Fouquet's Cannes - Inspired by famous namesake on the Champs-Elysees, this traditional French brasserie offers French cuisine in a theatrical atmosphere: Egyptian frescoes and statues; burgundy-red furnishings; and black-and-white photos of celebrities from past film festivals. La Petite Maison is the latest Nice restaurant to join gourmet restaurants in Cannes, notable for Southern cuisine, opening at the Majestic Barrière in April 2010.

La Petite Maison de Nicole is a gourmet restaurant offering the same Nice and Mediterranean specialties as the main La Petite Maison restaurant. One can enjoy light squash flower fritters, little stuffed vegetables, Brittany artichokes, scrambled truffles, local rock mullet gudgeons, Mediterranean lobster, or calamaretti fritti.

“Not all rooms up to 4/5 star standard”

Check in was quick and efficient. Baggage delivery to room took very long and my suitcase was only delivered after prompting the conciege a few times. Our group which consisted of single rooms only, all had different sized rooms - some extremely small and after some room changes, we all found suitable rooms. The beds were amazingly plush and I slept well in the bed. My shower head had to be held by hand as there was no shower hook to hang the shower from - this was very inconvenient as I had to constantly put the shower head into the bath in order to wash myself. Being mid winter the shower was not nice at all. My toilet leaked and after flushing I had to go back and tilt the lever a few times to ensure that water did not keep running. One room offered had the heaitng on full power when we opened the door and smelt as if somebody had been smoking in the room. My room was next to a storeroom and I was awoken every morning by noisey staff who threw cases of water and stock around the storeroom. The doors (and those of neighbouring rooms) slammed loudly every time they were closed. After last rounds were called in the hotel bar, the lights were flickered indicating the bar would close. The setting and location of the hotel is fantastic and very convenient as our exhibition was being held in the Festival Palace across the road. It is also centraly situated to all the shopping streets, restaurants and old town. Identify shortcomings early and your stay should be OK.

Area recommendations

The entire area around the hotel is great for strolling around and shopping/browsing etc. The old town is also only a block or two away. A short walk up to the old castle is well worth a visit offering great views. There are also many tiny wine bars and cafes in this are. The hotel is very well located for those who enjoy a jog along the beachfront. A one hour (one way) train ride to Monaco Monte Carlo is very well worth it. The train ride takes you along the cliff edges and through lovely little villages. Once in Monaco and if your time is limited, a 10 minute walk into the centre will get you to the Hop on Hop off tours, which take an hour if you stay on the bus the entire journey. Don't take luggage, as there are no lock up facilities at the train station.

Getting there

If you fly into Nice, you can either take public transport which takes a few hours to get to Cannes including waiting times and finally getting directly to your address. You can also take a cab which should cost anywhere between Euro60 and Euro95. Be sure to clarify this with the driver and make sure they keep the clock on in the cab in order to monitor this. A cab is surely the quickest and most convenient way of getting to Cannes and can save you hours.

“Cannes Finest”

Gorgeous hotel with tastefully appointed rooms centrally located in Cannes on la Croisette. Great restaurants, beach, and entertainment all within steps of this magnificent hotel. Service was top notch.

“we asked to move us from construction, but they tried to place us anyway in construction area, liers”

hotel is not bad, a little old. No Iron in hotel!!!! they charge you 8-10 EUR to iron 1 piece!!!

“Not worth what you pay for”

The hotel is centrally located and i think has the best hotel location in Cannes but the services are not upto 5 star hotel. There is no swimming pool no Gym (aparently under construction) . YOu have to keep asking for bathroom toiltieries , there are no Hermes products in the bathroom . The TV is too small for the size of the room , no complimentary fruit basket or coffee or tea in the room , they refuse to give iron or ironing board . The business centre use is charged by the hour to enter it is E15 The bathroom smells of urine interactive guest info regarding billing does not apear on the TV and stangely an important sports channel is in black and white and they did not fix for the past 3 days breakfast buffet is very limited , only 3 hot choices and no chef to make you omelete or sunny side eggs. This is not a 5 star hotel you can say 3or 4 at best I do not recomend it as a 5 star hotel.
