We knew the hotel would be pretty basic based on the price and reviews, but it was much worse than advertised. The reception area was ok and the staff were friendly and helpful. However, the room was pretty awful. The window cill was crumbling away and the bathroom door was completely falling apart at the base of it. I had black feet after coming out the shower and walking across the room bare foot, so the floor was obviously not clean. There were also stains on the bedsheets. The air con worked well, which was about the only positive.

The hotel is in a great location and its staff is really awesome. But you get what you pay for and its not an expensive hotel so anyone complaining doesnt understand that. I'd stay here again

Perhaps one of the best values
The first time I staid at the Stil I was whisked to a top floor. Spiritual Inspiration view. On one side a view of the fort on the other the sea. Great front desk staff. Can walk to the Center and Serrezuela. Great food. Can walk to mall plaza restaurants clubs Juan Valdez and Churches. Room is clean . Housekeepers wonderful Great breakfast and coffee. Can walk to beach.

La propiedad está en una ubicación aceptable, el problema es que el mantenimiento del lugar es muy malo, la atención de la persona en recepción no fue nada agradable, las personas visitantes eran funcionarios de Guatemala y la persona de recepción ofendió con un cometario desagradable nomas llegando al lugar, entramos a la habitaciones y el agua no está apta para uso humano, en una de las camas había toallas usadas anteriormente mismas que se llevaron en ese momento, lo cual deja mucho a la imaginación.

Hola Inocente.lamentamos mucho que el alojamiento no haya sido de su agrado, trabajaremos en mejor según calidad precio.Estoy segura que la persona en recepción no tenia intención de ofender posiblemente fue un mal entendió, aunque hablemos español ambos países algunas cosas tienen diferentes significado. Y las toallas el botones no las retira porque estén usadas, sino porque debe dejar solo el numero de toallas por persona ocupando la habitación. Saludos.

This property should be turn down. Destroyed. And rebuild with new management and staff. -5 stars. (Minus). No hot water. Hard beds. No in room phone. Hard towels. Breakfast is…is… yak ! Air con was very loud and disturbing. I asked to change room and ask why you gave me that room. Kimberly told me if you dont like it you can go somewhere else. So i did. Dangerous area ! Centro ! No safe to walk all day ! Do yourself a favor like kimberly told me and go somewhere else. This cheap price doesn’t worth it.

Air conditioned in room want working, they promised to either change us to another room or at least give us a fan. Let to go out for the night and came back at 3 am and still didn't have another room for us. Cartagena is a very hot city. Air conditioned rooms are a MUST

Good localization
The reservation included free breakfast, however, the hotel told us that Hotel.com did not pay for the breakfast. Unfortunately, the communication between the hotel staff and Hotel.com didn’t solve the problem, so we had to pay for the breakfast. The hotel has a good localization. Staff was very friendly and helpful with directions and suggestions of places to visit.

Bad bad bad
I hardly know where to begin. This place was absolutely the worst of the worst in accordance to a place to stay. We had little choice in our last night in Cartagena. We nicknamed this place the Scarface hotel as it reminded us of the chainsaw scene in the movie Scarface. Filthy doesn't even describe this dump. They have bellman in this place and we can only assume it's to carry the bodies out after a disasterous guest stay. We propped a nite table against the door because the door lock was loose. The bathroom hasn't been cleaned since the hotel was built or a result of pigs being housed prior to slaughter. My wife said she was filing for divorce when we get back home because I had lost my mind 'in choosing this place. As for the reviews... Either lies or the people were on drugs leaving reviews. 7.0 rating. Should have been negative 7. Think this is exaggerated, think again.

Ok, getting real. What you see if what you get. This is not about luxury, this is about being strategically BEST located for all your Cartagena adventures. Again, very well located right at the center. Yes, the area might look a bit intimidating, but rest assure its all in your head. Take your usual precautions as in all hotels in South America, you can talk to the staff if you feel concerned. This brings me to the staff, BEYOND accommodating and friendly, always treated like a guest in their home. I will stay here again, some rooms have a really nice view of Castillo de San Felipe, cerró popa, and a beautiful skyline.

Good ol place!
My experiences was good i was not expecting much for the price per night! BUT THIS PLACES IS VERY CLEAN, COULD USE AN UPDATE! BUT VERY CLEAN, ONLY BAD THING! NO WHERE TO PARK !

Mosquitoes and cockroaches
Cockroaches and mosquitos in the room despite it being on a high floor. Windows do not shut properly so loud street noise all night. I asked front desk to book me a taxi to airport but they didn’t, causing me to frantically run to a busy street to flag one down. Bed was stiff. Not worth it to stay here.

A basic and convenient place to stay.
This is not a luxury hotel. It is a cheap, basic hotel in a good location. Beds arent that comfortable, no hot water (common in Colombia) and a little run down. Breakfast is satisfactory at best. The key is though, you get what you pay for. It is a very reasonable price so nothing to complain about. It is also safe and the staff is very very nice.

The location is fantastic, the only issue in this part of town is that there is no hot water in most hotels. The saving grace is that it is hot enough in Cartagena, that the water is never really cold. The restaurant and cafe are both pleasant enough and the prices are very reasonable. The only true negative is that the WIFI never worked quite right, always dropping off or not working at all. I would recommend this hotel, except for the WIFI.

I've been several times at this hotel and this visit I must say they cut back on the breakfast quality and the Wi-Fi does not function past the first few floors so ask for a lower floor room or wait till you go in the lobby to use Wi-Fi

First night we are getting ready for bed and my daughter bumps a picture hanging on the wall. Out falls hundreds of eggs and tiny crawling critters onto her bed. So we pack up and go downstairs and ask for a new room. The pillow in the new room was paper thin so my 16 yr old daughter went to the desk to ask for another. A male hotel employee got on the elevator with her, which is uncomfortably small, leaned in very close to her to say “muy Bonita “ meaning very pretty and asked how many nights she was staying. She ran into our room screaming and in tears saying the man hit the stop button on the elevator with her in it and it happened to be stopping at a floor so she bolted and took the stairs. We spoke to a manager the next day and left. They tried to explain it away as he was just practicing his English. Well it’s funny he was telling her how beautiful she was in Spanish. I’ve never been so furious. I don’t doubt her word or instincts at all. I’m soooo freaking grateful that elevator happened to be stopping at a floor when he tried to stop it. God only knows what would have happened. And they have bugs. Absolutely disgusted by the entire experience.

It was cheap. Room was very simple. Bed not so good and pillows old and lumpy. Breakfast very basic. AC worked good. Not the best location, but ok. Old rundown type hotel, but if you're on a tight budget it's adequate.
