“Good experience at the Commodore.”
This is a high-class hotel with lots of character. The service is friendly but very efficient. Breakfasts are good and although we only had a snack in the hotel (a sandwich) with a bottle of wine this was also very pleasant. The location is excellent - fivve minutes walk from the V & A Waterfront with all that this offers.
“Treated like royalty”
Very nice hotel, pretty outdoor courtyard. If there was higher score I could award to the quality of staff and their service I would give it. The only reason that I did not rate cleanliness of the room with the maximum is that I felt the shower grouting could have used a little bleach, although it was clean. The breakfast deserves a special mention - go hungry and with plenty of time. A wide variety of fresh prepared fruit, different yoghurts, cereals, breads, rolls, pastries, juices, smoothie of the day, cheeses, cold meats (including smoked salmon), hot beef and pork sausages, beans, potatoes, mushrooms, bacon. They made fresh omelettes, any kind of eggs and pancakes (with a variety of toppings) to order. Would definitely go back.
“Good Hotel at a Very Convenient Location with Good Food”
This hotel is at a great location and has a fairly good restaurant. The strengths include free internet, large safe in the room, refrigerators in rooms, great breakfast buffet, good cold beer at the lounge, and concierge staff that are ready to call cabs and arrange trips. I cannot think of any weaknesses other than (possibly) the fact that, for security reasons, in order to close the door from outside (as in going out), one has to shut it closed, which can be noisy in the middle of the night (that did not bother us, but I do not know of other guests). For some travelers it might also be of some interest that our room did not have a flat-screen TV (perhaps there are some available in other rooms). Cape Town has so much to offer, there is so much to do outside, that we did not watch any TV during the entire 9-day stay, so this was not a problem for us. The reliability and availability of the internet more than made up for the TV being a little dated. I strongly recommend this hotel to an average traveler for whom convenient location, safety, reasonable comfort, and value are of importance. Thank you for reading my opinion.
“Excellent experience”
The Commodore picked me up from the airport from a 5 am flight and checked me into a really comfortable room at 6 am. Being in easy reach of the waterfront I had a great day out and then an excellent meal in the evening. Really helpful staff and great service.
“quality”
the staff at the commodore were so helpful and friendly they would have been a credit to any hotel in the world, the food was 1st class, the only small let down is the size of the pool, but the positives far far outweigh any negatives
“Very satisfied”
I will certainly return to this hotel, centrally located and extremely polite and friendly staff.
“Very nice. Great location.”
Nice hotel. Rooms with good views of the Victoria & Albert Waterfront. Great breakfasts. Very close to many of the big attractions in Cape Town.
“Great Location and Excellent Staff”
The Commodore V&A is just about a half a block from the very upscale mall that is right on the waterfront. In addition to the shopping there are multitudes of restaurants, many with views of the harbor. Our room overlooked the waterfront and also Table Mountain. The neighborhood is safe to walk in the evening. The staff was extremely curtious and helpful, often greeting us by name. The concierge was quite good at getting us dinner reservations at the last minute. The breakfast buffet included in our room rate was quite extensive.
“A very good hotel in an excellent location”
We enjoyed our stay very much and the hotel lived up to our expectations. Staff were helpful and friendly.
“Good Location”
The Commodore V&A Waterfront provides convenient access to waterfront attractions and restaurants. We stayed in the Balmoral Castle Suite with balcony views of both Table Mountain and the harbor. The accomodations were clean and comfortable. Our one dinner in the hotel restaurant was very good. The proximity to the harbor also was convenient because we arrived by cruise ship.
