Fabulous!
We stayed at the newly revamped hotel for two weeks and loved our stay. After an initial problem with our room, we were instantly upgraded to a large room with a breathtaking view of Lion's Head and the sea. The staff at The Ritz are simply wonderful! They are all friendly and helpful, always greeting us with a smile. The breakfast buffet was good, with eggs made to order and a good selection of other items. The hotel is one block from the Promenade where we enjoyed walking. There is a large choice of restaurants within walking distance and the area is safe. We did not take advantage of the revolving restaurant, but the views from up there were stunning! We would definitely stay at The Ritz again!

DO NOT STAY HERE, THEFT!!
Went to dinner, returned to room and realized I need to buy water because there was none stocked in my room. Made the misteak of leaving my purse under the TV for 15 minutes while I went downstairs. During that time someone entered my room to drop off a “complimentary” dessert tray. Cute right? Wrong! Discovered several hundred US dollars went missing! Immediately reported it to manager on duty, he could have cared less and told me he couldn’t go around accusing people and that he would alert the morning manager. Upon check out the next morning nobody knew of the situation and there was no follow up even a month after! Why are they entering rooms late at night and doing nothing about stolen money? This place is weird and shady. Lesson learned don’t drop your guard for even a second. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THE RITZ...

Newly renovated Ritz misses the mark
No hairdryer, no robes, no slippers, hard pillows with no pillow choices, extractor not functioning in the bathroom, small bottled water only for 1 provided and 45 minutes to get room service to rectify after phoning multiple times made our stay very disappointing for a hotel that has been newly renovated, but has missed the mark. Fine details to the renovation like leaving the old brown covering inside the lift doors, badly covered passage walls / finishes and unfinished areas on the restaurant level makes one feel that the decoration upgrade was done as cheaply as possible. The staff in the restaurant were friendly and did ask how was our stay, but more needs to be done to tell guests that you can order a cooked breakfast, as the food variety on display was minimal. Pity, because the past reviews online has been shocking, but we though that things would have dramatically changed due to a "complete renovation". A lot more work and attention to detail needed. Nice pool area though.

Excellent Staff
Sadick is an outstanding concierge. he was very attentive to all our needs and went above and beyond to make sure all needs were met. He greeted us every morning with a warm and inviting greeting. The Restaurant and Bar staff was awesome, the Manager was informed that I was lactose intolerant, he immediately walked to the local store and bought soy milk that would last my entire stay. The staff at the revolving restaurant were excellent, specially our waitress. South Africa was on our bucket list, however, our experience, because of the staff, has turned it into a place we will visit again.

Money stolen from my room
Safety box was not functional upon my arrival. My mistake, I left my money inside my luggage. Unfortunately housekeeping stole money out of my bags. The next day I informed Reception and asked them NOT to let anyone into my room. However when I came back at night the room was cleaned and housekeeping has been there again despite my earlier note. Stay there at your own risk.

Only there for one day & night, Inside building works where noisy. Safe in room you could just pick up and walk out with it. Unfortunate couldn’t use pool due to drought & rain

They really don't care about the customer.
First the hotel is close under construction and nobody contacted me telling me that, so I arrived from the airport and they were not receiving customers. They sent me to a far away "hotel" really bad taking advantage because I'm sure they paid very little for that place Where I was ROBBED while I was out! If Ritz really care about their customers they would contact you first or they would put you in a better/safe place NOT in a chipper place so they could have more profit on top!

Best room in town.
From our arrival, through to our departure, we had a positive experience. No complaints. Our room on the 19th floor gave us wonderful views. The dual aspect room meant that we could see sunrise and sunset. Our double room had recently been renovated, and was very acceptable. Some floors were still being renovated, and two of the four lifts were reserved for contractors. This was very well managed and we did not experience any inconvenience.

Excellent service with wonderful friendly staff. Although the towels were old it was crisp and clean. I would love to have a comfortable chair in the room where you can sit especially if you stay for longer than a week.

It was a great stay I have stayed at many places and the Ritz is top of my list I saw reviews of the place and I might add its so not true the staff the atmosphere the food everything was absolutely amazing.

The first day the room was not good at it was damp the carpet was smelling and its was so small for 4 adults also their cupboards was full od dust we complained and they moved us to another room its better than that nice view but the problem we had is when we woked up on Monday Morning and the water was cold.Also their room has no twin plugs we had to go and buy for ourselves to able to charge our phones

Try avoiding it ...
Hotel is under renovation... So lifts take a lot of time. Our toilet flush was broken....took multiple plumber visits but couldn't get sorted properly. Tried room service ( for a bottle of water) once and it never arrived..... On calling again, I was told that he water wasn't sent because they realized nobody had informed me about the 'tray charge' of 50 rands per room service! I guess they just assumed that I wouldn't want to pay that charge, and hence rejected the order, without bothering to inform me!!! Ha ha

Great last minute option!
Front desk agent was friendly, helpful and accommodating. They were helpful in arranging transportation to the airport. Vehicle was nice and the driver did a great job getting us to the airport on time.

We get to the hotel and I wait 15mintutes for them to try and find my booking. Even though I had told them 2 hours before that I was coming. The concierge hands is our room keys and says that your stay includes a free breakfast taking place from 7-10am the next day. We go up to our room, which needs to be revamped. None of the lights were plugged in, there are no two prong plug fittings. The Aircon doesn't work, the bathrooms are disgusting. Old toilet roles were on the window sill, the floor hadn't been swept properly. Seemed like the worst hotel choice. Pictures on the internet are such a con! We survived the night and went for our breakfast.. Only to find out at check in that I must now pay R330 for the breakfast which I was told was free, and then pay another R50 for my parking which was also stated "free" when I booked the hotel. Definitely won't recommend it.

Old hotel
I was put in a room whose aircon was not working. I was later changed to another room whose aircon was leaking water through out the night. This hotel is very very old and needs to be refurbished

Location was great, but not a Ritz
the location was fantastic, not in the middle of the town or a lot of activity, but near the beach and many restaurants. Although the staff was nice, I found their were very inept. Starting with not honoring the reservation I made for them to pick me up from the airport. I was arriving close to midnight with my kid and I wanted to make sure I had a car waiting. they acknowledge that they didn't book it and told me to take a taxi. once i got there, the first room i got was dirty, had garbage , open bottles of soda, etc. the next room, smelled like a homeless in NYC ( I don't have to say more) and to top it off, the beds were not made. The third, I took it because it was exhausted and my kid needed to sleep but at least it was clean. the Name Ritz really threw me off, thats why I booked it, but dot let that fool you.

I needed a room for just 1 night. So I settled for the economy room, as I would not really b spending anytime at the actual hotel really. The room was extremely disappointing though. I realise it ws an economy room, but there are certain things u come to expect. Firstly, the bathroom was halfway through a renovation. Chipped and broken tiles, shower leaked terribly, and in the morning, I noticed tiny roaches in the bath and bin. Gross. Then during the night, water started dripping from the aircon unit. The TV hd I think only 5 channels, nd none of them played clearly. I realise I booked an economy room, but like I said, the room was not even close to decent. It ws quite gross actually. Never, ever again.

The Ritz is experiencing an extensive renovation period, and a most welcome makeover it is. It has to be said, however, that not all the rooms (I was told) will have the same level of appointments. The room I occupied had a most uncomfortable bed as one of its supports was missing. I did find the staff most helpful and the breakfast was varied.

Cape Town Ritz is a very bad hote !
Ritz is a very bad hotel! Too many maintenance issues ! I stayed here for 3 nights from Oct. 26th, 2015. I took a chance with this hotel despite bad reviews as this was ideally located. But, totally disappointed. On the first day itself I had to change rooms 3 times and then again twice the next day. There were all kinds of maintenance issues and problems. The lights, the water, the sink, shower fittings, no spare plug points, and many many other issues. The airconditioner was never working in any of the rooms and eventually they gave me a noisy table fan ! All the three nights, me and my wife could n’t sleep a bit ! It was so pathetic and a real nightmare ! This hotel is supposed to be undergoing renovation, but looked nominal and very slow ! They should not really keep this hotel open until all renovation complete. Their website looks very impressive but not in reality. They also charge ZAR150.00 for WiFi which is just outrageous and irresponsible and that too with a limit of only 500mb ! And that hangs most of the time with no connection. All their staff, especially Francois in the lobby and Matt at the restaurant, were very nice and struggling hard to cope with the many complaints of guests ! The breakfast buffet was very good. Rooftop restaurant is closed. The hotel is ideally located with striking views ! I suggest the management refund my money fully (USD 250.00) with an apology for the torture I had to endure during my stay there. Joe Panicker

Ritz is the Pits!
I arrived in Cape Town late and checked in for one night at the Ritz. Not only did we not get the twin beds we requested and paid for, the room was filthy. The added bonus was the pair of mens boxer shorts hanging in the bathroom. The shower curtain was hanging with 2 hooks. Gross is an understatement. We were only there from 10 pm until 8 am, so we stayed. But it was the absolute worst place I have ever stayed.

best tallest efficient sea point hotel in capetown
This hotel is now called African Skies(recent takeover)while still calling it The Ritz also...my stay was great...outstanding was the friendliness of the staff...whether it was loaning me an adapter to recharge my smart phone or preparing a fantastic breakfast even though it was a bit pricey...but my room When I needed to stay one more night was only plus the use of their contracted laundry was reasonable and I would easily go to it again.
