work. We would like to return but to a different room without the air con noise.

A calm oasis in bustling Catania. Had to make an unexpected overnight in Catania which turned out to be a lovely experience. Booked the room over the Expedia app very much last minute. Upon arrival at the hotel about an hour later, the room was ready and we were treated very pleasantly by the reception staff. The hotel rooms themselves are located in a new building adjoined to a historic 19th century country villa. The environment is lovely - clam surroundings, greenery and views of Catania and the sea. We were given a triple room, which although compact, was perfect. Lovely decor, stylish finishing and great attention to detail. The facilities in the hotel are also excellent - the pool area is a relaxing zone throughout the day and the restaurant food is lovely, offering a variety of dishes. Above all, the staff were extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful, Highly recommended and will definitely find teh time to be back!

We arrived at 3:05 pm for check in after circling the block 3 times to finally find the entrance. At main entry we found it was locked up tight and knocked for about 5 minutes. No answer, no signs on the door. I tried calling but our phones had no service at the location, both ATT and Sprint. Next we circled on foot around the entire hotel looking for another entry, 2 other doors, also locked and no response. Never saw a human being...we were hot and tired after a day at Mt Etna so finally we got back in the car and headed back to our previous hotel in Taormina, where we were able to check back in luckily. As soon as we got phone service we called Expedia and told them exactly what happened. The hotel told them the doors were not locked and we never showed up basically calling us liars and refused any refund. We never saw the interior, but the exterior was run down and dirty, we made our way past large piles of debris trying to find a back entrance. The neighborhood was sketchy, not a place I would feel safe walking around. A huge disappointment, not as advertised!!

Catania is full of noise and people busy-on with experiencing the delights of the City... this hotel is an oasis from the hustle and bustle. We have stayed here 3 times and will return...

Hotel is a lovely facility with excellent service. Well prepared meal in the restaurant on the lower level. Location can be a bit tricky to drive to, and, very little choice of eateries other than hotel. However, very handy shuttle to downtown. (Would have liked it to operate later.) all in all, a very pleasant stay.

Although the hotel was a bit out of the way, the courtesy bus was useful. The staff were super friendly and couldn’t have been more helpful. The waitress in the fabulous restaurant was very good at her job, and very personable.

Lovely hotel with great service
This hotel was a treat to stay at, a bit far from the city but with the free available shuttle transfers that can be booked in advanced it was not a problem. The room and hotel were in excellent condition, a lovely spacious room and beautiful breakfast were you could even fill your own mini cannoli while overlooking the city and ocean.

Beautiful hotel which we fell in love with.
Great traditional villa style hotel. Fantastic staff who fell over themselves at every step to make our stay pleasant. It really did feel like we were staying in a top notch place but not for top notch money and it excelled in everything thing we expected from it. Carry on doing the same villa del Bosco and we will return. Very sad to leave.

Great stay
Excellent staff who do anything for you. Guiseppe and reception staff especially. Nice cocktails and snacks. Great hotel with fancy old style decor. Option of style of room. We got a balcony that made our stay even better. Excellent stay with partner but we not that fussy like most people. Small downside location its not walking distance to city centre. Local Bus available just outside hotel for 1 euro but not a reliable service. Maybe in busier season they offer shuttle bus for free but not during our stay.

Elegant hotel
Really helpful, friendly, courteous staff. Although I didn't like the room I was originally allocated (because I was alone and it was in an annexe building) the reception staff went out of their way to make sure I was in a room that I liked. The room facilities are more than adequate and the public areas beautifully elegant. Very clean. Breakfast was lovely, fresh pastries, bread, etc and dinner in the restaurant was excellent. The hotel is located at the top of a hill but there is a really good bus service into Catania, and there are a few local shops and cafes within walking distance. If you have the nerve to drive in Sicily there are many more accessible places to visit. Excellent value for money.

A lovely hotel from which to visit Catania
An excellent hotel in a classic building on the lower slopes of Etna in the northern outskirts of Catania. Friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast taken in the roof dining room with panoramic views. Hotel is about an hour's walk from the centre, or a bus ride, but well worth the journey.

1st day,bosses daughter birthday so pool was out of bounds,said due to maintenance but really for party, would of rather been told real reason. Rest of stay very pleasant, but service in restaurant very slow. Food not the best considering the standard of hotel (shame!!) Staff were friendly.

Nice lovely villa but uneven accomadayion.
This is a lovely little hotel that doesn't seem to have made up its mind as to what it wants to be- a B&B or a 4 star hotel. The ambiance of the lobby and bar area is great and the rooms are nice enough but rooms are close with thin walls.- one can hear too much of ones' neighbours. I imagine the new part of the hotel- more expensive is better. The food in the restaurant is also uneven.

Pool Water was cloudy so no one was using it. Restaurant was over priced and not great quality. Room was on the whole ok except air conditioning was faulty had the choice between freezing cold or boiling hot. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Has excellent private beach which a shuttle runs to for free. Good access to Catania and Etna.

Two night stay
We had a great time in villa del bosco, the staff were very helpful and we made use of the shuttle bus that runs to the city and to the beach each morning. The taxi man that they called was also extremely friendly and gave me a gift of a bottle of Sicilian wine on our return journey with him.. The rooms are beautiful and there is a lovely resteraunt as part of the hotel. The only downside was the fact that the hotel is up quite a hill from Catania (still we were able to walk home) overall very pleased with villa del bosco :) would come back for sure

The room was a decent size with sufficient wardrobe space. The only grumble we had was that our room (214) didn't have any natural light. The only window was blacked out and the other lighting was poor in the bedroom, if we were staying more than the two nights we would have asked to change - the bathroom did have natural light and was fine. Although out from the centre of Catania, the local busses into town were fairly frequent and only a couple of minutes walk from the hotel.

Our room was clean and quiet though the décor was a bit too austere for our taste. The hallway was painted black on black and the rooms were painted a metallic steel gray. The hotel has a bit of elegance to it and provided a full breakfast which was nicely done.

Very pleasant stay in Catania
The hotel is lovely in it's decor, the staff very friendly; we requested early check-in and were granted this with no problem. Nice room and nice breakfast. We only stayed one night but recommend this Hotel greatly.
