Inexpensive. Pretty clean- towels were a little ratty, smoking floor was suffocating. I'm used to a bit fresher even in smoking accommodations. Sheets had burn holes and felt like sandpaper. AC worked well, house keeping was fine. Staff was polite. The hole place needs a renovation- kind of worn. No problems to speak of. It's not the Ritz but more comfortable sheets and newer towels would have earned the 4th star.
Since I wasn't able to leave work, until 6 PM, on Friday, I needed a place to stay, enroute to my destination in the eastern part of PA. I did not want to drive this long trip from Pittsburgh in one night. I figured that a hotel, just off the Carlisle exit of the Turnpike, would be about as far as I wanted to go, on Friday night. I chose this Econolodge which was conveniently located just off the Turnpike exit! After an excellent night's sleep, I was able to complete my journey on Saturday.
When I pulled up to check in, I honestly thought that this was like any Days Inn where I have stayed before. I couldn't have been more wrong. Upon entry I noticed all of the accolades that this hotel has earned. When I met the vice president, Michael, he smiled and said as I checked in, "It is good to see you!" This personal attention showed me that we were truly appreciated as guests. The amenities were incredible as well. Their fitness room was well equipped, they offered laundry services, and the pool was Crystal clear clean! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. There were no problems getting extra towels, the desk answered calls and questions very kindly and to the best of their ability, and even the person making breakfast items made sure they were stocked, cleanly, and all of the guests needs were met. She (and Mike) even took time to talk to my family and I to get to know us a little better. That is what a great hotel is made of. The air conditioning system was the only problem, but the room and beds were quite comfortable. Many thanks to this hotel and their great service!
When we arrived for check-in we were told that the hotel was overbooked. The concierge, Corey, had already booked us at another hotel nearby. He guaranteed us a room for our second night of our booking. Breakfast at the hotel was very good. We were very satisfied with our stay.
Brand new hotel located off of Interstate 81. Amenities include complimentary continental breakfast, heated indoor pool and …More
We only stayed one night but from the time we walked in the door until we checked out staff made us feel at home and were more than helpful with any questions. Our room was clean and the bedding was superior. My husband actually liked that he could go buy 1 beer from the in-house mini-market. Excellent breakfast the next morning. Food (and there were plenty of choices) was prepared wonderfully. A lot of choices for different appetities. Pool and hot tub were perfect for some relaxation after the long ride there.
In historic downtown, restored buildings like the Carlisle Theater add charm. Antique shops, galleries, and boutiques line Pomfret and High streets. Dickinson College, near the main square, was the first college chartered by the U.S. The Carlisle Barracks and Army Heritage Museum illustrate the rich military history. Ten auto shows and other events are hosted annually at the Carlisle Fairgrounds.
