“Hotel to Remember..”

We checked in and immediately knew we were going to enjoy our stay. Big flat screen TV with more channels than I can remember, Jacuzzi with a TV in a spacious bathroom. Good view from all windows. Plenty of seating spaces. Access to a BBQ area, rooftop... Kitchenette. and most important a very comfy bed... Manager was great...

“Catalina Grand Prix 2010”

The room was tiny but well appointed and the bed was extremely comfortable. Everything worked as expected. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We were there for the races (Saturday and Sunday) but we arrived a day early and stayed till Monday so we could enjoy Avalon. The location is perfect, the rooftop deck is spectacular (I wanted to sleep up there). I didn't take advantage of the continental breakfast but it sounded delicious. The hotel is in a 100 year old house so expect it to have some uneven floors, the stairs are narrow, and not many of the doors are plumb; but that's part of the charm. We will definitely stay there again.

I had a lot of fun! Our room was in the back corner separate from the other rooms. It was more private but hidden and didn't get that much light. Otherwise, I thought it was a great experience.

“Funky dowtown Avalon hotel”

We loved the hotel - it was not 4 star. It fit our idea of romantic Catalina to a T. We kept our window open at night and the waves of partiers were noisy walking home. We considered that part of the ambience.

Nice older hotel, not fancy but the caretakers are great. Really cool upper deck. Street noise makes it hard to sleep with the windows open. Very convenient location if you come in on the ferry and are on foot.

“My birthday weekend”

I thought this place was charming and quaint. Great location - short easy walk from Ferry. I stayed in the 'Sea Shell' which was a first floor room with the entrance on 3rd street. I was in Avalon for the 50 mile run in January (on my birthday) and chose this hotel because it had a refundable cancellation policy. The only complaints I would have (which were not a big deal) was there was very little water pressure in the bathroom sink (more importantly the shower was fine) and when door to the upstairs patio was locked the second key didn't work - in fact both keys opened the room door instead. LOVED my stay there and would definitely return.

Rooftop deck was great, Breakfast was a decent continental and enough for us--bagels, muffins, cereal, juice & coffee. Room was small. Shower was in the jacuzzi tub but with no curtain. First morning there was NO hot water from the shower; second morning finally got hot water after ~10 minutes. Second night people upstairs were moving furniture around off and on until 1:30 AM!! Not sure I would stay there again, mostly because of the lack of hot water.
