A pleasant stay….
We enjoyed our stay and liked the environment and furnishings of this attractive hotel but a few small improvements could be made to enhance the experience. First of all, the room was large and comfortable with a good walk in shower but overall the room looked a bit shabby with large streaks of something that must have spilled, on one wall - a re paint would seem to be needed. The cooked breakfast was very good and my husband really enjoyed it but I chose to have pastries and toast. There were only two croissants left at 9.15 and these were very dry. The only alternative was chocolate muffins but no other pastries. A larger selection of fresh pastries would be nice. Toast was a great problem as the toaster burned one side of the toast and left the other undone! Several people had this problem. I mentioned this and the member of staff said they would make it for me but still it arrived not toasted on one side! Also, staff were helpful but not always readily available. It would be helpful to have a member of staff overseeing the breakfast buffet and helping people with the toast etc when needed.

Dear Pauline thanks for the review and feedback, unfortunately the toaster got broken that morning and we were not aware but a nice new shiny one has replaced the old one, that toasts on both sides. We serve lots of pastries and on the morning that you dined we were very busy after opening and as they are fresh produce we ran out of pastries. We are so glad your husband enjoyed his breakfast and we wish you all the best for 2024.

Historic Hotel; Excellent Service
The hotel is a wonderful 18th Century hotel in the center of town — very modern — a few hundred yards from the Superloop bus to Heathrow. The restaurant has excellent food and the pub is the second best in town (after The Hope which has a much better beer selection and a more local vibe). The hotel staff was remarkably helpful. They loaned me a phone charger when I didn’t have an adapter and help with local taxi to St. Heliers hospital where I had an appointment. At the end of my stay I asked for a taxi to Heathrow and the staff very helpfully explained the excellent public bus service (busses every 20 minutes or so to Heathrow costing less than $2.

A relaxing temporary after a stressful move day
Great stay. All staff courteous and helpful. Breakfast amazing, even provided sausages for our diva dog. Guestroom good, little dusty around bedside lamps.

Excellent stay!
I stayed for 4 nights, and really have no complaints. The room was spacious and cosy, bed was comfortable and the sheets were clean. The bathroom was amazing, and the water pressure for the shower was great. There was one evening when the cold tap would randomly turn on and make a loud noise, but I let it run for a few minutes and it seemed to rectify itself. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the food (Breakfast and dinner) was all fresh and delicious. Definitely would stay again!

It had a lovely comfortable homely feel, not posh or stuffy at all. Although there were a few places near the bar which could do with a bit of a paint! The room was very comfortable and well equipped, particularly with snacks! The staff were friendly and service excellent. The waitress left us chatting till 11pm which was great. In all a very enjoyable stay which I would recommend to others.

Great place to stay
A great place to stay, very friendly, very comfortable, nice food in pub and a great breakfast. The room was clean today and a good size. The bed was huge and very comfortable. Nice clean and fresh bathroom. Selection of quality snacks in room to buy was a nice option to have. And plenty of parking available too.

Nice hotel, rude staff
Positives: the room was spacious, the bathroom was beautiful and updated and very large for Europe. Negatives: the staff was very rude at check in and asking for directions and it is pretty far from most things, there’s a little cafe nearby but otherwise you’re stuck with the hotel restaurant or getting something delivered I will say the housekeeping staff and the woman that checked us out were both lovely so not all of the staff was rude, but I was just very surprised by the attitude and manors for people working in the hospitality industry

Disappointing Breakfast
Top tip - don’t bother with breakfast! The so called continental as advertised and priced (£13.50 each) was non existent - as already known by the staff but not disclosed to paying customers! The full English came as advertised although ‘eggs’ implies multiple and not just one. Also, you would hope your breakfast arrives along with others ordered and not simply left on the kitchen counter until you attempt to get it yourself. Very dissatisfied and in future will consider other hotel chains.

The hotel was lovely but we found the room very noisy it was in the ground floor and the entrance door was near our room So was constantly banging when people came in or out. Also the delivery truck at 6.30am parked outside our room window !

I always stay at the Greyhound when visiting family in the area. It is friendly, reliable and the breakfasts are superb. Even though the pub is very lively, none of the noise makes it to the bedrooms. Comfortable King sized beds complete the experience.

Great find and look forward to returning.
So pleased that I chose to stay in this hotel. Extremely comfortable bed, with good quality linens, beautiful bathroom, good selection of teas/coffees in room, etc. Dinner was good but menu is limited to what would be found in a very ordinary pub. Great breakfast. I would ask for a different room next time as I was in 101, right next to the entrance and I was disturbed (throughout the night) by people coming in and out.

Well run hotel and pub.
Great welcome and service as always from a lovely bunch of staff. When you stay away in hotels week in week out here in the uk and overseas it’s nice when you arrive to friendly staff making your stay feel more homely than just being another hotel. Would recommend but tempted to keep quiet to ensure there are rooms available for my next visit!!!

shame about noisy guests
Hotel was nice and lively, however a number of inconsiderate late night guests ruined the experience. The Hotel staff did their best to try and calm the noisy party down, its a pity , nice hotel and good staff , just inconsiderate guests.

Location was brilliant, on main road but hardly heard any traffic. 2 minute walk into the centre with the local shops/pubs/cafes. The staff were very welcoming and food was cooked fresh to order.
